Mrs. Glen Carpenter was hon ored on the occasion of her birth day last week when a group of friends surprised her with a small party during the noon hour. She will be confined to her bed for several weeks. Guests were members of the post offices of the 4th district of the national league of postmasters, Oregon branch, and surrounding area. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hilder of San Bernardino. Calif- visited four days over the week-end with her father, Charles Nlcker son. They went from here to Idaho to visit other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thacker of Eugene visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Coats Monday on their way to Spo kane. Wash, on a vacation trip. The accident occurred about 6:15 p. m nd visibility was poor due a eh time of dav and to weeds loniT the road. After the cars collided the Daniels car went on tn rrauh against a tree stump at the side of the road. The car was demolished, and the Ash car was damaged less extensively. Services For Mr. Graham Funeral services were held in Hermlston at 10 a. m. Saturday for Charles William Graham, 63, who died In a Taft nursing home Sept. 6 after an illness of sev eral months. He had lived In Boardman for the past 20 years, having Just moved to ueiaKe In June. Services were In Our Lady of Angels church, with Ros ary at 8:30 p. m.. Friday at the church. Burial was In Baker. Mr. Graham was born March 26. 1898 in Dallas. Texas. He was married Aueust 11. 1926 in Idaho. Sun-Ivors include his wife Ellen of Delake: sons James of Boardman, and Charles, Jr., of Estacada: daughters Mrs. Har old (Evelyn) Shouse of Umatilla Mrs. Robert - (Charlotte) Tnonv hill of Boardman.
