SiZETTE-TIMES 8 Thuri January 1, 1970 Larson - Hatter Nuptials Read in Kinzua Church KINZUA - In a single ring ceremony Friday evening at the Kinzua Community Church, Miss Charlotte Hatter, daughter of Mrs. Robert Kaufman of North Bend and Wallace Hat ter of Springfield, became the bride of Larry Larson, son of Mrs r.pnrcann Nichols of The Dalles. The service was read by Rev. Edwin Derrick before ine altar decorated with bouquets of flowers and lighted candles. The bride, escorted to the al tar by her step father, Robert Kaufman, wore a long dress of pale blue satin fashioned with an overblouse and long sleeves of white lace. Her elbow length veil was held in place with a pearl tiara and she carried a white orchid on a white Bible. Mrs. John Jackson of Kinzua served as matron of honor and wore a street length dress of blue sheer and her corsage was of white carnations. David Seltz of Fossil served as best man. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Robert Kelso who also accompanied Mrs. Troy Day and Mrs. Don Cory when they sang 'The Twelfth of Never" and "One Heart, One Hand". Mrs. Kaufman, the bride's mother, wore a brown suit and had a corsage of pink carna tions while Mrs. Nichols wore a grey print dress and had a purple orchid corsage. Immediately after the cere monv. a recentlon was held In the church annex where a three tiered cake, baked and decorat ed in blue and white by Mrs. Doug Sargent, centered the ser ving table. The cake was top ped with a bride and groom. After the young couple cut and shared the first slice of cake, It was cut and served by Mrs. Lar ry O'Neall, sister of the groom, while another sister, Mrs. Doug als Sargent served the punch. Both Mr. and Mrs. Larson had attended schools in Kinzua and Fossil and Larry has completed his service with the U. S. Ar my. They will make their home at North Bend. Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sitton were Mr. and Mrs. David Sitton and Debbl of Grand Coulee, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sears of Hunting ton Beach, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Steagall and family of Al bany. Mrs. Cora Burnside of Spray, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nlckelsen and Tiffani and Miss Rita Sitton of Kinzua. Mr. and Mrs. John Wenser went to Bend last Wednesday to spend Christmas with rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. James Nyseth nnd dauehter Jean went to Rickreall on Wednesday to snend Christmas w th Mr. and Mrs. Harold Leppin and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Danniel Bell and family of Portland spent Christmas visiting with Mr. ana Mrs. Robert Kelso and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bell. Sr.. In Fossil. Charles and Dick Allen went to Weiser, Idaho last Monday to brine- theiir urandmother. Mrs. C. V. Allen to Kinzua to have Christmas with her son Vincent and grandsons Charles, Dick and Bob. Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Bell and family spent the Christmas hol idays with relatives in Baker. Spending Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Conner and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Benson were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Benson of Albany. ALso at the Conners were Mr. and Mrs. David Lov ell of Albany. To Saltn Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Woods and Max went to Salem Wed nesday to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Logan and family. They also went on to Eugene to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Woods and family. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Peterson and Cheryl of Portland spent Christmas here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Muzzy. Joe Bowman of Portland ar rived home last Monday to spend until after the first of the year with his parents, Mr. KtM!N I1 'in' i ' 'V7 . 'WOW "I know I turned out all the lights and locked the doors . . . but I think I left the tooth brush running!" and Mrs. Jiggs Bowman. Enjoying Christmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wall and son John were Mrs. Wall's mother, Mrs. Victoria Bi ble of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Mitt Boring, and Miss Genlne Hardwick of John Day. Mr. and Mrs. David Ostrand cr and son of Fossil spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wham, Vickl and Kenny of Port land. Mr. nnd Mrs. Roy Keller and family of Madras spent Christ mas day visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Don Cory and family. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Grogan of Weston arrived Saturday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Sharp. Visit at Bend Hospital Spending Christmas with Richard Mortlmore and his fam ily were Mrs. Howard Mortimore and grandson Bill Schultz of Twickenham, Don Risland of Mitchell, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns of Boise, Idaho. On Sat urday Richard and his family and his mother went to Bond to visit his father, Howard Mortl more, at St. Charles Hospital. Sgt. and Mrs. Kenneth Norrls and son Kenny of Spanaway, Wn, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris. From Joseph Mr. and Mrs. Rick Recce of Joseph spent Christmas visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Van Ars dale and family and with Mr. and Mrs. Rick Reece. Wherthcy erturned to Joseph Friday, the Rick Reece's went with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Todd and son Gary and Mr. and Mrs. Den zil White and daughter Susan went to Hermlston Wednesday to spend Christmas with Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Hollomon and daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Mur dock went to Portland Wednes day to spend Chlrstmas with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bell and family. Mrs. Bell and the children re turned home with them and Mr. Bell will come on Tuesday to take them home. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hardwick went to John Day Tuesday to bring their daughter Genine home for Christmas. All of them went to John Day on Christmas to have dinner with Mr. and Mrs. John Hardwick and then on Saturday they went to Ba ker to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stoll. Another Pioneer Lady Passes Hannah Christine Anderson, 75 years of age, died at her home in Heppner on Dec. 29. She was born June 16, 1894 in the Eightmile district of Morrow County. Her parents were Olaf and Carolyn Olson florgstrom. They were among the first homesteaders in the Eightmile area. Mrs. Anderson's husband, Bon, preceded her in death in 1962. During his lifetime, they had operated a wheat ranch at Eightmile. Surviving are three sisters, Esther Bergstrom, Emma Long and Florence Becket, Heppner, Brothers Alfred of Portland and Edwin of Stanfield and nieces and nephews in this area. She was a member of Valby Lutheran Church. Funeral ser vices were held Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Hope Lutheran Church In Heppner with the Rev. Samuel Glodenman of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hermis ton officiating. Vault Interment followed at Heppner Masonic Cemetery with Sweeney Mortu ary in care of arrangements. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gray and Sheridan Ann entertained at Christmas dinner for Mrs. Grace Buschke, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamlin, Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Buschke, Kyle, Mike and beott Allen and Roy Massey, all of Heppner and Mrs. Lena Wright of La Grande. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Wish You a Mer ry Christmas, played games, en- William Spurlock Dies William Milton Spurlock, Pen dleton, passed away on Dec. 24, 19C9 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born on Dec. 7, 1895, in Sweden, Mo. Mr. Spurlock came to Morrow County following World War II, of which he was a veteran. In 1929 he was mar ried to Florence Cason who pre ceded him in death in 1945. They resided in Heppner and for many years he was empioyeu by the State Highway Depart ment. He moved to Pendleton and was employed at St. Anthony Hospital until his retirement several years ago. In 1947 he was married to Veda Breding of Pendleton. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion, a mem ber of the Disabled Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He made frequent trips to Morrow County where he visited friends and relatives and enjoyed hunt ing and fishing. He is survived by his wife Veda; four sisters, Mrs. Alta Edeer. HeDDner. Funeral services for Mr. Spur lock were held at 10:00 a.m. at Folsoms' Funeral Chapel, Pen dleton, with the Rev. Arthur Baehmann officiating. Casket bearers were Gilbert Petty?, Paul Jones, William McPherson, James Weber, Don McGee and Robert Oliver, all of Pendleton. Concluding services and burial were at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery, with Hubert Wilson representing the Heppner Amer ican Legion Post No. 87. Sheryl Britt is home from the University of Oregon for Christ mas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Britt. She is a freshman at the University and expects to enter the U of O School of Nursing in June. She says the best thing about being home Is going to the bas ketball games. Contract for driving the well was awarded A. A. Durand of Walla Walla. Wash., In Novem ber by thrf City Council. His con tract calls for a price of $10 per foot for the first 3000 feet, with an Increase of $1 per foot for each hundred feet therealtcr. The well is to be drilled on land obtained from Frank Wil kinson. Uncle Sam will begin to count his nephews and nieces on the first of April, 1930, and this year he is going to find out a lot more about them than that has been known before. A total of twenty-four questions will be asked concerning age, sex, color, mar ital status, place of your birth and your parent's birth and If you are able to read and write. Glen Kelsay Funeral in Spray Glen (Bill) Kelsay, 69, died Dec. 24 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. He was born July 20, 1900 in Fossil, the son of Lan nas and Ethel Powell Kelsay, and was a lifetime resident of Wheeler County. He had recently retired after serving as Post master at Spray for 22 years. Mr. Kelsay and Laurel Bax ter were united in marriage in Spray on June 2, 1928. Besides his Aife, he Is survived by one son, Bobby of John Day and two daughters, Carolyn Britt of Heppner and Georgia Fletcher of Fossil and six grandchildren. One sister, Vera Huntington of Madras, also survives. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Assem bly of God Church in Spray with the Rev. George Ingersol officiating and interment follow ed at the Fossil cemetery with Sweeney Mortuary in care of ar rangements. in the ) every you. .
