HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES. Thurador. September 14. 1967 School Bell (Ed. Note: This is the first of a series of articles con cerning education. The artic les will appear in issues of the Gazette-Times during the school year. The prade school and high school will contrib ute the stories on alternate weeks. This week's article concerns a science question posed in Mrs. Meador's science class last week. The students 7th and 8th graders were to ask a question of an adult, a Erade school student, a pre school child, a high school student, and anyone else they could find). Seventh and students made Heppner upper elements r y school. The question was, "Why do stars twinkle?" These are some of the answers received. Adult Reflections of the sun or moon. Pre-school they twinkle be cause they go round and round because God makes them. Pre-school thev wink at us. Third grade because thev are light. Sixteen-year-old because ; tney want to. Seven-year-old when they smile. Kindergarten have pretties on them. Five-year-old I don't know. I've never been there. Kindergarten light Inside keeps blinking on and off. Eight -year-old piece of the sun broke off and is on fire. Kindergarten God made them twinkle. Eleven-year-old Go look it up in an encyclopedia. Third grade little lights that twinkle! God shuts them off and on and turns them on at eighth grade ' night and shut them off in the a survey at ! daytime. nve-year-oid turds living around way up there make them twinkle. Six-year-old Martians, but there aren't any Martians, I guess. Six-year-old the wind gets in the way. Seven-year-old a doll makes the stars twinkle. Kindergarten Jesus. First grade they are on fire. The young people's choir of All Saints' Episcopal church has begun its weekly rehearsals ev ery Wednesday evening immed iately following the Evensong service which takes place at 7 p.m. The choir is composed of children of the parish from the third grade on up, and the re hearsals are ended at an early hour for the school children.
