They were given their scarves and pins by Elder A. J. Reisig of Spokane, Wn. Reisig is director of youth activities for the 10,000 Seventh-day Adventists of the Upper Columbia conference. This includes portions of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. May 2. 1963 s t Final Rites Held For Mrs. Leathers By MARTHA MATTESON MONUMENT Funeral serv ices were held in Monument Fri day afternoon, April 26, for Dillie Cramer Leathers who passed away Wednesday, April 24, in Pendleton, at the age of HO years. She was born in Kansas on March !), 1877, came to Hard- man as a small child with her younger sister and their father. She was married o Hollie Leath ers in 18. They made th ir home in the Hardman area un til moving to Kimborly in 1922 where she spent the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie, who passed away March 9, l!).'i(i. Survivors include five sons. Carl of Portland, Loyd and Arch'e of Long Creek, Roy of Day ville, Wayne of Kimborly; three daughters, Audra Allen of Ifrrmiston, Mable Roach of Kimborly, Grace Duncan of Portland, one daughter. Isa bel 1, died in infancy. She also haves 18 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Niece Weds in Portland Mrs. Vera Gardnir and Mrs. Murd Stubblefield spent the week-end in Portland whore tliry attended the wedding of Mrs. Gardner's niece, Miss Car ole M. Stubblefield to Barry Rowen Pixler, on April 12. The wedding was held at St. John's Christian church in Portland with a reception following at the YVVCA. After a short trip to Hie coast the couple returned to Port la nd where both are em ployed. The bride is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Buss Stubble field of Portland. R. C. Owings spent Sunday afternoon at the Frank Howeil homo. The American Legion hold ils regular mooting Thursday even ing in their hall. Mrs. Harry Scott and son, Robin Den, and her mother, Mrs. Elmer Matteson, spent four days in Portland at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Somers while R )bin was in a hospital there. Mrs. Owen Smith took Janice Hutchison to John Day Tuesday evening for medical aid. Mrs. June Hutchison return ed home after spending a few days in the Blue Mountain hos pital in John Day. George Mill brought in the cement from Portland Monday for the tennis court at the city park. The American Legion Auxil iary hold their business meet ing Monday afternoon at their Legion hall. ASSOCIATION PENDLETON Seniors Take Trip to By MART LEE MARLOW BuaRDMAN The senior class of Riverside High school left last Friday on their annual sneak trip. They planned to spend the week-end at Seaside. Accom panying them were Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams of Irrigon, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Leroux. Members of the class are Dor othy Rash, Janice Parker, Pat Partlow, Eileen Ely, Gloria Friend, Linda Daniels, Willane Fegert, Sharon Franke, Barbara Davis, Bill Cooley, Lynn Hobbs, Lee Towers, Terry Witherspoon, Johnnie Partlow, Jim Hoffman, Kent Boothman, Rod Miland and Morrie Thompson. Winners from Boardman at the spelling contest in Irrigon last week included Pam Kuhn, fifth grade, and Bobbie Skoubo, sixth grade, blue ribbons; Lu- hospital following a car wreck. Allyn Hobbs, Riverside High school junior, was in Salem Monday acting as page for Jack Smith, state representative. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thorpe are the parents of a nine pound, eight ounce son, William Curtis, born in St. Helens April 23. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Obermeier of Boardman. Great grandparents are Mrs. Al bertine Lickess of Boardman, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith of Union. Mr. and Mrs. George Boice are the parents of a nine pound, nine ounce daughter, Karleen Kay, born April 22 at a Kenne wick, Wn. hospital. They included Dorothy Rash, Eileen Ely, Pat Partlow, Gloria Friend, Linda Daniels, Rod Miland, Kent Boothman, Sharon Franke and Janice Parker. Visiting Blue Mountain Com munity College in Pendleton were Terry Witherspoon. Lynn Hobbs, Barbara Davis, Willane Fegert, and Bill Cooley. Johnnie Partlow and Jim Hoff man went to Pasco, Wn. to visit Columbia Basin College. Mrs. Ron Daniels was hostess for the Boardman Tillicum club last week at her home. A re port was made on the cancer films and drive by Mrs. H. M. Walker, and on the Easter egg hunt by Mrs. Ronald Black. Plans were made to attend the state convention in Eugene May 8-9. The club scrapbook will be taken as an exhibit. Reports were made on the dis trict convention at Arlington by Mrs. Joe Tatone, Mrs. Ronald Black, Mrs. Ralph Skoubo and Mrs. Dewey West. Mrs. Skoubo announced the chest X-ray unit was to be in Irrigon April 26. Election Due May 6 The election for school direc tor and for the advisory board from this area will be held May 6 at the school house. Mem bers of advisory board whose terms run out are Roy Partlow and Ralph Skoubo. At present no one has filed to run in their place. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe and daughters Teresa and San dra, and Annie Obermeier went to St. Helens Sunday to visit at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thorpe. Connie Thorpe re turned home with them to visit. Members of the Boardman Garden club who attended the Blue Mountain District Conven tion at Pilot Rock last week in 1 cluded Mrs. Earl Briggs, Mrs. Elmer Messenger, Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, Mrs. Zearl Gillespie, Mrs. Florence Root, Mrs. Glen Carpenter and Mrs. Florence Root, Mrs. Glen Carpenter and Mrs. Florence Root. Robert Obermeier, who is em ployed at St. Helens, spent the week-end here at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Obermeier. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely and daughter Eileen visited recently in Kennewick, Wn., at the home of their son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Vaught. Also visiting there were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ely and child ren of Spokane, Wn. Greenfield Grange members who attended the Pomona Grange session at Irrigon last Saturday included Mr. and Mrs. Clyde fannehill, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, Mrs. Earl Briggs and Mrs. W. G. Seehafer. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hamilton spent three days in Tacoma, Wn. visiting at the home of Hamil ton's cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Smith. While there they attended the wedding of the Smith's son, Lewis, and Jeannie Kueger in Seattle.
