Rudolph of the Umntllla National Forest Is Issuing a temporary Special Use Permit to Skyline Basin inc., for the Skyline Basin Winter Soorts Area. This Dermlt will al low the proponents a year in which to arrance for financial backing and preparing detailed construction plans for the de velopment of this winter sports area. Roy Martin was elected for a three year term, and chairman for the next 12 months. Allen Hughes was elected to a two year term, and vice chairman for the next year. Ival Sullivan has served two years of a three year term and will be serving his last year of lhat term during 1970. The County ASC Committee is responsible for the local admin istration of the federal Farm programs such as: The Feed Grain and Wheat Diversion pro grams, Commodity Loan pro grams, Wool Incentive program, Agricultural Conservation pro gram (ACT) and any other pro grams passed by Congress and diiected to the ASC Committees for administration. In the administration of these programs the Committee must protect the interest of the pub lic as well as that of the par ticipating farmers. Game Commission Stocks Bird Areas In addition to wild popula tions of ringneek pheasants, Oregon bird shooters will have around 12,500 pen-raised roost ers to line their sights on dur ing the general pheasant and quail season set to open on Oct ober 18. This Is the number of adult cocks to be released for the gun oy me uame commission into the various pheasant shooting areas of the state. Good num bers of roasters will be stocked for the opening week-end, with the remainder to be released at intervals through the season. During the summer months the commission released from its E. E. Wilson Game Farm around 6,000 young birds of the year. which will also be fully grown and available to gunners. An additional 3,500 adult birds, both hens and roosters, were releas ed last spring during the egg laying period at the farm. Many of the hens were expected to nest in the wild and bring off broods of youngsters. All birds are released in areas where the general public has access, such as game manage ment areas, refuges and pre serves open to hunting, and var ious farms and ranch lands which are open to hunting by permission. Although game farm birds provide only a small percentage of the total pheasants taken byj hunters annually, they da pro vide supplemental shootlnjj In areas of henvy hunting pressure or where populations of birds are low. Hunters are reminded that the feathered head must be left at tached to all upland game birds while In the field or in transit. Army Student Nurse Loan Deadline Set The winter quarter deadline for nursing students who would like to apply for financial as sistance through the Army Stu dent Nurse Program is October 20, Captain Barbara Zebbs, Ar my Nurse Corps Counselor, not' ed today. captain Sebbs said nursing students in their second or third year of college leading to eith er a nursing diploma or a Bach elor of Science degree may be eligible to enter the program and receive financial assistance while they attend college. But if they wish to start receiving assistance during their winter quarter this year, they should apply right away. Applicants tor the plan must be between 18 and 25 years of age, citizens or the United States, physically qualified and have high personal, scholastic and moral qualifications.
