Oil lira While they are here they are visiting other friends. Herbert Imel Jr. visited at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Imel Sun day. They returned to La Urande with him stopping off at IVndleton to watch their grandson in a swim meet. IDA COl.FMAN left in June for a three week vacation. She visited Mrs Joe West in California. They spent their time sightseeing in Tiajuana and other points of interest. The highlight of their trip was swing the filming of a Flip Wilson show which is to lie telecasted in September. It was the 5th Dimension and Tim Conway. On the return home she stopped in Portland and met her daughter Mrs. I'ele Crawford and they sent four days in Klamuth Falls. Nancy Hall and son returned home with Mrs. Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Crawford of Portland visited Ida Cole man in route to the Babe Iluth finals Thursday. Mr. and Mrs" Elhert Engen of McMinnville arrived from Minnesota to attend a class reunion. Mrs. Engen is Mrs. Coleman's daughter. Patty Crawford of The Dulles, Mrs. Jerry Minger and son Jerod of Sherwood visited relatives in lone. Tim a grandson of Mrs. Coleman is staying over till after the rodeo. Mrs. Dick Ekstrom of Sea ttle visited her mother Mrs. Ida Coleman and other rela tives. Vicki stayed with her grandmother for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. Berl Akers went to Portland Monday for business and pleasure. DENISE MATTHEWS has returned from OCE Mon mouth Summer School. - Denise is a teacher in the Echo School . Mark Halversen brought Alisa und Angie to visit their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halversen. Queen Cassandra Chapel and Princess Debbie of the Spray Kodeo rode in the Herniiston Fair and Rodeo Parade on August 12th. New Teachers Find Homes at Lex New Lexington residents this week are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Starr, Forest Grove, teacher and coach in the Heppner Schools, who have purchased the Bob Steagall home. Mr. and Mrs. Steagall and family are living tempo rarily in the Evans Ranch House, on the Lexington-Hep-pner highway. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Teal and children are planning on moving from Salem this week to the newly remodeled "pink house" former home of Mrs. Trannie Parker, now owned by Roberta Davis. He has accepted the position of cur riculum coordinator for the School Dostrict. Kenneth Klinger and Aaron are spending a few days in Portland visiting with other sons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Klinger and Bill Klinger. Mr. and Mrs. McBride and children, who have been living in the Hermann house have moved back to their home in Eugene. Herbert Davidson, of Port land, is visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Palmer are again at home after spending a couple of weeks at their home in Ukiah. MRS. ALEAN CALVIN has as a guest this week a daugh ter Mrs. Birdie Pappas from Fresno, Cal. Other guests who have returned to their home were a grandaughter Mrs. Bernice LeRoy, great-grandchildren Mrs. Claude Kizer all of Fresno Cal. The guests have been staying at the Kenneth Klinger home, where Mrs. Calvin lives with her daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Klinger. Mr. and Mrs. C:C. Jones, Florence McMillan and John Spence attended the funeral services in Baker on Monday for Emmett Spence of Port land. Mrs McMillan spent Sunday in Pendleton with a daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cool, motoring to Baker later in the day with Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Irvin. Mr. and Mrs Glen Munkers of Long Beach, Cal. spent a couple of days in Morrow County visiting the Munkers families. They were tracing the Munkers family tree and are vacationing for 30 days in Oregon with the various families. Lexington THREE LINKS CLUB met at the home of Mrs Kenneth Palmer, on Thursday after noon. Plans were further discussed for the Fair Booth, and materials for the initia tion costumes were discussed, with Mrs. Archie Munkers acting as chairman. The fall bazaar was further discussed and it was decided to concen trate on handworked pillow cases and aprons, with a few side articles, and the tenative date in November. Refresh ments were served to Mrs. A.F. Majeske, Mrs. T.E. Messenger, Florence McMil lan, Irene Padbers, Mr. C.C. Jones, Mrs. Richard Peck, Ella Adlard, Eula Bloods worth, Catie Padberg and the hostess. Door prize was won by Mrs. Munkers. The next meeting is planned for the hall, at which time the ladies, will spend the day quilting and sewing. Mr. and Mrs. Victor L. Groshens and son of Heppner spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Whitney in Portland. Kimmb erlee Larson who has been visiting at the C.C. Jones home for a couple of weeks returned to her home with them . George Vacations on East Coast George Johnston has return ed from a vacation in Wash ington DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania where he visited his family. His time in Washington was spent on writing his thesis on "The Bay of Pigs" for his Masters de gree. He renewed old ac quaintances while in the Na tional capital. He invited the Ambassador from Argentina to visit Morrow County. He drove to the east coast and was impressed again with all the agriculture between here and there. He drove through miles of corn in Iowa. He enjoyed his stop at Yellowstone especially seeing for the first time the emerald and turquoise pools in the area of Old Faithful and close to the hot springs throughout the park. HEPPNER GARDEN CLUB members made plans for the booth at the Fair Monday evening at their meeting held at the home of Mrs. Alice McCabe. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rawlins will act as chairman. Sister Visit For the first time since the first one was married in 1914, four sisters got together for a good long visit last week. Visiting Mrs. Scott Furlong were her three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Harrington and Mrs. Retha Adkins, both of Van couver, Wa. and Mrs. Velton Stark of Portland. Past Queen s Courts Invited All past Morrow County Fair and Rodeo Queens and their princesses or attendants are especially invited to ride in this year's big Centennial Parade. You may ride horse back or in pickups that will be furnished, according to Mrs. Archie "Dimples" Munkers, former Fair Court Chaperone. Mrs Pat O'Brien (Nadine) and Dimples will be at Cornett Green's store to meet and assist past courts soon after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26. Bring the next four Ingredients to a rapid boll and puur over flour and sugar mixture. Stir to blend. Add remuiiiinx Ingredients and mix well. Grease and flour an II xM Inch pan and bake mixture approximately 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Chocolate Icing 1 stick margarine 6 Tmilk 4 T cocoa 1 box powdered sugar (less Vi cup) 1 c nuts 1 t vanilla Bring first three Ingredi ents to a rapid boil. Removp from heat and add last three.
