Bon Voyage For Lowes Kinfolk visited Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lowe this weekend as a sort of Bon Voyage for their trip to England they will be making this spring. Here Sat. night were Mrs. Lowe's son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Uobert Scott. Robin, Shane and Da vid of Peak, Idaho and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Stussi of Long Creek. Heppner garden The Heppner Garden Club elected Rev. Ed Cutting as president at their April meet ing held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gonty. Others elected were Mrs. Bill Raw lins, vice president; Mrs. Alice McCabe, secretary treasurer and Mrs. Ola Rug gles, keeper of the scrapbook. Mr. Cutting outlined meet ing places and programs for the next year. Projects dis cussed were for a booth at the Fair, plans to improve the Fountain at the Fair Grounds gate and a spring flower show. Second class pins went to Charles Rawlins, Rob Kck nun, Mirty Smith, Brian Bo ner, Steve Milrom, Steve Mc Laughlin, Bruce Young and David McLarhlan. Alan Bur kenbine, David Allstott and Howard Green have earned their pins and will be pre sented with them later. Merit Badges: Charles Rawlins, Indian Lore; Steve McLaughlin, archery; Jim Mdachlan, First Aid and Bruce Young and David Mc Lachlan both qualified for swimming. The Cub Scouts will have their annual Pine Wood Derby on April 24th at 7:30 at the Elementary School. Scout Troop Com nittee chairman John Gochnauer issued a chal lenge to the three patrols of the Boy Scouts to compete with the Cub Scout winner. The losing group to provide a weiner roast for the win ners. Introduced were Darrell Lachlan, Scout Master; Tom Wilson assistant scout mas ter; Len Ray Schwarz, Cub master; David McLeod, exalt ed ruler of the sponsoring Elks lodge; Glen Ward, Elks representative; Harley Sa ger, scout troop treasurer. The Scout Kick-off break fast for the Scout drive and Camp Wallowa Information was announced. An Awards Night will be held every three months. The Rainbow Girls served at the dinner. Arleta McCabe Marries Mrs. Helen McCabe of lone announced the marriage of her daughter, Arleta to Gary George of Portland. The ceremony was held April 14 at the UnitedChurchofChrist in Beaverton with the imme diate family in attendance. The couple is at home in Beaverton where Gary is em ployed at Hanna Industries and Arleta is a student at Portland Community College studying to be a medical secretary. Spring Luncheon Will Honor Girl Graduates Girls who will graduate from the three county high schools, Riverside, (one, and Heppner, will be honored at a spring luncheon in the All Saints Fpiscojal Church par ish hall on Friday, May 19, by the Soroptimist Club. A graduate of HeppncrlUgh school, Mrs. William T. Hall, the former Mary Jo Stewart, Corvallis, will be guest seaker. In past years the Heppner Soroptimist Club has arranged a Mother's Day mother and daughter tea for girl graduates. This year It was decided to have an affair that might be more enjoyable and perhaps more challenging for all the senior girls of the county and their advisors.
