Dinner-Theater Party Celebrates Birthday Sheridan Wvman celebrated her eleventh birthday Saturday evening of last week with a dinner party at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Les wy- man. Her guests were Barbara Grib ble, Kristine Prussing, Trisha Farley, Gayle Batty, Diane Shaffitz, Jean Healy, Terryl Greenup, Sue Ellen Greenup, Sherri Lynn O'Brien, Judy Ham ilton, and Laura Lee Sumner. Before dinner games were played and after dinner they all attended the theater. Mrs John Pfeiffer New President Of Soroptimist Club Mrs John Pfeiffer was elected president of the Soroptmist Club of Heppner at their Thursday meeting at O'Donnell's. Dthpr officers elected were Mrs C E McQuarrie, vice president; Mrs James Thomson, recording secretary; Mrs James Hager, cor responding secretary; Mrs Eddie Gunderson, treasurer and Mrs Al fred Mattoon, board member for a two year term. Mrs Robert Penland is the hold over board member and Miss Reta Hum phreys regional representative. , Mrs Pfeiffer, chairman of the service objectives committee, re ported that Connie Anderson had been picked by the club to at tend Girls State with Carolyn Carter as alternate The 4-H scholarship, for summer school at Oregon State College, was a warded to Bernlce Thomson. Committee reDorts were given and further plans for the annual tea were discussed. The date set for the installa- tion banquet was Saturday even ing, June 27. Mrs McQuarrie Has High Score At Bridge Mrs Bill Labhart entertained Friday evening at her home with three tables of bridge. Guests were Mrs Fred Gimbel, Mrs Philip Blakney, Mrs Jack Van Winkle. Mrs Max Barclay, Mrs Raymond Ferguson, Mrs C E McQuarrie, Mrs Bill Blake, Mrs Bill Sowell, Mrs Lowell Grlbble, Mrs L E Dick, Mrs Gene Pierce and Mrs Bud Collins. Her guests were Mrs Fred Man kin, Mrs Ben Anderson, Mrs Henrv HaDDold. Mrs Max Busch ke, Mrs Walter Becket, Mrs tan Evans, and Mrs Max Harris. Mrs Anderson was high for the afternoon, low was won by Mrs Becket. and double pinochle was won by Mrs Anderson and Mrs Mankln. Refreshments were served afterwards. Hughes Home Scene Of Family Dinner Mr and Mrs Tom Huehes en tertained with a dinner party on Mothers dav and their guests were Mr and Mrs Joseph Hughes Sr, Mr and Mrs Keith Marshall and children, Mrs Anna Mc Namee. James P McNamee, Jo- seDh Huehes Jr. Bill Hughes, and the four children of Mr and Mrs Tom Hughes. Two hirthdavs were also cele brated at the dinner party. Those being honored were James V mc Namee and Tony Marsnan. Susan Melby Has Seventh Birthday Susan Melby celebrated her seventh birthday with a party Sunday afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Arn old Melby. Renegers Club Meets At Labhart Home Mrs Bill Labhart was hostess to the Renegers bridge club Wed nesday night of last week at her home. May 14, 1959 Ladies Night Party Held At Elks Lodge Ladies night was held at the Elks lodge Thursday evening of last week. The high winner In bridge was Mrs Don Bellenbrock with Mrs Ned Sweek winning second prize. In pinochle Mrs Bob Dobbs won high prize and Mrs Bob Flatt won second high. Door prize was won by Mrs Delmar Buschke. Mrs Pat O'Brien was chairman for the evening and her com mittee was Mrs Marlon Green, Mrs Glenn Smith, Mrs Wayne rrocK, Mrs jimmy frock, Mrs tan inorpe, and Mrs Matt Hughes. Refreshments were ser ved at the end of the evening. Van Marters Have Mothers Day Dinner A Mother's Day dinner was given by Mr and Mrs LaVerne Van Marter Sunday afternoon. Their guests were Mr ana Mrs Archie Ball Sr. and son Archie, Mr and Mrs V R Runnion, Mrs Sadie Sigsbee, and Mrs Elaine George and sons Kit ana uavia. Winners Entertain Losers At Bridge Club Luncheon Those members of the Whats Trumps bridge club holding high scores for the season, entertained the members with the low scores at a luncheon last Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs Earl Blake. The hostesses were Mrs Gene Ferguson, Mrs E K Schaffitz, Mrs Tom Wilson. Mrs L D Tibbies, Mrs Lowell Gribble and Mrs P W Mahoney. The guests were Mrs Raymond rerguson, Mrs Earl Blake. Mrs Harold Cohn, Mrs Ted Smith, Mrs Robert Pen- land, Mis James Thomson and Mrs Allen Case. Mrs Mahoney held high score for the afternoon, Mrs Penland was second, Mrs Wilson third and Mrs Gene Ferguson low. The club will disband for the summer and the next meeting will be the first part of October. Past Matrons-Patrons Honored By OES The Past worthy matrons and past worthy patrons of Ruth Chapter No 32 of the Order of the Eastern Star were honored Friday evening, April 8, at the Masonic hall In Heppner. The honored guests were each Dresented with lovely carnation corsages and white carnation boutonnieres, ana aner a very enjoyable evening of entertain ment refreshments were served at tables decorated with small individual bouquets. The tea table was decorated with an arrangement of spring flowers with Mrs Nellie Ander son and Mrs Madge Bryant pour ing. Chairman and co-chairman for the evening's refreshments and tinns were Mrs LaVerne Van Marter and Mrs Gene Hall with Mrs A D McMurdo, Mrs Marcel Jones, Mrs Paul Webb and Mrs Eb Hughes assisting. Judv Gentry Honored At Birthday Party Judy Gentry celebrated her seventh birthday Thursday after noon, May 7, at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Bill Gen try. Those who helped her cele brate were Sandy Woolman, San dv Matheny, Christie Lee Tay lor, Patricia Howell, Patricia Keithley, Marcia Young, Cindy Glennie, Terry Hughes, Donena Burril, Sandy Mathews, Sandy Kinoshita, Marsha Sowell, Sheila Healy, and her sister and brother, Janet and Jerry Gentry. Games were played and cake and ice cream were enjoyed by Judy and her guests. Mr and Mrs Tim Valentine ot- tended the Quarter Horse Show at Redmond.
