lone Happenings By ECHO PALMATEER A card party was held at the Rebekah hall Saturday evening sponsored by the Three Links club of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge. The proceeds went to wards the United Nations Pil grimage fund. Those receiving prizes were in pinochle Omar Rietmann and Mrs David Riet mann, high; Herbert Ekstrom and Mrs Ida Coleman, low; Omar Rietmann, 300 pinochle. In bridge, Mrs Mary Swanson, high; Mrs Echo Palmateer, .low and Mrs Arvilla Swanson, Jack high. In pedro, Mrs Cecil Thorne high and Mrs E R Lundell, low. E R Lundell received the door prize. Member of the Girl's League of the high school were hosts at a bridal shower in honor of Miss Mildred Seehafer in the school cafetorium Saturday after noon. Mr and Mrs George Holder man and son, Bill, of Corvallis spent the weekend here with rel atives. Those from here who attended the sea foods demonstrations in Heppner last week were, Mrs Omar Rietmann, Mrs Ernest Hel iker, Mrs Marion Palmer, Mrs Lee Palmer and Mrs Earl Mo Cabe. A house warming was given in honor of the Art Warrens Sat urday evening, Jan 31 in their new home on the Warren farm. The hostesses were: Mrs James Pettyjohn, Mrs Elmer Holtz, Mrs Louis Carlson, Mrs Vester Hams and Mrs Roger Kincaid. Mr Hams. Mr Kincaid and Mr Pettyjohn. Cards were played and refreshments were served. Mrs Ida Coleman and Mrs Joe Gaarsland were hostesses at a pinochle party at the Coleman home Sunday evening. Those re ceiving prizes were: Lewis Ball, high and Mrs Sam Esteb, low. Mrs Eldon Tucker received the door prize. Miss Julie Rietmann, student at Whitman Colleee in Walla Walla, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs David Rietmann. She was accompanied by her cousins, Virginia and Lin da Swanson of Walla walla. Mr and Mrs Walter Swanson and Mr and Mrs Robert Swan son of Walla Walla spent Sun day at the Rietmann home and took the girls back to Walla Walla. Berl Akers, student at Pacific University spent the weekend with his parents, Mr and Mrs Berl Akers. His parents took him back to Forest Grove Monday. Mr and Mrs Dick Ekstrom and Vickey of LaGrande spent the weekend with relatives here. He is a student at EOCE. Larry Rietmann, student at the TTniversitv of Oreeon. spent the weekend with his parents, Mr and Mrs Omar Rietmann. Mr and Mrs Ted Palmateer gave a dinner Sunday at their home in honor of their son, Ronnie's birthday and her mo ther Mrs Annie Healy's birth day. Others present were, Miss Cecelia Healy of Portland, Mr and Mrs Jack Healy and child ren, Mr and Mrs Harry UDon noii and Tom Healv of Heppner, Mr and Mrs William Healy and children of Butter Creek and Ja net Palmateer. Mr and Mrs E Markham Baker spent the weekend at Eugene where they visited tneir aaugn- ter, Mardine, a student at me nniversitv of Orgeon and at tended Dad's Day activities. Mr and Mrs David McLeod and Mr and Mrs Robert Riet mann attended the state A C P meeting in Gearhart this week. I Mr and Mrs Delbert Emert and Mr and Mrs Denward Berg evin spent the weekend in Port land where they attended the Northwest Livestock Production Credit association meeting and banquet. Mr and Mrs Hubert Thorson of Roseburg are the parents of a son, Steven Neil, born Jan 22. Weight, 5 lbs and 9 oz. The Thor sons were former teachers in the lone high school and are now teaching in the Roseburg high school. Mrs Hershall Townsend is a patient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital. Mrs C L Lieuallen left for her home in Pendleton Sunday after spending several days at the home of her daughter and fam ily, Mr and Mrs Robert Jep sen.
