Pinochle was played and Irene Samples won high, Rita Conlee won low, and floating went to Myrna Zitek and Carol Norris. Others participating were Jean Ann Adams, Jean Mcdlock, VI Slinkard, Naomi Rice, Kosie Graham, Ann Bastian, and Mar ilyn Bailey. Mrs. Earl Norris and son Ken neth were in Bend Thursday (or medical attention for Mrs. Not ris. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Sharp were business and shopping vis itors to Pendleton on Saturday. Mr. O'Harra re turned home on Friday from Walla Walla but returned again on Sunday and remained for a few days. Mrs. A. F. Majeske and Mrs. Florence McMillan motored to Salem on Sunday where they attended the Rebekah Assembly of Oregon as delegates. Also going down was Mrs. Archie Munkers who is a state officer. Laddie Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Henderson left from Portland last Thursday morning for his station in the Far East. Laddie was supposed to have had two weeks leave at his home but part of the time was cancelled. All of the family visireu Wednesday night with another son, Larry, at Hood Kiver. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Palmer have lxen recent Portland visitors. Lexington Three Links club met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Vic Groshens. There were nine members present. Fol lowing the business meeting re freshments were served by the hostess. Birthday cake honored the birthday club member of the month, Mrs. Catie Padberg. Next meeting is scheduled for the home of Mrs. Charles Colley. Clarence Hays and daughter Candy from Corvallis were Lex ington callers this week. Mrs. Earl Warner returned home with them after a visit at the Hays home in Corvallis and the Ver non Warner home in Portland. John Darnielle visited at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Vic Grosh ens and family last week. He was enrouto to his station in the Far East. John is with the U. S. Navy. Rockhounds to Meet Morrow County Gem and Min eral club will meet Saturday at 8 p.m. at the old city library. Program will be the showing of Mrs. Edna Turner's pictures. Kinzua Friends Have Shower for Miss Barzee By VIRGINIA KELSO KINZUA Miss Mavis Barzee, bride-elect of Paul Oyler, was guest of honor at a bridal show er Sunday afternoon in the Kin zua church annex. The gift table was centered with a bride doll with a white wedding bell sus pended above it. Miss Barzee opened her many lovely gifts assisted by her mother, Mrs. Del bert Barzee. Mr. and Mrs. George Smith moved Saturday to Vernonia where thev will make their home. Their new address is 642 Rose Avenue. Mrs. Jack Bailev (Paulette Muzzy) was guest of honor Fri day evening at a stork shower given for her at the Kinzua church annex. The room was at tractively decorated with storks guarding the many beautifully wrapped packages. In the ab sence of the guest of honor, who was at that time having a daughter, the gifts were opened by the hostesses and rewraDDed for Mrs. Bailey. Several shower games were played with prize winners being Cis Webb, Betty Benson, Virginia Kelso, and Margaret McConnell. An approp riately decorated cake centered the serving table and was served to the guests at a late hour along with sherbet by the host esses, Zella Prindle, Mary Woods, Bertha Allen. Hildred Hines, and Wilma Mabee. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bailev of Gold Beach became the parents of a baby girl Saturday, May 16 at the Condon Clinic. The little girl weighed 9 lbs., 1 oz. and has been named Chervl Lynn. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Muzzy of Kinzua and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bailey of Bry son City, N. C. Great grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Muzzy of Baker. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hudson and family of Portland spent the week-end here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Schroe der and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Guinn returned home Sunday from Colorado Springs, Colo., where they had been attending a convention. They had left last Wednesday morning from Port land by jet. Mrs. William Bell and son Brian of The Dalles had spent the week at the Guinns looking after the girls. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe L. McMinn of Kinzua, Mrs. Richard Copeland and Sterl ing Wham of Portland. Melvin Wham of Kinzua is the proud great-grandfather. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Wham of Portland spent the week-end here getting acquainted with their new granddaughter. Mrs. Rudy Rhodes and daugh ter Tammy of Clarksville, Tenn., arrived Wednesday to spend sev eral da,ys visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rhodes. They were brought to Kinzua by Mrs. Irene Barnes and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Post of Portland. Miss Sharon Kelso entertained a group of friends Wednesday evening for dinner, the occasion being her eighteenth birthday Before dinner the group had a treasure hunt and afterwards a scavenger hunt. Those helping Sharon celebrate were Jo Lesser, Susan Wright, Becky Schroeder, David Ostrander, Don Seitz, Lucky Johnson, and Jack Chase W. C. Freeman, Mark Jeilick, and uan Barcena Zarraga went to Portland Thursday for Juan (John) to take his citizenship examinations. He passed with flying colors and will be sworn in July 16. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Allen and family went to Portland Sat urday morning to spend the week-end. They were accompan ied by Mrs. Rudy Khodes and Tammy who will visit her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John King, while Rudy is on maneuvers on the Mojave Desert in California. Mrs. James Walker, Mrs. Les ter Halverson of Omak, Wn., and Mr. and Mis. L. L. Perry of Fos sil left Sunday for Los Angeles, Calif., where they will spend several days. The golf club had a work day Sunday with the ladies club serving a plate lunch. Mrs. Joe Browning and Mrs. David Whitsett were business visitors to Condon Thursday. The Kinzua Women's club had its regular meeting Thursday afternoon at the Kitchen with Loiscelle Dahill and Bonnie Campbell as hostesses. After a short business meeting, the la dies played games for traveling prizes. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Benson and family of Kennewick, Wn., vis ited over the week end with his brother Stanley and family. Mrs. Doyal Hubbell took Mrs. Mark Kandle to The Dalles Fri day for medical attention for her feet. While they were gone, Mr. Hubbell received word of the death of his father so Steve Con lee took Mr. Hubbell and his daughters to The Dalles to meet Mrs. Hubbell and go on to Park dale. Mrs. Boyd Swanson and Mrs. Gailen Swanson and daughter Becky of Milton-Freewater came Wednesday to get Miss Darlene Swanson who had spent the past weeks visiting Mr. and Mrs. Doyal Hubbell and family. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lorengel and family and Mrs. Troy Carey went to Netarts Saturday to spend the week-end visiting William Lorengel. The regular Camp 5 Women's card party was held last Monday at the Community hall with May James as hostess. High was won by Marie Rhoton, low by Signe Anderson, and floating Drizes by Lola Ferrel and Joan Michel. Grand high for the series was won by Marie Rhoton and grand low by Jean Medlock. Others en joying this evening were Ann Bastian, Barbara Morti more, Marie Hulett, Eva DeMerrltt, Shirley Kyle, Joan Michel and Carol Norris. The second First Aid Class was held Tuesday evening with 23 present. Taken up this evening were wounds and their care and transporting of injured persons. The third class was held Thurs day with 25 present. This even ing they dealt with fractures and their care, heat exhaustian, heart attacks, and frostbite. Earl Norris. Richart Mortlmore. and Rusty Medlock went to Part land Saturday on business. While there they visited Eina Magnuson . and attended the horse races. WANTED Rags.
