Club Entertains At Tatone Home By MART LEE MABLOW BOARDMAN Mrs. Joe Tatone was hostess Sunday evening for the annual Sweetheart Dinner of the Boardman Tillicum club with 25 attending. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Kaseberg of Wasco, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gronquist of Pendleton. Mrs. Kaseberg is District No. 7 pres ident of the Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skoubo, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Russell. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Donovan, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Donovan, Mr. and Mrs. Dewev West, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hutchings, Mrs- Roy Partlow, LaVern Partlow, Zoe Billings, and Joe Tatone. The Tatone's showed slide pictures of their trip to Hawaii. New stop signs are to be put at all intersections in the city, which will be in the center of the street. These are replacing all signs at the side, some of which have been knocked down. The suggestion was made at the city council meeting last week that the intersection of Boardman Avenue and Second Street be made a four way stop. The fire department will soon be mailing telephone stickers with the department number to all city residents and larmers on the project. When these ar rive they are to be put on the phones. In other action the decision was made until further notice all water used above the mini mum of 6,000 gallons will be charged at irrigation rates. ThU is due to many residents start ing lawns. A new flag will be purchased for the city halL Following the council meet ing the Urban Renewal Agency held a short session and voted to sell city lots to Delbert Ball, Vernon Russell and Carroll Donovan. at 12:30. Mrs. Walter Hayes was co-hostess. Mrs. Nathan Thorpe was present from Hermiston, bringing with her as guests her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Larry Thorpe and Mrs. Bill Thorpe. Mrs. Rollin Bishop was also a guest. Discussion was held on the hiring of a janitor for the grange hall, and Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Tatone were appoint ed to bring the subject up at the next grange meeting. Mrs. W. G. Seehafer brought materials to be distributed among the members to be made up for a spring bazaar, also a doll to be dressed. Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Tatone were appointed hostesses for the next card party at the grange hall February 21. The next meeting will be a clean up day at the hall March 8, starting at 10 a.m., with the men to be invited to help. There will be a potluck dinner at noon. Cafeteria menus for Riverside High school and Boardman Grade school for the week of February 20-24 are as follows: Monday hot dogs and relish, potato chips, peas and carrots and cupcakes; Tuesday chick en with noodles, tossed salad, French bread and fruit; Wed nesday pizza, buttered corn, vegetable sticks and cherry crunch; Thursday 6 tew, cheese sticks, biscuits with jelly and ice cream; Friday Fish sticks, Tartar sauce, green beans, rolls and pineapple upside down cake. Bread, butter and milk are served with all meals. Cooks Travel South For Vacation Trip Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cook re turned Sunday, February 12, i from a trip which took them j the past month into New Mcx-1 ico, Arizona and California, i They were able to spend a week ! with their daughter-in-law and ; granddaughter, Mrs. Larry Cook, Jr., and Cathy, in Albuquerque, i N. M., while Mrs. Cook was on i vacation from her work there with the Atomic Energy Com- mission. Leaving Albuquerque in a snowstorm, Mr. and Mrs. Cook j thon went on south to visit the historical town of Tombstone, Ariz. They toured Nogales and 1 crossed the border for a short distance into Mexico, returning north through Tucson and Park er, on the Arizona-Lamornia border. They spent two weeks In Parker enjoying the sun shine and friendliness of the small community. Unable to stay away from a school lunchroom kitchen, Mrs. Cook enjoyed a visit at the grade school kitchen in Parker before leaving there. They found the weather cool much of the way. The board of the Boardman Park and Recreation District met here at the city hall last week with H. S. Cox of Salem, from the state highway depart ment, and members of the county court. Judge Paul Jones, and commissioners Jack Van Winkle and Walter Hayes. The decision was made to apply for state marine funds for devel opment of the Boardman Water front Park, which Is to be made in the John Day Pool area. Mrs. Joe Tatone was hostess for the Home Economics Club of Greenfield Grange at her home Wednesday afternoon of last week, starting with lunch Mrs. George Corwin of Wins ton, Ore. was a visitor one day last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen. She Is a former resident here some 30 years ago, when her husband was superintendent of the local school. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Higuera and children Susan, Karen and Jpff of Othello, Wash, were week-end visitors at the home of Mrs. Higuera's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bedord, and her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fergus on. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest! Thomas. Obermeler were their daughter, Mrs. Bill Thorpe and children Connie and Billie of Hermiston, and their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Obermeier and her moth er, Mrs. Lloyd Wegner of St. Helens. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Getz of Hood River were week-end visitors at the home of Mrs. Getz" parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rash. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Partlow and son of La Grande were week-end visitors at the home of Partlow's mother, Mrs. La Vern Partlow. The next card party at the grange hall sponsored by the Home Economies Club of Green field Grange will be held Feb ruary 24. at 8 p.m. Hostesses will be Mrs. Walter Hayes and Mrs. Joe Tatone. Mrs. Frank Marlow went to Pendleton Sunday to attend a birthday dinner in honor of her brother, Harold Hartle, at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Smith. She spent the night at the home of another sister, Mrs. Clarence Mrs. W. G. Seehafer and Mrs. Glen Carpenter attended the session of Pomona Grange last Saturday at the Willows Grange hall in lone.
