Mrs Blaine Chapel was elected as delegate to Rebekah assem bly at Roseburg in May and Mrs Tom Fraters as alternate. Mrs William Smethurst was chosen for district deputy. It was also announced that the Hardman cemetery board is resuming activity and the first meeting of the season was April 19. It is hoped that work there can be completed this season. After lodge Mrs Walter Wright was presented a silver tea set in remembrance of her 25th an niversary. Refreshments were served. refreshments. A covered wagon filled with Spring flowers was the center piece decorating the buffet, with smaller covered wa gons decorating each table. Preceeding the meeting a pot luck dinner furnished by the lo cal members was given at the home of Mrs J W Farra for the out of town guests. An enjoyable program which was planned by Mrs Lucille Ow ens, Mrs Lester Boulden, and Mrs Lincoln Nash, was presented dur ing the afternoon. Piano solos were played by Shirley Nash, Susan Drake, Vickie Kreimeyer, Jan Hager, and Pamela Cochell. Sandra Harshman and Janice Baker played two piano duets and Laura Lee Sumner played a flute solo accompanied by Carole Bur kenbine. Fern Albert sang a solo accompanied by Jeanne Schmidt, and Mrs Boulden, dress ed In a Centennial costume sang two appropriate numbers. Renn Harris. Bob Huffman, and Sam Green sang two numbers accomnanied bv Mrs J R Hull- man, and Mrs Owens gave two musical readings. Delicious homemade sand wiches and cookies were served by the refreshment committee headed by Mr N D Bailey. Those helDin? her were Mrs Walter Becket, Mrs Tom Wells, Mrs Gene Ferguson, Mrs Ted Smith, Mrs Oliver Creswlck, and Mrs Her man Green. The voune ladies who served at the tables were Shirley Nash, Linda Thomas, and Darlene Turner. Greeting hostesses were Mrs Kenneth Keeling and Mrs Bill Turner. Mrs Osmin Hager and Mrs Charles Vaughn were in charge of decorations. Large baskets of spring flowers were used about the room and smaller bouquets decorated the tables. Refreshments were served and a new game called "Stork" was played with prizes given to all winners. Miss Matheny and Miss Schmidt assisted the hostesses with the serving. Delegates To Go To Rebekah Assembly Sans Souci Rebekah lodge met Friday evening, April 17 with Mrs Gerald Rood, noble grand, Dresiding. 24 members and one visitor were present. Miss Esther Bergstrom was Real for the unwritten work and the Blue Mountain Re bekah lodge at Fossil invited the Heppner lodge to their Initiation on April 28. Hostesses were Mrs Floyd Wor- den and Mrs Roscoe Sloving. The next meeting will be May 1 with Mrs Ray McDowell, Miss Esther Bergstrom ana Mrs jnene Kirk as hostesses. Altar Society Plans Bake And Apron bale The April meeting of the St Patricks Altar Society was held at the home of Mrs Bob Brindle on April 14. There was discussion about the bake and apron sale to be held May 9 at the Red ana wnue grocery. The sale will start at 10:00 a m Saturday. Potluck Dinner Fetes Walter Wrights On 25th Anniversary The Rhea Creek grange hon ored Mr and Mr Walter Wright at a potluck dinner lat Friday evening, in honor of their 25th wedding anniverary. The tables were beautifully decorated with spring flowers. Mrs Al Lovgren and Mrs Elmer Palmer made the wedding cake, which Mrs Harold Wright decor ated. They received many lovely gifts. Over 50 persons attended the dinner. Out of town guests were Mr and Mrs Fred Kruger, Sher wood, Ore, sister and brother-in-law of Mr Wright; Mr and Mrs Don Anderson, Arlington, daugh ter and son-in-law of the Wrights; Mr and Mrs Jim Green, Brian and Janice, Arlington and Mary E Davis, Walla Walla. The regular grange meeting followed the dinner. Mankins Entertain With Dinner Party Mr and Mrs Fred Mankin en tertained in their home Wednes day evening with a dinner party. Their guests were Mr and Mrs Conley Lanham and Mr and Mrs Tom Wilson. After dinner movies were shown of Mrs Mankin's trip to Hawaii and also colored slides of Hawaii were shown by Mrs Lanham, HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, April 23, 1959 Farewell Party Honors Three At Lodge Family Night A Joint Oddfellow-Rebekah familv night was held Wednes day, April 15 at the Heppner IOOF hall. Louis Jackson of lone and Mr and Mrs Frank David son were honored with a fare well party. About 80 persons from Hepp ner and lone attended. The erouD was entertained with numbers bv two members of the Off Beats, Sharon Keithley and Sheryl Harris; Elaine Laird sang, accompanied by her mo ther, Mrs Harold Laird and Ruth Peterson eave the reading that won her a blue ribbon at the speech contest at Boardman. Gifts were Dresented to the honored guests by the Oddfel lows, Rebekahs ana past noDie grands. Refreshments were served by a committee of Mrs Gerald Rood, Mrs Deb Wright, Mrs Fred Thom as. Mrs C J D Bauman and John Wlghtman. On the cleanup com mittee were Mrs Frank Payne, Mrs Roy Quackenbush, Mrs Glenn McLachlan. After the refreshments Rov Quackenbush, Mrs Oma Cox and Fred Thomas played for dancing there were several tables of cards in play and others watched TV.
