HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, June 28, 19G2 Lexington News By DELPHA JONES Mr. and Mrs. Buzz DeMoss of Springfield were visitors last week at the Kenneth Marshall home. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall enjoyed a recent fishing trip to Brownlee Dam. Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Cutsforth and children returned home Sat urday from The Dalles where thev had been called by the death of Mrs. Cutsforth's brother, Don Whetmore. Mrs. Whetmore and children returned home with them for a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Armin Wihlon were visitors in Cascade Locks Wednesday evening and attend ed the Don Whetmore services in The Dalles Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Majeske were business visitors in Port land this week. Holly Rebekah lodge held its regular meeting Thursday even ing at the IOOF hall. Mrs. Ardith Hunt was appointed Good of the Order chairman. Following the meeting refresh ments were served in the dining room. This is the last meeting until September when the fall session will start. Mr. and Mrs. George LeRoy and children of Fresno, Calif., have been recent visitors with Mrs. Calvin and her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Klinger. Frank Messenger of Medford was a recent caller in Lexing ton where he visited relatives and was vocalist at the instal lation of Mrs. Dean Hunt at the Eastern Star meeting in liepp ner. Mrs. Jack Mounts of Bear Springs has been visiting this last week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Ma jeske. Mrs. Cora Allyn has returned home after a stay in Pioneer Memorial hospital, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones en tertained with a dinner at their home on Saturday night honor ing Franklin Messenger. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Armin Wih lon, Audrey Mounts, Mr. and Mrs. Jones, and John bpence. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Led better enjoyed a camping trip last week. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Messenger Sr., of Mitchell are visiting their children in Lexington this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Zita of Con don are the parents of a son born in Pioneer Memorial hos pital on Sunday. He is the grand son of O. W. Cutsforth of Lex ington and Alta Cutsforth of Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hunt and small son are spending the summer in Lexington where he will be employed. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Grey and daughter of Arizona were visitors this week at the George Her mann home. Mrs, Mervin Leonard was a re cent Portland visitor. Mr. and Mrs. David Pinklon and children of Riverside, Calif., have been visiting at the Carl Marquardt home. Those from Lexington attend ing the Barlow reunion in Board man Sunday were Mr. and Mis. Carl Marquardt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt and family, Franklin and Carroll Messenger, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Messenger Sr., of Mitchell, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Messenger of Lexington. Entertain Relatives Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Terry Blevins earlier this month were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blevins of Superior, Mont., his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Aylesworth of Seattle, his brother Phillip Blevins and friend in naval training in Cal ifornia, Lee Wayne Schutter. Take Trip East Mrs. Kathryn Yarnell of lone and her granddaughter, Kay Yarnell, left Tuesday from Port land for Bridgeport, Conn., where they will spend the summer vis iting relatives. LEXINGTON LOG Jack Rowland of Enterprise was a caller at the Lexington air port on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Leyva of Medford stopped at the airport on Tuesday. Fred Pinson, who was enroute to Roseburg from Alaska, flew In on Thursday. Les Bemus of Yakima, Wn., a business visitor in Heppner, was here on Friday. Paul Hanson arrived from As toria with two employees to fly equipment back. A slight acci dent occurred at the airport, but no injury to anyone Is reported. Jim Martin and Mel Koyer flew to The Dalles one day last week via Condon. Lynwood Reed ami son, Gary of Mosier who had the plane accident near Chiloquin last week were frequent visitors at the Lexington airport, being a friend of Mr. Buyers. Mr. Reed was killed in the accident. Hoppers Announce Daughter's Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hopper an nounce the marriage of their daughter, LeNona, to Raymond Schoonover of Lexington. The marriage was solemnized at Lewiston, Idaho, June 15 by the Rev. Goddard, pastor of First Baptist church. The couple is making their home near Lexington. The bride is a graduate of Heppner High school, and the groom of the lone High school. A house guest at the home oi Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weathertord is her cousin, Mrs. Nolle Shake of Missoula, Montana, who ar rived on Tuesday for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Armin Wihlon, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Boyer and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weathertord were among those attending the fun eral Thursday of Donald Wet more, brother of Mrs. O. W. Cuts forth, in The Dalles. Visiting at the Ray Drake home last week were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Given, Silverton. Mrs. Drake and Mrs. Given are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Connor and family, Forest Grove, visited Sun day with relatives in Heppner. They returned Sunday evening taking their daughter, Carrie, who had been at the Carey Hastings and Frank Connor homes here for three weeks. , Mrs. Kenneth Cutsforth and children and Mrs. D e 1 m e r Buschke and children spent Sat urday in Portland takine the children to the zoo. Sunday visitors in town were Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Shipps, Conneil, Wn. They came for their children, Linda and Rick, who have been with Mrs. Shipps par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Buschke, for the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston and family left by car over the week-end for a two weeks trip to Tennessee to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Isom, Pendle ton, were Monday house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Graham. They all attended the OES in stallation ceremonies Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Jones and family left Tuesday for a few days vacation in Seattle at the World's Fair. Dick Smith, Wasco, relief depot agent, visited John and Jim Van Winkle Saturday and Sunday at the Jack Van Winkle home. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gontv met their daughter, Mrs. Terry Blevins, and Mrs. Joe Daniels. in Yakima Sunday and brought them to Heppner. Mrs. Blevins and Mrs. Daniels were visitors last week to the World's Fair. Mrs. J. W. Frank and children. Havertown, Pa., arrived here Monday for a summer vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tamblyn. HOSPITAL Patients admitted to Pioneer Memorial hospital this week are: Mary Ellen Rogers, Lone Rock; Paula Heindrichs, lone; Max Mc Cormack, Heppner; Bethal Hein drichs, lone; Lilly Reeder, Pilot Rock; Evelyn Smith, Kinzua and George Ransom, Milton-Free-water. Those dismissed during this same period were: Mary Holtz, lone; Linda Warren, Heppner; Gerald Swaggart, Heppner; Clara Schunk, Heppner; John Reeder, Pilot Rock; and Kerry May, Con don. Oscar Breeding, Lexington, (deceased). Babies born this week were all three boys. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zita, Condon, are the parents of an 8 lb 11 oz son, born June 23 and named Chris. topher Orville. Mr. and Mrs. James Richard son are the parents of a son, Robert Howard, born June 25 and Bill Sherman on TV Bill Sherman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Sherman, appeared on the nationally-televised Dick Clark show, American Band stand, originating in Philadel phia, Pa., Monday. Bill, Heppner High school junior, is on Stu dent Tour USA with some 40 other high school students and a number of those in the grouD were among the dancers on the program. The tourists are now in New York city after visiting in Washington, D. C, and then will continue on to Canada before dropping down to Niagara Falls and Detroit to head west. The group is due home bv Julv 16. They have been gone since May weighed 10 lb 8 oz. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Viall. Lexington, are the parents of a son, born June 27.
