Only one of the past queens is not living. Marjorie Clark, now Mrs. Gordon Ridings, New York, was the first queen in 1922. She was followed by Eva Padberg, 1923 queen, (Mrs. Jay Griffith , who lives here and is employed at Elma's Apparel. Her husband died a few years ago. They have seven children, six married and one daughter living at her home and in the sixth grade. Alice Rietmann (Mrs. Victor Feterson), was queen in 1924 and now lives with her husband and two children in The Dalles. The 1925 queen, Mae Kilkenny, (Mrs. Robert Illivandl, died in 1948 and lived in Alameda, Calif. She had two boys, now both college graduates. Eva Wilcox, (Mrs. Edwin Bros ten), was the 1926 queen and now lives in Boville, Idaho, with her husband and one daughter. Katherine Bisbee, 1927 queen, lives in Waldport where she teaches. Inez Hayes (Mrs. Larry Gentry), queen in 1928, lives with her family on Rhea Creek, She has one son in the service and one young son at home. Reita Neal, (Mrs. Luke Bibby), lives on a ranch with her hus band on Balm Fork, and was queen in 1929. The 1930 queen was Aileta Farrons, who is married and lives in California. Margaret Beckett, (Mrs. Claude Buschke), was queen in 1931 and is now in business with her husband in the Gilliam and Bisbee hard ware in Heppner. They have two sons married and living here. Mae Gentry was queen in 1932 and is married and living in California. She was followed in 1933 by Dorothy Dohertv who now resides in Pendleton and is a registered nurse. Dimple Crabtree, Mrs. Archie Munkers, was the 1934 queen and now lives with her husband on a ranch located between Heppner and Lexington, llene Kenny, (Mrs. W.lliam Richards), resides with her family in Arcada, ( alii, sne was queen in i-acj. They have four children. Gene vieve Hanna, (Mrs. Bert Corbin), followed in 1936 and now lives here with her family. They have three children. Betty Bergevin was queen in 1937 and resides with her family in California. Maxine McCurdy, (Mrs. Len Gilman), was the 1938 queen and now lives in Long Beach, Calif. They have two boys. Cecelia Healy, (Mrs. Bill Bucknum), queen in 1939, lives in Heppner. Marjorie Parker, (Mrs. Harry Nelson), lives ,in Portland with her family and they have four children. She was queen in 1940. Kathryn Thompson, (Mrs. Paul Webb), was queen in 1941 and now lives here. They have three children. During the next three years the rodeo was not held because of the war but it was resumed in 1945 when Colleen Kilkenny was named queen. She is Mrs. Don Greenup and lives on a ranch on the Heppner-Pilot Rock road. They have live child ren. Darlen Biddle, (Mrs. Robert Hnoirinci fnllnwpfl in 1916 as queen. She lives with her family of two girls, ine 1911 queen, Murivn Kirk. (Mrs. Don Robin son),' lives on a ranch in the Sandhollow area, iney nave three children. Betty Smethurst. (Mrs Herman Zeieler). was queen in 1948. They have three children and live in noon Kiver. Shirley Wilkinson, (Mrs. George Rugg), followed in 19-iii. iney live on a ranch near here anil have two girls. Joan Hisler, (Mrs. Tim Sumner), was the 1950 queen and now lives in The Dalles. They have two cniidren. Ingrid Herman, (Mrs. Harlan Crawford), lives near Echo and they have three children. She was queen of the rodeo in 1951. Katy Campbell, (Mrs. Robert Van Schoiack), 1952 queen lives wilh her family on the Van Schoiack ranch near Heppner. They have five children. Elise Bauernfeind was queen in 1953 and is now married and is be lieved to be living near Rose burg. Grace Miller, from Board man, is married and lives in La Grande. She has two child ren and was queen in 1954. Carol Ann Wiglesworth, (Mrs. Larry Meredith), lives in Sacramento, Calif., and is teaching physical education. She was rodeo queen in 1955. Patricia Wright, (Mrs. Don An derson), lives near Arlington and they have one daughter. She headed the court in 1956. Christ ine Swaggart, (Mrs. Jerry Buschke), was queen in 1957 and lives in Heppner. She is daughter-in-law of Queen Marg aret (Beckett) Buschke. They have one son, Pat Sleagall, (Mrs. Jerry Dougherty), queen in 1958, lives on a ranch in the Sand hollow area and they have one "Irl. . Sharon Cutsforth, (Mrs. Jim Gorman), was the 1959 queen and now lives in Montana. Susan Partlow was queen in 1960. She is married but brief re search failed to reveal where she is living now. Last year's queen was Joan Moe, now Mrs. J. D. Hudson who lives in Hepp ner. This year the court is led hv Marlene Fetsch, Heppner Ilitrli school senior, who lives with her family, Mr. and Mrs. Al Fetsch, on a ranch near Lexington. Y QUEEN SHARON CUTSFORTH (GORMAN), 1959 QUEEN SUSAN PARTLOW, 1960 A- QUEEN CAROL ANN WIGGLESWORTH (MEREDITH), 1955 Northwest Title In Bronc Riding In 8th Year Here One of the highlights of the Morrow county rodeo is the Northwest Amateur Saddle Bronc riding championship cont est, which will be in its eighth year here at the 1962 event. Held at Pendleton for some 30 years as a feature of the Round up, the championship was the first held at Heppner in 1955 and has been on the annual program since that time. History of the event dates back to 1925 at Pen dleton and winners throughout the years compose a list of names very well known in the rodeo circuit. Cherished trophy of the event is a fine handmade saddle from Hamley and Company of Pendle ton. Saddle for this year's win ner is now on display at Gillian and Bisbee Hardware. Norman Goree was the 1955 winner, followed by Bud Godby in 1956. Gib Gregg won the title in 1957, and Manny Squakin took the honors in 1958. In 1959, Mac Griffith, son of Eva Padberg Griffith, Morrow county rodeo queen of 1923, won the bronc riding championship, and his brother, Don Griffith, followed in 1960. Champion in last year's rodeo was Sterling Green who outpoint ed Buzz Seely, second place finisher.
