Training will he offered In two locations this year. Training in CorvallLs will be Feb. Ki-18 and In Bond, Feb. 23-25. First two days of each session will be clothing training and the final day knitting. Those wishing to attend arc asked to return ap plications as soon as possible to the county office, as they due in the Stale office by Jan. 21. Anyone with sufficient skill es to become a judge is asked m sewing or knitting who wish to call or write Immediately to receive an application. Those currently Judging are encourag ed to attend the trainings to keep up-to-date on Judging policies, especially those judg ing -4 -1 1 events. Registration fee to attend both sessions is $5. Clothing only is $1, and knitting session only $2. Clothing and knitting 4 II leader who feel they are cap able and interested in judging are Invited to apply to attend. Temporary position is now op en for a graduate home econo most, to be employed as coun ty Extension agent by Oregon State University, through the Umatilla County Kxtcnslon Ser vice. Tho position will be avail able after Jan. 1, for a period of 3 to 6 months. The person employed must have a mini mum of a bachelor's degree, and must have a car. There is a 40 hour week. The position Involves super vising the RISE program, which spelled out means "Reach Inde pendence through Self Employ ment". The program is geared to preparing disadvantaged women for employment. Lex IOOF Has Party There were about 00 members and friends at tho Odd Fellow and Rebckah Lodge party held last week at the Lexington IOOF Hall. Tho evening started with a chicken pot luck dinner. The decorating committee had ar ranged clever centerpieces anil had gifts at the tables for each guest. Birthday cake was serv ed to the following members with birthdays this quarter: Mrs. Ralph Burcham, Mrs. A. F. Majeske, and Mrs. C. C. Jones. The program was the singing of carols, and before each song the history of the carol was read mixer game was enjoyed, and door prizes were won by Mrs. Delsie Chapel and Carl Mar- quarilt. A short Christmas mess age was given by T. E. Messen ger, after which the group en joyed a musical exchange of gifts. The Odd Fellows held meeting while the ladies enjoy ed a six-ial hour including visit ing and card playing. WAC Has Xmas Party Mrs. C. C. Jones entertained the Women's Activity Group of the Grange at her home on Dec 23. Christmas music, enjoyed by all was led by Mrs. Kenneth Smouse and son Carl and Betty Marauardt. Cards were sent to some of the shut-in Grangers. The hostess served to Mrs. Al fred Nelson, Mrs. Norman Nel son, Mrs. Florence McMillan, Mrs. Kenneth Smouse and Carl, Mrs. Ella Burgoyne, Mrs. Wil bur Steagall and Mrs. Carl Mar- quardt. Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Breed ing of Gresham visited his mother Mrs. Lola Breeding one day last week Mrs. Lola Breeding is spend- montns tour or duty. PFC Hams has now returned to Camp Pendleton In Califor nia where he will be stationed until his dischttrge from the service, which Is expected about May. Applications ar still being r reived for the position of hu man roource aide 1, for the county Kxtcnslon Service. Those mplocd will work In the rx puded food and nutrition pro gram on the Indian Reservation and surrounding area. Those employed will work on part time basis. They must have use of a car, and a valid driver's license, Applicnat must be between the ages of 18 and G3. Applicant also must either be from a low income group, or have had experience working with or being with low Income families. The Job will entail working with Individuals and families to Improve diet through better nu trition. A knowledge of nutrit ion Is not required, as those em ployed will receive an Intensive 3 weeks of nutrition training.
