Lexington News By DELPHA JONES The Women's Fellowship group of the Christian church met at the home of Mrs LaVeme Hen derson on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs Florence Mc Millan. After the reading of the minutes, election of officers for the coming year was held with the following being elected: Mrs Mrs Florence McMillan, presi dent Rena Marquardt, vice presi dent; Delpha Jones, secretary; and Mrs La Verne Henderson, treasurer. At this meeting work was started on the baptismal robes. It was also an n o u n c e d that those wishing to do fancy work for the group could do so, and a bazaar would be held at a later date. Devotlonals for the day were given by Rev Norman Northrup. Refreshments were served to Mrs Trina Parker, Mrs Cora Allyn, Mrs Mae Campbell, Mrs Barbara Cutsforth, Mrs Flor ence McMillan, and Mrs Delpha Jones and the hostess, Mrs Hen derson. The next meeting will be at the W E McMillan home in April. The junior class of the Christ ian church Sunday school gath ered at the home of their teacher, Mrs M V Nolan to celebrate the birthdays of those having birth days, in January, February and March. The afternoon was spent In playing baseball, horseshoes, balloon blowing and other con tests. Leora Mae VanWinkle was crowned queen of the birthday party. Refreshments of hot dogs, roasted over an open fire, punch and birthday cake furnished by Jeanette Ledbetter were served. Those present were Kenny Jones, Konnie raerson, Phyliss Thorn burg, Leora Mae Van Winkle. Jeanette Ledbetter, and the host esses Phyllis Nolan and Mrs Nolan. Vern and Phyllis Nolan are spending the Easter vacation with their parents, Mr and Mrs M V Nolan. Maxine Snow, new aide, whose husband is the laboratory tech nician at the Heppner clinic, has been working nights at the hos pital. Recently feted by her fellow workers with a special retirement party was Mrs Malvina Harris who had worked in the hospital since its opening in 1950. Coffee and cake were enjoyed and Mai lie was presented with a gift Other people we will miss are Betty Johannesbro who left March 17 when her husband was transferred from Heppner, and nurse Elaine Mtonay who re turned to her home in Walla Walla, March 26. Co-workers surprised Gen (Mrs Bud) Springer on her birthday with cake and coffee. The pre sented her with a necklace as a remembrance. Following the business meeting a contest for making Easter hats was held. These were made from an assortment of flowers, ribbon, cardboard plates, hankies etc. There were four win ners, Mrs Catie Padberg, Bertha Hunt, Berniece Wihlon and Flor ence McMillan, so they drew lots with Mrs McMillan winning the prize. Refreshments were served by the N G Lets don't forget the junior class of the Lexington Sunday school is sponsoring a food sale on Saturday, March 28th from 9 to 10.-3Q a m at the Lexington post office. Let's don't forget the Easter Day dinner at the IOOF hall, sponsored by the Three Links club. Let's not forget to vote for the Queen of the Sweetheart Ball.
