This play is held twice a month and entitles winners to fractional master points. High north-south were Lowell Gribble and La Verne Van Marter: second high were Isabel Davis, Condon, and uobbe Driscoli; third place was tied by three couples, Gordon and Phyllis Hutchins, Terry and R.aren xnompson, and Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Fortner, Boardman, High east-west was also a tie between Harriet Hall and Dorene Jacobs, and Daisy Collins and iUaine George. Tied for th rd place were Jim Driscoli and Rita Wolff, and Ed Dick and Shirley tfiake. It is a story of a New York business man who retired with his wife to live in the country and later returned to New York and re entered the business world. They keep a run ning score and after 12 even ings of play winners will be named. ooo NONA SOWELL and Marie Mc Ouarrie were hostesses Mon day morning for a coffee in troducing Mrs. Maurice (Nan) Brown to the Heppner commun ity. They served hot sweet rolls and coffee to more than 70 ladies during the morning. The rooms were decorated with spring flowers. The Browns moved recently into the Everett Harshman home from Kinzua. Coffee and cake were served during the afternoon, ooo KATHRYN WEBB was hostess Wednesday evening for the Reneeers bridge club. Guests were Shirley Blake, Beverly Gunderson, Cork Norene, Karen Thnmnson. Laurel Van Marter, Inez. Meador, and Louise Farley. Karen was high; Laurel, second Cork, low: and Beverly was Jack high. ooo THE RECIPE comes to me this week from Oma Cox and is a tasty peach pie. Southern Belle Peach Pie 2 cans canned cling peach halves y4 cup butter or margarine 13 cup sugar 1 T flour 23 cup dark corn syrup y4 t salt 2 eggs 1 t vanilla cup chopped walnuts sinpie nie crust nastrv Drain Deaches. cream butter with sugar and flour, blend in corn svruo. salt, lightly beaten eggs and vanilla. Arrange ntaphps in Dastrv-lined pie pan pour egg-mixture over peaches and sprinkle nuts on top. bukc at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 375 and bake 30 minutes longer, until center is set. Decorate with whipped cream, peach slices, and walnut halves if desired. Serves 6 or 8. Auxiliary Friends Luncheon Guests Mrs. C. M. Wagner was a luncheon hostess last Tuesday for 25 Loma Linda University medical-dental auxiliary friends from local and distant points. The local guests were Mrs Harold Huber and Mrs. David Bauer, with out-of-town guests from Hermiston, Prin e v 1 1 1 e Troutdale, Vancouver and Port land. On display during the after noon were shell and rock col lections belonging to the Hubers and the Wagners. Mrs. Carr is the former Martha Buschke Brown. The couple was married April 20 in Westport, Wn and will live in Roseburg. Carr owns a cleaning establishment and coin operated cleaning business there. Mrs. Carr is employed with the U. S. National Bank in Rose burg. Mr. and Mrs. Piper Karl, Pen dleton, also attended the reception.
