Mrs. Carmen French, presl dent of the lone Garden club, accompanied by Mrs. Helen Martin. Mrs. Norma Rea. Mrs Jo Huston. Mrs. Delta Huber and Mrs. Lou Crum, attended the Blue Mt. District No. io meet ins of the Garden Clubs in Pen dleton. The district holds two annual meetings each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. This fall meeting was held at the Tapadera. Because of the untimely pass ing of Dist. 10 director, Mrs. Elaine Rietmann, Mrs. Elaine Dallas of Pendleton, assistant director, presided at the meet ing and will finish the term as director. Mrs. Dallas Is from the Dirt Dabbers Club In Pen dleton. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Kincald left Friday for Caldwell, Idaho, to attend the wedding of Mrs. Kincaid's cousin, Pat Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. liar- old Wright. On their return trip on Sunday, they visited in Ba ker at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carol Miller. Mr. Miller was the band instructor in lone several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Turner and sons, Monte and Mike Rowell, of Eugene were week-end guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Drake. Three friends of Mike's, Bennie Dean and Dick and Bill Fuller, also of Eugene, accompanied the Turners to lone for a week-end of deer hunting. Bennie was the only successful hunter In the group. Mr. and Mrs. Tom White or nn.i wan also present. The fam ily left on Friday and (spent the evening with Mr. wison s mui er. Bertha Nelson, at the Ter-willlL-er Plaza in Portland. They intended the first exhibition hockey game of the season at the coliseum. The first game was between the San Diego Culls and the Salt Lake Golden Kagles. The second game saw the Portland Buckaroos against the Seattle Totems. The family also visited with their son, Chuck, while at Oregon State. The combination Legion and Auxiliary pot luck dinner held List Tuesday was well attend ed, with over fifty members and guests in attendance. Bonnie Akers ccompanicd them home from Monmouth to spend tne weeK- end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Berl Akers. WAC will meet at the home Mrs. Berl Akers on Friday, October 17. It will be an all iv meeting with members ask ed to bring salads or desserts. Leslie Madden and Hon saint Marie of Portland spent the eek-end at the home of Les lie's mother, Mrs. Elby Akers. They went deer hunting with Ron being the only successlul unter. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Beggs of Boise spent Thursday through Sunday at the home of their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beggs. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Wilson and family have moved into the Marjorie Baker ranch home. Friends in the area were no tified that Alvy Barlow suffer ed a stroke on Sunday evening and is in Pioneer Memorial hos pital. He was found Monday morning by relatives. The lone Library Board met Monday and announces that Mrs. Bill (Marilyn) Rietmann is the new librarian. Luedde as early as possible. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rietmann, who will again be in charge of the annual church auction and barbecue, are already planning for the 1970 event. Anyone with suggestions, or anyone who wishes to be on a particular committee should contact them. During the winter months, it ems could be made for this very worthwhile event. Last Thursday the first fall meeting of the Women's Fellow ship met-at the parsonage with Anna Lee James and Allison Luedde as hostess. Mrs. Darrell Wilson, president, presided over the meetinJ. Mrs. Kenneth Smouse was elected worship chairman replacing Mrs. Blaine Chapel who had resigned. Plans were made to serve dinner for the youth-adult workshop in the near future. Mrs. Fred Mar tin led the group in worship, assisted by Rev. Luedde. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Bill Rietmann on October 23. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Meyers and family recently spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyers at Im naha. Mr. and Mrs. Arland Emert of Sebastopol. Calif., surprised his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pettyjohn, on Sunday with a short visit on their way home I following a visit at Raymond, Wn., with Mrs. Emert's parents. Princesses for the Homecom ing Dance to be held at the lone cafetorium have been cho sen by the classes. Senior class princesses are Linda Pettyjohn and Lynn Justus; junior class, Jane Krebs: sophomore class, Jackie Howton; freshman class, Nancy Ashurst. The Letterman's Club will vote on the queen and her name will be announced at half-time of the lone-Helix foot ball game on Friday. October 10, played at lone. Crowning ceremony will be Saturday eve- The lone High school girls are playing volleyball under the coaching of Mrs. Dennis McKay, Girls from grades 9 through 12 have four teams. Two games have been played thus far, both with Riverside, one here and one at Riverside. The girls have come out on the short end of the scoring but will improve with practice.
