Lexington Families Host Guests During Holidays By DELPHA JONES LEXINGTON Mr. and Mrs. Newt O'Harra have returned to their home after spending the holidays in Portland with their daughter, Mrs. Patty Darnielle and Karen, and with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack u Harra. Mr, and Mrs. Hendrickson, parents of Mrs. Joe Yocom, were overnight guests Thursday night of last week enroute to Montana where they were called by the ueatn ot Mr. Hendnckso n s brother. Mr. and Mrs. George E. Irvin and children of Idleyld Park, nave returned to their home af ter a week at the home of her mother, Mrs. Florence McMillan Miss Beverly Davidson who is attending school in Portia n d visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson, over the holi days. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Leyva and daughter Melinda have spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steagall. Mr. and Mrs. Leyva make their home in Medtord. SP2 Keith Peck who Is station ed in Fort Lewis, Wash., was a visitor at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Peck on Christmas. Glenn Eatch and Charlene Jones motored to Lexington on Saturday from Portland. Char lene remained for a weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones, while Mr. Eatch re turned to Portland the same day. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones were dinner guests at the Armin Wih lon home Saturday of last week, the occasion being Mrs. Jones birthday. Rebekahs Add New Member Holly Rebekah Lodge held its Christmas party at the last regu lar meeting. Gifts from secret sis ters were exchanged following a program of Christmas carols and a special number, "Star of the East" by one of the members, Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt. Lovely refreshments was served later by the hospitality committee. Mrs. Vic Groshens, Jr, was voted in as a new member and plans for in itiation and a joint installation with the Oddfellows was dis cussed. Overnight visitors Christmas Eve at the C. C. Jones home were her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cool and children Of Pendleton, and Earl Miller of Hinkle. Dinner guests on Christ mas day were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cool and family, Charlene Jones of Portland, Earl Miller of Hin kle, Mr. and Mrs. George Irvin of Idleyld Park, and Mrs. Merle Cornelison and Mrs. Florence McMillan of Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Messenger, Sr., of Mitchell were guests over the holidays with their children and family. Larry Henderson who makes his home in Hood River was a visitor over the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Henderson. Mr. and Ms. Bob Harrison and son were guests on Christmas at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Keithly of Condon. Mrs. Keithly who had been a patient at Pioneer Memorial fol lowing a car accident was able to return to her home for Christ mas. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Olsen and children of Pasco, Wn., was a visitor last Saturday night at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Cutsforth. Mr. and Mrs. Max Breeding of Portland visited overnight Christmas Eve with his mother, Mrs. Lola Breeding. All werei dinner guests on Christmas day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wilson, Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hender son and children were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Henderson on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Marshall and children of Heppner and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majeske were dinner guests on Christmas with Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Majeske's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall. Mrs. Wm. C. Van Winkle was a patient in Pioneer Memorial hospital several days last week, returning to her home on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Ledbet ter and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Winkle of Heppner were dinner guests at the Wm. C. Van Winkle, home on Christ mas. Miss Linda Van Win k 1 e , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Van Winkle, returned to her studies at the University of Ore gon on Sunday, stopping in Port land enroute where she was to meet Deanna Hays for New Years. The Lexington Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Eldon Pad berg on Thursday eveni n g . Those winning prizes were Mild red Davidson, low; Lois Hunt, second high and Elsie Cole, high. Others present were Lorine Ledbetter, Hester Creswick, Vel ma Glass, Lucia Cutsfoith, and the hostess. Mrs. Opal Key of Heppner was a visitor at the home of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt over Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Munkers entertained with a Christmas buffet dinner one night last week honoring the men's bowling team. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Ledbetter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Orwick, Mr. and Mrs. Art Watkins, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Engleman and the host and hostess. Glenda Kay Van Winkle underwent a tonsileetomy at Pioneer Memorial hospital last week. She is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Wm. J. Van Winkle. Nolan, Donna and Glen Miles, Pendleton, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris. Tom Mahon Visits After Return to U. S. HARDMAN Tommie Mahon of Elgin visited in Hardman two days with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam McDaniei, jr. tie just returned from overseas on his ship, U. S. S. Montrose, and will report back to San Diego Calif., January 10. Tommie is also a grandson ot Mrs. Joe Mahon Sr. and great grandson of Mrs. Maud Robison of Heppner. Christmas Day guests ot Mrs. Maud Robison were her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Sam McDaniei of Hardman. Mrs. Maxine Mahon and child ren Linda Kennedy of Elgin spent Thursday and Friday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam McDaniei. They also visited in Heppner with relatives. Sharon and Jimmy Hams went to Ashland to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darold Hams. Word was received that Mar vin Brannon, a former resident of Hardman, is in the hospital at John Day, recuperating from an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Huston Lesley left Saturday for Portland to visit with their daughters and tamuies over the holidays. Carroll Davis of Lone Rock spent Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McDaniei. Ivan McDaniei was a Hard man visitor Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cox and family of Homedale, Idaho, ar rived Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cox for a Christ mas visit with relatives and fri ends. Mr. and Mrs. Vester Hams and family, Wayne Hams and Diana Pettyjohn spent Christmas Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hams. Guy Chapin went to Hermiston to visit his sister, Mrs. Blanche Jones and family for a couple of days. Elaine Gaarsland and Shirley Hicks were hostesses at a fare well party given in honor of Bobby Lee DeSpain, December 23. The lone Community church observed Student Recognition Sunday on December 30. The students partici p a t i n g were among those home from college for the holidays. These included Melvin Martin, Jean Martin, Linda Halvorsen, and Evelyn Jepsen, who delivered the ser mon. A coffee hour followed at the MacKenzie home with the deaconnesses in charge. The lone Community church is collecting good used clothing during the month of January. It should be cleaned and brought to the church. The clothing will be sent to Church World Service. Residents are reminded to put out Christmas trees on the Riet mann lot across from the city park before January 6 for the Twelfth Night ceremony on Sun day afternoon at 4:30. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lundell had a New Year's Day dinner at their home on Tuesday, Jan uary 1. They served a turkey dinner to the Fred Martin fam ily, Rod MacKenzie family, Gene Harryman family, Mrs. Anna Lindstrom, and Mrs. Mary Swan son. After dinner, the group watched the Rose Bowl game. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Christoph erson and family spent four days in The Dalles visiting friends and relatives. The four older members of the family attended a New Year's Eve dance. The family returned home on New Year's day.
