WI Boardman Garden Club Meets Monday Night By MARY LEE MAIULOW BOARDMAN The Boardman Garden Club met Monday, aigbt at the home of Mrs. RoUln jtisn ..Mrs. Roy Ball opened -the meeting by reading "My Lovely Garden." The following officers were In stalled by Mrs. Leo Root, as stated by Mrs. Bishop and Mrs, Hawl Miller: Mrs. Ball, prest dent j Mrs. Walter Hayes, vice president; Mrs. Frank Marlow, secretary; Mrs. Ralph tarwood treasurer. Each was presented with a corsage by Mrs. Root. Mrs. Ball appointed the fol lowing committees for the year: Birds. Mrs. Bishop; cemetery, Mrs, Miller; finance, Mrs. Hayes garden therapy, all members; hospitality, - Mrs.- Arthur Allen; jitterbug, Mrs. Earwood; mem bership, Mrs. Walter Wyss; pub liclty, Mrs. Mar low; scrapbook, Mrs., goot; sunshine, Mrs. Hazel Carpenter. It was voted to not have a meeting in August, and the next one wul be Sept 20 at the home of Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Earwood received the door prize. There were four tables of pi nocrUo in play at the card party held'.feusday at the Greenfield Grange hall, sponsored by the Women's Activity Committee, of the grange. Mrs. Walter Hayes was hostess. High prize was won by Faye Anderson, and low went to Mrs. Arthur Allen. Miss Anderson and Mrs. W. G. Seehafer received the traveling pinochle prizes. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sicard and children Roberta, Kenneth and Peggy Sue and Cynthia Lowe spent Sunday and Monday at Newport. Denlse Paape of Port land,, accompanied them home to visit tli la week. Youngsters to Camp Morrow Pastor Neil King left Sunday with another group of young people for Camp Morrow at Tygh Valley this week. Pastor King wul.be Bible teacher and coun selor at the camp. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Struckmeler and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Noble went with him and took some of the young peo ple. The group included Neta, Tteena and Gale Phillips, Jodi and , flerlta Noble, Martha and CVnihla . King, Pam Daniels, Dale, and pavid Llndcll, Terry Crowder, Bruce Russell, Roberta Sicard. Thev visited Butchart Gardens and the Cralgdarroch Castle, and spent one evening at Sealand where they patched the white killer whale, sea lions and seals, perform at reeding time. After returning to Lynnwoodj the Wilsons soent 2 days at Ocean Park and Long Beach, Wash., before returning home. Mrs. Chappel and her 3 child ren returned to Irrigon with them and plans to make her home here. , , Mr. and Mrs. John Moore and family are moving to Mountain Home, Ark. Mrs.' Moore' ,broth er, Ronnie Hensley plans to make the trip with then to help them move, and will return to Irrigon later. . , Mr. and.Mra. There were 50 members of the Hughes family present at the reunion, and they won the prize for the largest family, pres ent Two brothers and thrie sla ters were there with their fam ilies. The prize was a picture of the old school which they at tended. There Is .now a larger new building in Anthopy. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Dar rel Hobbs in Dayton, Ohio. Mrs. Helen Shannon came ov er from, Dallas Saturday to pick up daughter, Cathy, who has been visiting friends here. Mrs. Sherman told us that son, Jim, leaves today for San Diego for Navy recruit training.- After 10 weeks there, he expects to go to Great Lakes, I1L, for the Na vy nuclear training program.
