July 7. 196$ New Restaurant Underway In New Boardman Area Bt mart lee marlow BOARDMAN A new restaur ant and lounge which will seat 225 people Is now under con struction by Joe Tatone in the new Boardman townsite. A two storv all daylight struc ture, 60 x 100 feet, it will have 6.000 square feet of dintnc and lounpe space on the first floor, and 4.000 square feet of ban quet space on the second floor. It is in modern western design and will be called the Dodge City. Tatone is acting as general contractor for his building and stated that he anticipated about 90 days for construction. Week-end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl McQuaw included their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Lar vik of Hillsboro; McQuaw's mother, Mrs. Jennie McQuaw of Portland; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McQuaw and children Denise and Billy of Newhall, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McQuaw of Seattle, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Maynard McQuaw and Mr. and Mrs. Bob McQuaw and daugh ters Pat and Pam, all of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Phil LaCombe spent the week-end in Portland visiting Mrs. LaCombe's uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Handy. Her sister. Marty Ed wards of Jerome, Idaho, return de home with them to visit two weeks after visiting in Portland and Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Seehafer were hosts for a picnic July 4 on the lawn at their home. Pres ent were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Skiles of Irrigon, Mrs. Esther Emmons of La Grande, Judy Emmons of Caldwell. Idaho, Eva LaChance. Mrs. Leo Root spent the week end in Portland visiting at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mefford. and to see her nephews, Mr. and Mrs. William Mefford and Bob Mefford who were there from Waldiwck, N'. J. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marquardt and seven children -of Lexing ton visited Sunday at the home of Mrs. Marquardt's uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Zearl Gil lespie, and Mrs. Claud Coats. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West spent the week-end in Elgin visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker and children Ron, Randy, Karen and Knsty have returned home from a ten day trip which took them to San Francicso, Calif, where they visited at the home of -Mrs. Baker's uncle and aunt. Col. and Mrs. Robert Heald, of Pomona, Calif., to visit at the home of Baker's cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Becker, and to Disney land, Los Angeles,, Knott's Ber ry Farm, Las Vegas, Nev., Salt Lake City, returning by way of Payette, Idaho where they vis ited Mrs. Baker's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Carpenter. Wn., last week-end to attend a reunion of the Class of r.'.'Hi of which Bob was a member. The group met on Saturday and again on Sunday for a picnic. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Splvey moved to Baker last Sunday where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. M. F Hulelt went to Portland last weeK-emt to visit with Mr. ami Mrs, Mel vln t Corky I Hulett and get acquainted with their new grunddaughter Nancy Marie. Mrs. Tom Jordan entertained Monday with a birthday party for her son Craig who was five years old. The youngsters play ed games, enjoyed birthday cake with all the trimming and watched Craig open his gifts. Those helping Craig cele orate were Leslie and Tlmmy Jordan, Maxlne, Joyce, Florence and Johnny Hawk, Mike Med lock, Roger and Karl Mortlmore, Klmbcrly, Benny and Rocky Brltt, and Andrea Campbell. Mothers helping were Barbara Mortlmore and Theda Brltt. Mrs. Betty Murdock was the hostess Tuesday for a coffee hour to honor Nancy Hawks' new son, Billy Wayne, who was born on June 3. Bringing gifts to the baby were Kutli Jordan, Barbara Mortlmore, Mae James, Etta Ferrel, Lola Ferrel, Joan nle Howell, Eva DcMeritt, and Carol Norrls. Unable to be pres ent but sending a gift was Jean Medlock. Mm. Ken will be home until July 24 when he will go to McChord AFB at Taeoma, Wash, Mrs. Frank Connor brought her mother, Mrs. Margaret Rip pee, to Pioneer Memorial hospit al from Stanfield on Wednesday, June 29. Mrs. Rippee is a former resident of this area having lived on farms on Rhea Creek and at Eight Mile. She later lived at Boardman and Stan field. She would very much en joy seeing old friends at the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barratt and children of Corvallls visited the Bob Jones family the afternoon of the 2nd of July. They were en route to a Canadian vaca tion and planned to visit in Spokane with the Bill Barratts. Mrs. Jim Barratt and Bob Jones are cousins.
