Mr. Fltchey left Tues day and they till all tie back next weekend. honored Mr and Mrs. Clayton Sweek on their 21st Wedding Anniver sary party given by the Soroptimists Saturday night. Soropti mists have barbecue Soroptimists honored Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Sweek with a cake and a toast on their 21st Wedding Anniversary Saturday evening. Soropti mists families met for a barbecue and potluck supper at the Fair Frounds. The cake baked specially for ttie occasion had ttie Centennial look with a pink and green surrey on top and Happy Wed ding Anniversary Claytonand Evelyn. To Salem for Reunion The Denton families gat hered Sunday in Salem for Mrs. Nettie Denton's 86th birthday. She was looking very well which was pleas ing to Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond French, Susie and Ve rina who went down for the occasion. MelvinAshbeckac companied them. Mrs. Den ton is Mrs. French's mot her. Joining them there was another daughter of the Fren ch's, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wood (Karen) of Corvallis. All of Mrs. Denton's child ren were there. They were Howard Denton of Heppner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Eula) Fischer of Eugene, Mrs. Har lan Denton of Prineville, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Denton of Brookings, Mr. and Mrs. Da vid (Sharon) Peterson of Con don, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Riv era with whom Mrs. Denton makes her home at Salem and Mr. and Mrs. Vic Flynn also of Salem. Mrs. Denton has 19 grand children, 21 great grandchil dren and 2 great great grand children. Also sharing in the afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. joe French of Salem. Joe and Raymond French are brothers. Adding to the fun it was Joe's birthday too. There were 58 there. This was the first time they had all been together since 1956. MR. & MRS. ROBERTSCH ULTZ have moved from Wil liamsburg. Va. back to Heppner to make their home. They had their mobile home moved from the east coast and have it set up on Black Horse Canyon. Mr. Schultz is falling timber with his brother-in-law, Dail Turner. He spent 8'2 years in the mi litary service. Mrs. Art Calbraith and Mrs. Turner are his sisters. Mrs. Schu ltz is the former Linda Hea th, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Heath. Tillicum Club honors Rodeo Court The TillicuiuC luhnl h'urd nun entertained at a picnic lum heon June 28 for the Mor ro County Kmifo and fair Court. Princes DeMile Mc Coy was the suest of hnir as the Tillicum Club is her KHnor. Mrs. Rue Kennedy, president of the Tillicum Club Introduced Mrs. Hob Peter son who introduced UueenSu sie. The queen then intro duced ttie other nieiiilo rs of the court. The girls' mothers were al so guests. The anmal af fair was hid in the m ly dedicated City Parkat Hoard man. Mrs. Jerry Peck made a horseshoe shaped cake. Members and guests wt-re dressed in casuals. The Court wore their lavender Mouses with their plaid wes tern pants. The float committee accom panied by the husbands in spected the grounds to deter mine the best place to plant some pines and firs. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sargent and Mark and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Lott were guests at the outing. The Girls State delegates, Tami Meador and LouAnn Kelly and their mothers will be guests of the Soroptimists on Thursday. The girls will give their report on Girls State. Visiting Pecks Danita Hardy of Jefferson is here visiting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ha rold Peck. Tammy visited with the Pecks in June. Peo ple will remember seeing them at the Fair last year when they worked with their mother as she demonstrated spinning wool. They are dau ghters of Mr. and Mrs. Le land Hardy. Mrs. Hardy is the former Patricia Peck. MR. & MRS. ROY GROTZ, Mark, Bob and Jim have moved from York, Nebraska to the old Knotted Rope Ran ch formerly owned by Bill Weatherford. It is now own ed by Dr. Howard Roberts of Walla Walla. The Grotz' raised corn and cattle in Nebraska in a sim ilar type operation. THE MORROW COUNTY Fair will be Aucust 22-25, and rodeo Aug. 26-27 at Hep pner. Homemakers are en couraged to enter home mak ing exhibits in the open class division. There will be many changes at the fair this year. One of these is the "Teen Corner." This is a special open class exhibit area for teenagers only. They may exhibit a wide variety of hand crafted articles. Open class Home Econo mics exhibits will be accept ed August 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. and 8-11 p.m. The deadline for entering exhibits is 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 22. Judging will be done Wednesday, August 23. Superintendents for open class home economics are: Clothing - Marilyn Berg strom; Needlework - Mrs. John Bergstrom, Mrs. Pearl Wright, Mrs. Frieda Majes ke, and Mrs. Ann Bergstrom; Knitting - Mrs. Kenneth Wrig ht; Canning, - Mrs. Riley Munkers, Mrs. Omar Huston; Foods - Mrs. George Currin, Mrs. Darrel Vinson. Falls Tom Green has accepted a position in Klamath Falls as appraiser for the county. He Is a graduate of EasternOre gon College and returned this spring from Vietnam. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Green. Group plans "Flower Day' Flower arranging is fun! At least that's what 4-H club members in Umatilla and Morrow counties are out to prove at a Flower Arrang ing Fun Day. The "Fun Day" will take place Thurs day, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Roy Raley Park in Pen dleton, reports Debbie Bark er, Extension Home Eco nomist. The event will stress selec tion of containers and ma terials, cutting and condition ing flowes, various types of flower arrangements and the principles andclements of de sign. Participants will also be given the opportunity to arrange their own flowers. At Elks National Mr. and Mrs. Dave McLeod drove to Portland Friday to catch a Saturday plane for At lantic City, New Jersey toat tend the National Elks Con vention. They planned to sl ghtsee following the conven tion. They will go " ,0 Florida to visit Dave's sis ter and family. They plan to be back In Heppner July 24. Dave Is Exalted Ruler of the Heppner lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Con lee of Kinzua left Saturday from Portland to attend the same convention. Mr.Conlee is Exalted Ruler of the Con don Lodge.
