Signed, Sam Byrne 45-47p Wilson Elected Irrigon Mayor; Board Appointed By LAVELLE PARTLOW IRRIGON Chester Wilson was elected mayor of Irrigon at the January council meeting. Council mcmoers present were: Mrs. Louis Shade, Mrs. Albert Part low, Mrs. Ernest Jorgenson, who was sworn in at the January meeting, Donald Adams and Chester Wilson. Mrs. Leon Bent ley, secretary of the Planning Commission, and Perry Pummel, cuy marsnau, also attended the meeting. The Planning Commission had previously requested Mayor Adams to appoint an Irrigon Park Board, and the board mem bers appointed by Adams and approved by the council are as follows: Jim Keith, chairman; Mrs. Vestie Elgin, secretary; Mrs. Paul Slaughter, Orvllle Buchan an, Lloyd Cooley, Lee Gustafson and Lee LeBlanc. The group will investigate expanding the park facilities which will be provided at the present boat ramp. ihe council passed Ordinance No. 3, an ordinance prohibiting the accumulation of rubbish and filth and requiring owners to keep their lots clean, and Ordin ance No. 8, an Ordinance for Traffic Control was also adopted. Ordinance No. 4, an Ordinance prohibiting dangerous building structures or dangerous excava tions such as abandoned wells. was read by the council. Missionaries to Speak Rev. and Mrs. Arthur B. PTA Plans Special Program A special treat, Folk singing by the "Folk Williams Four' from Milton-Freewa t e r High school, Is in store for those at tending the P. T. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Earley of Portland visited at the Howard Gollyhorn home Saturday even ing. Miss Susan Paxson who has been visiting relatives here the past two weeks, left Saturday morning for Spokane. Mrs. Myrna Miller of Oakland, Calif., is here visiting her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jorgensen and family. The Boardman Community church and the Irrigon Baptist church joined in a Singsplration following their Sunday evening services. The Ladles' Home Extension group met at the schoolhouse Thursday afternoon, with Mrs. Perry Pummel, Mrs. Rees Morgan and Mrs. Bill Littrell serving the luncheon. A demonstration on altering ready-to-wear dresses was given by Mrs. M. E. Had wick, Mrs. Fred Murtlshaw and Mrs. Andrew Sklles. The mem bers took new and used Items to be packaged and sent to the State Hospital at Pendleton. Seventeen ladies and two child ren attended the meeting. Brownlee Injured at Work David Brownlee was injured while working at his service sta tion Monday, when an "A frame" fell over, striking him on the head, and knocking him un conscious. X-rays revealed a mild concussion, but no fracture, so Brownlee was released after having 7 stitches taken to close the wound in his head. Mrs. William Graybeal has re turned to her home after spend ing a week in Salem with her mother, Mrs. Inez Heritage, who recently fell and broke her hip. Mrs. Heritage underwent surgery to have a pin Inserted into her hip, and is recovering satisfac torily. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Partlow and Sheryl drove to Portland Fri day afternoon to shop and to spend the week-end there with relatives.
