Jane Krebs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krebs, is home from her studies at Montana State University. Kristin and Chuck Nelson, OSU, were here spring vaca tion with their parents, Mr. ar.d Mrs. Norman Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Lec Crab tree shewed slides of Ger many and Austria on two occasions over the weekend. Mr. ar.d Mrs. Henry Krebs ar.d family viewed the slides on torch 25. .Vr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Palmer en joyed the slides of the two countries the next evening. lone Musical "No, No, A Million Times No!", a musical "meller drammer", w ill be presented by lone High School on Apr. 22, at 7:30 p.m. The one act musical, by Eskel Draw ford with lyrics and music by Bud Thomkins, will be directed by Darrell James and Miss Sara Andrews as sistant director. Debbie and Shirley Baker were home for spring vaca tion from St. Mary's Aca demy, Beaverton. Debbie had her 'tonsils removed during the vacation at St. Anthony's hospital, Pendleton. Their parents. Mr.ar.d Mrs. Dave Baker, drove the girls back to Beaverton Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Davis of Portland visited with Mrs. Ida Coleman over Spring vaca tion. Mr. Davis is employed b the Park Bureau and Mrs. Davis is a teacher in the Portland Schools. Miss Barbara Talley.Ione High School teacher, visit ed her parents in Portland during spring break. Mar. 26, showed Toni Justus, a former lone High School student, on the cheer ing squad for Baker High School. The Baker Bulldogs were in the championship game against Benson for the State AAA title in Portland. Miss Justus was a Cardinal varsity cheerleader during her sophomore year at lone. FIVE TABLES OF PIN OCHLE and one of pedro were in play at the Grange sponsored card party on Mar. 24. Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen won high for the ladies pin ochle game and Mrs. Dean Connors took low. The men's pinochle was won by Mike Matthews, with Joe Gaars land taking low. Lewis Hal vorsen won high in pedro and Lindsay Kincaid had low. Mrs. Vera Rietmann and Mrs. Lindsay Kincaid won travel ing pinochle. Mrs. Cleo Childers, Mrs. Bob Montgo mery, and Mrs. Lee Palmer served on the committee. Play April 22 girl; Lea White Ella city girl; Cassy Cha- pal; Kate, city girl;Melissa McElligott - Duplikato, city girl; Charlie McElligott Oz zie; and Cindi Martin-Minnie Sue. MILTON' MORGAN attended a congressional hearing in Washington D.C. on Mar. 16. He heard Earl Butz, Secretary of Agriculture, speak and attended a con gressional breakfast and a luncheon at the Burlington Hotel. Medical Lake, Wa,. were guests of her uncle, Earl Morgan on Mar. 23. Mrs. Wmia. the former Katie Mor gan was principal of the grade school at Medical lake for twenty years before her re tirement last year. Mr.Wlnia was employed by the state for forty years prior to his retirement. IONE SCHOOL CALENDAR Baseball season will open for the Junior-High School, Mar. 30, when lone will host Heppner at 2 p.m. The third 9 week period will end Mar. 31. Report cards will be issued on Apr. 3. The lone High School ten nis team will open its sea son with a match against Hermiston on April 3, at2.30 p.m. in lone. On Apr. 3 the Portland Pro gnostic Math test will be ad ministered to eighth grade students. The DuferHighSchool base ball team will come to lone for action to begin at 1.30 p.m. on April 4. The lone High School tennis team will have a match with Hermiston at 3 p.m. on Apr. 3, at Hermiston. The Home Economics class will serve a dinner to the lone Advisory Board on, Apr. 6. A meeting will follow the dinner with the public cordially invited. On, Apr. 7, the Junior High baseball team will go to Boardnun to play River side a 1:30 p.m. Band students of Darrell James will participate in the high school band festival at Condon on Apr. 7-8. The lone Junior-high stu dents will have a spring dance Apr. 8. The Freshman class at lone High School will sponsor a movie, "Three on a Couch" starring Jerry Lewis, onSat. April 1, at '6:30 p.m. A "Horror package" willalso be featured. Charges are as follows: $1.00 for adults; .73 for students in grades 7-12; .30 for students in grad es 1-6; and no charge for preschoolers. Joe McElligott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick McElligott, was home for a few days from Helena, Mont, where he attends Carroll College.
