HEPPNER A BffVlfr-rMiltiVHtflm V the 95 Combine Mrs Franklin Ely wa honored as one of the outstanding teach ers in the lone schools Friday, May 27 at the school class night. She was presented with the school annual which was dedi cated to her. She has taught for 17 consec utive years in the lone grade school and Is now the 4th grade teacher. She also taught seven and one-half years in other schools before starting at lone. Mr and Mrs Ely live on a ranch near Morgan. They have one daughter, Mrs Delmer Craw ford, lone; one son Fayne Ely of Portland, three granddaugh ters and three grandsons. She Is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teachers sorority. Among the colleges she has at tended are Oregon College of Fduentlon at Monmouth; South ern Oregon College, Eastern Ore gon College and Tortland Mate. At the meeting conduc ted by Mrs Ray Williams, Milton Freewater district 6 president, Mrs H A Keene of Hermiston was elected district 6 president for the coming year and Mrs Harold Coe of Milton-Freewater was elected vice president. A wards were given to the follow- X units for membership, Athena, 1st; Milton-Freewater, 2nd; Pendleton, 3rd and Hermis ton, 4th. Mrs Hugh Murchinson if Pendleton was secretary of the meeting. Herbert White, Pendle ton, district 6 commander, had charge of the Legion meeting but no officers were elected. There were representatives pres ent from Pendleton, Hermiston, Milton-Freewater and lone. A potluck dinner preceded the meeting.
