She plans to continue her schooling alter her marriage. The bridegroom to be will re ceive his B. S. degree in Forestry from ObU in March. He Is a member of the ItOTC Scabbard and Blade Honorary. Upon grad uation he will report for active duty as a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army at rort ooruon, Ga. An early spring wedding is planned. Guests were Leon and Jean Ball and Jerry and Earlene Bailey. o o o TURKEY WAS the main course lor the Sunday night Dupli cate Bridge club's potluck supper at the Bill Blake home last Sun day. Joining the Christmas bridge party were Jim ana Bobby DriscolL Bob and Pat Brindle, Bill andi Daisy Collins, Conley and Vi Lanham, La Verne and Laurel Van Marter. The win ners were LaVerne and Vi with high and Bobby and Laurel, second. o o o A NEW pinochle club organized last Thursday at the home oi Janina Johnson. They plan to meet each Thursday except Elks Ladies night and give prizes with a dinner planned! in the spring. Members making up tne two tables were Alvina Padberg, LeeAnn Rea, Prudy Casebeer, Alta Cutsforth, Millie Yarnell, Jeanne Dobbs, and Loree Hub bard. Alvina won high and Jeanne was second. An exciting moment or the evening was the ,000 aces meld by Janina with her partner, Loree! That causes a little flutter, lor sure! O O 0 THIS IS the season for lots of baking, goodies for the family and entertaining. I have gather ed a few candy and cookie recipes for you to try. Most of them I have sampled with only one complaint, one bite calls lor another, etc., etc: o o o THE FIRST is a Fudge recipe from Mrs. Ned Sweek and the second is a chocolate covered coc onut mounds and comes from Mrs. Riley Munkers. Lillian and Bebe each year get together to make many different kinds of candy for Christmas. FUDGE Mix together: 2 cups sugar 34 cups milk Vi cud cocoa Cook slowly to a soft ball (236 degrees) Remove from stove, addi 3 tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Let cool without stirring, beat until it loses its gloss, add one-half cup nuts and pour into greased pan. Chocolate Covered Coconut Mounds Mix together: 2 boxes powdered sugar (sifted) Vi lb. butter or margarine (soften ed) 1 can eagle brand sweetened condensed milk t vanilla box angel flake coconut Mixture will be very stiff, roU into small balls and drop onto ion wrap and let stand over night to dry. Chocolate Covering Melt over double boiler: 34 bar ol Parafin V packages chocolate chips taarK or light) After mixture Is thoroughly melted, place mounds on tooth pick and dip. Keep mixture in pan over hot water to keep at correct temperature. o o o HERE'S A cookie recipe Irom Mrs. Merritt Gray. Maxine savs they are easy to make and very tasty.
