BETTY PFEIFFER and husband John came to Hep pner from Seattle 24 years ago and have never regretted the move. Their children grew up in this clean and uncomplicated town, are now married and gone and raising their own families. Both Pfeiffers have enjoyed being involved in many civic, school and church activities over the years. For 24 years the have owned and operated Western Auto on the corner of Willow and Main, Betty has been a Soroptimist serving happily in practically every category. She was president 1959-60 and is presently classifica tion and membership chair man and regional represen tative. She says this is "the finest of organizations". Fishing is her favorite sport j and she looks forward to some j beautiful day when there will j be more time for it. I cannot say, "AND TO THE IDEALS FOR WHICH IT STANDS" If only my mouth speaks the words; It matters not what price you've paid you can't get' gladness ready-made. To get the real and lasting ki nd you have to grow it in your mind. Randall is a mem ber of the Columbia Basin Electric Co-op board of direc tors. In March, they went tc Hawaii fcr their official wed ding trip! They bad fun as well as attending the Nor thwest Jewelers Conference. Another first for Marlene was a trip in April to Wash ington DC. They had lots of sight-seeing besides attend- NORTHW STFRN REGIO NAL GOVERNOR MARGAR ET "PEGGY" COL'SE will attend the Area Day in Hep pner along with the Regio nal Secretary, Dorothy L. Berry, who Is governor -elect and the Regional Treasurer Alice E. Rasmussen. Gov ernor Peggy Is a member of the Bremerton, Wn. Club where she Is classified as: Owner FAMCO Investments Corp. She has had a great deal of executive experience in the Soroptimist Federa tion, having served as Regio nal Treasurer lefore her ele vation to tl position of gov ernor. She has attended all recent Soroptimist Feder ation Conventions in several bienmums and many board meetings. As Regional Gov ernor she presided at the re cent Regional Conference at Great Falls, Montana, on which delegates from clubs of this area will he giving re ports. The three top Re gional officers, Governor Peggy. Secretary Dorothy and Treasurer Alice come here on an "unofficial visit" to observe and assist the six clu(s of this area. I cannot say, " THE JOY OF ACHIE VEMENT" If my yard stick is dollars; presentative Edith Green who had been asked to speak at the Senior Girls luncheon. Due to the press of elec tion year responsibilities plus her normal work load, Mrs. Green said she wouldn't be able to make it this year. Marlene lias three sons by a previous marriage. They are Hal in the Navy at the Tonki n Gulf, Bruce a graduat ing Senior and Mike a sopho more at HeppnerHighSchool. I cannot say. "THE SINCER ITY OF FRIENDSHIP" If my friends are for personal gam; MARY ELEANORGILMAN. a Heppner native, grew up on Willow Creek where her par ents still live and where her paternal grandparents pre viously lived. After public schooling in Heppner, Mary Eleanor attended business college in Portland. She married I wan Gilnuin who is a law officer in pril, 1944. Mary Eleanor is club treasurer this year and will Ite vice president next year. Her hub bies are flower gardening and horseback riding.
