I 0 17 MR. and MRS. CHRIS LOVCREN Lovgren-Sundin Vows Repeated Mr. and Mrs. Chris Lovgren are here for the summer follow ing their marriage June 26 at St. Mary's Church in Pendleton. Mrs. Lovgren, the former Terri Sundin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sundin of Pen dleton and Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lovgren of Heppner. Father Van Beveral officiated at the wedding. The couple took their vows in front of the altar decorated with baskets filled with pink and white gladioli. The bride given in marriage by her father wore a floor length lace layered gown with long sleeves. Her shoulder length veil was held in place with crochet ed flowers with diamond spark lers. She carried a crescent shaped bridal bouquet of white carnations and red roses. Diane Sundin was maid of honor. She wore a floor length pink dress with an A line skirt and empire waist. She had a pipnk circlet of net on her hair and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations. . Timmy Sundin, the bride's brother was ring bearer and candle lighters were Tom Sun din, another brother, and John ny Burak. Frank Halvorsen was best man and Greg Hoy was usher. John Nooey sang Ava Maria and The Lord's Prayer accompa nied by Jill Hodgen. Reception At Bride's Home The wedding reception fol lowed at the home of the bride's parents. Her sisters served. Lyn ette Sundin served the punch, Sharon Sundin the cake and Teresa Sundin had the guest book. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Sundin wore a green and blue and white checked dress with matching accessories. Her corsage was yellow rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother wore a pink and white flower dress with pink accessories and a pink and white carnation cor sage. For going away the bride wore a dark brown plaid dress, Drown accessories and a yellow orchid Their plans for this fall are uncertain. Chris attended BMCC where he majored in Technical Agriculture and is working this summer for his uncle on the Jerry Dougherty ranch. Mrs Loveren also attended BMCC where she majored in Secretar ial Science. . She worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton and is now employed at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. Something New Added at Hospital Ilene Wyman, administrator of Pioneer Memorial Hospital, has inaugurated something new for the parents of babies born at the hospital. The night before the mother is to leave the hospital, a can dle light steak supper is served to her and her husband. The first couple to be so honored was Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ras-mussen. Kathryn Ann was born July 30 weighing 6 lb., 3 oz. Her bro thers are Mike, Gregory, Math ew, Tom and Kristopher. She has a sister Karen. The Rasmussens were enthus iastic about the dinner together and enjoyed the rest of the evening visiting ana piaying cards. Attend Ukiah is concluding her two-year term of office. Mrs. Dorothy Elliott, Portland, has served as conven tion chairman. In addition to daily business sessions the six-day convention includes the awarding of $62,000 in graduate scholarships to 19 members and six foreign edu cators and of the international educator's award to an out standing woman author for her book on education. Winner this year is Lisa A. Richette, Phila delphia attorney and author of Throwaway Children. Among committee chairmen In attendance at the Portland gathering from this area is Mrs. Velva Bechdolt, Heppner, mem ber of Iota chapter, who was in charge of arranging for the many placards to direct the vis itors about the convention. Mrs. Alma Morgan, Mrs. Jim Thomson and Heidi Albert, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Al bert and Mrs. E. E. Gonty were in Ukiah last Wednesday to at tend Housewarming for Mrs. Gonty's daughter, Mrs. Terry Blevins. Mr. and Mrs. Blevins recently completed construction , of a log house. Friends in Ukiah planned the affair attended by 27 friends and neighbors. The Blevins were j presented with a lace table cloth. ELKS NOODLE FEED Winn's Noodle Feed, family style will be served at the Elk's club for Elk families and out of town guests. Serving will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 9. Parents of Exceptional Children Meet On July 22, a group of 17 parents and friends interested in organizing an Association oi r.x reptlonal Children in Morrow County met at the Heppner Neighborhood Center. It was de cided to delay organization un til after meeting with the Uma tilla County Association of Re tarded Children on Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church. The Umatilla County program at Adams was reviewed. Ron Daniels noted that the Morrow County School District is inter ested in doing all they can for these children. The district pays $30 per month for each child enrolled in a private school (this is in lieu of transporta tion and the district cannot pay tuition for a private school. The district will also pay full tuit ion plus $1.00 a day for expens es for each child enrolled in a public school. The two basic problems as far as the Morrow County School District Is concerned, is obtain ing a qualified teacher and the range in age and educability of these youngsters. Mrs. Adello LaTrace and her daughter Teresa Wright, accom panied by Bill Weatherford left Monday for a circle trip through Yakima to Seattle and Bremer ton and back through Olympia, Tacoma and Castle Rock, Van couver, Portland and home. They have relatives they will visit in each town. Teresa and Bill will leave this month for three years in the service and wanted to see the relatives before they left. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Nikander. Portland, are the parents of a 4 lb., 15 oz. baby boy born July 10, in Portland. He has been named Alan Leroy and both he and his mother are reported do ing nicely. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Nikander, Heppner; and Mrs. Lindstrom, of Sterling, Colo. Irrigon Bride To Be Honored Bv FRANCES ROSE WILSON IRRIGON Friends of Vicky Hobbs are invited to attend a bridal shower in her honor on Aug. 11 at 7:30 In the parson age basement of the Assembly of God Church. The wedding date has been set for Aug. 23, when she will marry Vernon Mesteth. They plan to attend BMCC In Pendleton this fall. Grandchildren in "Paint Tour Wagon" Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Christ iansen and Etta Lou saw the movie "Paint Your Wagon" re cently, while vUltlng their dau ghter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cooley In Burbank, Wash. The Christiansens had a sDecial interest In the movie since their grandchildren were In it The twins are the child ren of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Creighton, of Baker, and were 2 months old at the filming. They are now 2 years old. Etta Lou recently returned from a 2 week visit with the Creightons, and presently Is vis Iting Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cooley at Burbank. The all school reunion met at the A. C. Houghton Elementary School, Sunday, for a potluck luncheon. The light hearted con versation ran along the theme of "do you remember when". Among those attending were former teachers, Mrs. Ruth Coy, and Mrs. Ruth Bentley: Those coming from Hermiston were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hughs and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hughs and family, Mrs. Bob Frazler, Sally Couch of Charles ton, Mrs. Guy Parke, of Port land, Mrs. Rodney (Marie) Bern ard, of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Don Leighton, and family, Mrs. Chester Wilson, Mrs. LaVelle Partlow. Adams Family on Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams and sons returned Sunday evening from a vacation trip through Central Oregon to Bend, where they visited Lava River Ice Caves, returning by Crater Lake and up the Oregon Coast. Points of special Interest were Sea Lion Caves, and Dune buggy rides while staying at Bullard beach and at Winchester Buy. They visited at the Lee Gustav son home, former Irrigon resi dents in Portland, and went to the Multnomah County Fair. Mrs. Loon Bentley returned from a vacation trip through Idaho with her daughter and granddaughter, Mrs. Curtis Stephens and Patricia of Her miston. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams In Lewis ton, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. August 6. 1970 'Let's Keep in Touch' Is Sperry Motto The Sperry Family Reunion was again held at Hat Rock State Park Aug. 2. There were 48 descendants and friends of Emry and Frances Sperry pres ent. Mrs. Margraet Thomas and Mrs. Delsle Chapel were the on ly two daughters present Mrs. Bert Ward, another daughter, living In Townsend, Mont., was unable to attend. People came from Dayton, Wn.; Walla Walla, Portland, Bend, Hermiston, Heppner, lone and Condon. The day was spent visiting and getting acquainted again, while the young people went swimming. Mrs. Joel Kngelraan and Cassy Chapel are in charge of arrangements for next year and are to complete the scrap book. "Let's Keep In Touch" was our motto this year. Some coming far and others near We meet this day of every year, To greet our loved ones we hold so dear. We pause In memory of those not here Then take up our lives with its pleasures and care. One day a year really Isn't much For Family and Friends "lo keep in touch." Happy Birthday To Frank Mr. and Mrs. Sam McDanlel spent Wednesday, July 29, In Monument with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howell. The occasion was to help Frank celebrate his 83rd birthday. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Howell and son Paddy, and Mrs. Sam Howell and two children. On Thursday evening, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Len Ray Schwarz was the scene for a family dinner.
