ONE HEADLINES By ECHO PALMATE EB Mr and Mrs Harold Dobyns re turned home Sunday from Port land where they visited her son and familly, Mr and Mrs Jerry Holly. Mrs Dobyns also spent a week in Seattle where she visited her other son and family, Mr and Mrs Russell Holly, also her new granddaughter, Kymbra LaRene Holly. Those from here who attended the Mid-Columbia Association meeting in Condon Wednesday of last week were Mr and Mrs Rod MacKenzie, Mr and Mrs E Markham Baker, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Smouse and Mr and Mrs Fredrick Martin. Mr and Mrs Milton Morgan and daughter, Marilyn, and Lin da Heimbigner attended the ded ication of the new high school in Pendleton Sunday. Fredrick Martin also attended the dedi cation. Dates to Remember: Oct 23 Three links club of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge meeting at the home of Mrs Fannie Griffith at 2 p m. Oct 24 The Topic club social meeting at the home of Mrs Roy Lindstrom at 2 p m. Oct 27 Locust chapter OES meeting. Mrs Don Braden, Pendleton, a member of the special project committee will give a report Oct 30 HEC of Willows grange food sale, pie and coffee sale and bazaar at the Re bekah hall starting around lpm. Oct 31 The American Legion Junior Auxiliary girls will gather old nylon hose start ing around 1:30 p m. After these axe gathered part will be given to the Veteran's home at Camp White in Med ford to be made into rugs by the veterans and part will be given to the lone school to be used to strain paint in the shop. After the drive the juniors will meet at the home of Mrs Vester Haras for a meeting. Election of officers will be held. Oct 31 The P-TA will sponsor UNICEF Halloween. Child ren will go to the school in the evening for their boxes to collect money to be given to needy children. A party will be held afterwards at the school. Nov 4 Rod MacKenzie will be officially ordained as min ister at the Community church by the Mid Columbia Association. Mrs David Baker was honored with a baby shower at the home of Mrs Franklin Lindstrom Fri day afternoon Oct 16. Those coming from a distance were her mother, Mrs Henry Gorger, and her sister, Mrs Dale Bennett, both of Pendleton and Mrs Clarence Baker and Lynda of Heppner. Mrs Bennett assisted with the gifts. The hostesses were Mrs Charles Doherty, Mrs Roy Lind strom, Miss Lolah Wilson, Mrs Vemer Troedson and Mrs Frank lin Lindstrom. Mrs Robert Jepsen entertained the lone bridge club at her home Friday evening, Oct 16. Those receiving prizes were Mrs Walter Jacobs, high, Mrs Ray Boyce, 2nd high and Mrs Pete Cannon, low. Alton Yarnell spent the week end in Seattle where he attend ed the Home Coming activities of his fraternity at the Univer sity of Washington. Mr and Mrs Jack Miller and daughter of Seattle visited friends here over the weekend. Mrs Miller is the former Jean Knighten and was a teacher in the lone high school. Congressman Al Ullman of Ba ker gave an address at Stefani's Fine Food Wednesday evening, Oct 14. There were 33 present A dinner was served at 6 o'clock. Al Lamb Introduced Congress man. Members of the Morrow county Democratic central spon sored the meeting. Mr and Mrs C J MacKenzie of Sebastobol, Calif are visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Rod MacKenzie. Mr and Mrs Dwight Haugen and daughters of Portland visited her mother, Mrs Fannie Griffith and other relatives this week. Mr and Mrs Franklin Ely spent this weekend in Portland where they visited their son and fam ily, Mr and Mrs Fayne Ely. Mr and Mrs Monroe Greer re turned home from Portland this week. Their son Dick, brought them home. Mr Greer was a patient in a hospital there. Mr and Mrs Frank Lundell of Milwaukie visited relatives here over the weekend. Mrs Wallace Matthews attend ed a Rebekah lodge meeting in Hardman Saturday after noon and one in Heppner Saturday evening. Mrs Harlan Devln of Condon spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs Lana Padberg. Mrs Ben Anderson was re-elected president of the Valby Luth eran church Missionary society at the home of Mr and Mrs Louis Carlson Monday, Oct 12. Other officers elected were Mrs Herbert Peterson, vice president; Miss Esther Bergstrom, secretary and Mrs William Rawlins, treas urer. A potluck luncheon was served. Recent visitors at the Carl Bergstrom home were Mr and Mrs Pete Janin and Mr and Mrs Curtis Conelly of Portland. Mr and Mrs Robert Seaton of Portland were visitors here Mon day of last week. Peter Manson of Newberg was a visitor at the Donald Hellker home last week. Mrs Ray Warmuth of Port land is a patient in the Emanuel hospital there where she is re ceiving treatments following a car accident. She is the former Nola Keithley and was a resi dent here. Mrs Cleo Drake attended the district convention of the Rebek ah lodge in Pendleton recently. Recent visitors at the A E Stef ani home were their cousins, Mr and Mrs Pete Cerri and Mich ael and Richard Cavalli of Port land. Mr and Mrs Lawrence Jones and Mrs Gordon White and daughter, Lona, attended the Parents Weekend activities at Willamette University recently and visited their sons, Kenneth Jones and Gerry White who are students there. Gerry is a senior member of Sigma Alpha Epsl Ion fraternity, and was elected editor of the Wallulah annual. Kenneth is a freshman and has pledged Sigma Alpha Epsllon. Fred Ely returned home last week from Los Alomos, New Mexico where he visited his grandson and family, Mr and Mrs Alyn Hoak.
