The unit voted to (rive $2.50 to the Heart Fund and $2.50 to the cancer fund. Mra Eldon Tucker received the door prize. Word waa received of the death of Oral E Falmateer, 64 of Salom, March 2. He was well known here and was with the Standard Oil company for many years and showed pictures to the schools in the state. He was for many years and showed pictures schools In the state. He was a World Wax I veteran, a past state department comman der of the American Legion, and took an active part In Legion work. He Is survived by his wife, Frances; two sons; one daugh ter, one sister and 9 grandchild ren. Also had several cousins In this community. Funeral ser vices were held In Salem March 5. College students home for the weekend were Kay Sherer and Mardine Baker of Eastern Ore gon College of Education and Julie Rietmann of Whitman Col lege. She was accompanied by Emmy Dingwall of Whitman. They had attend the N E A con vention in Yakima last week. Miss Rietmann has been elected as secretary of the Kappa Kappa r.mmn for the comins year. Paula is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack Barak and has been going to high achool here for the past two years. She Is very active In school affaire. Is vice president of the senior class and the Pep club and Is editor of the Ionlrn, the school annual. She was a delegate to Girl's State last year which Is sponsored by the Amer ican Legion Auxiliary. Others who entered from here were Melvin iwarun, urena Townsend and Bob Akers. Ronald Yanta, second grade pupil celebrated his eighth birth day Feb 29. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Yanta and recently came here from Seattle.- Spring vacation will be March 16, 17 and 18.
