Mrs Iffie Stuart of John Day was visiting with her sister, Mrs George Stirritt. Ben Hlnton and Cortna Ham ilton of John Day were visiting at the Henry Durst home. A pink and blue shower was held Monday at the home of Jessie Scott in honor of Mrs For rest Noland. She received many nice gifts. June Hutchison was co -hostess. Mr and Mrs George Stubble field and son Jimmy, and Mr and Mrs Charlie Vandetta and daughter, Ada drove to Portland Sunday for one of the ball games. Thev returned Monday. Gerald Slocum and his father Lee were in Pendleton Monday nn business. Jim Croker left Monday night for Salem to attend the funeral of his mother-in-law, Mrs Lena Bartruff. The Crokers returned home Wednesday. Mr and Mrs Charlie Roach re turned home Tuesday evening from Chehalis, Wash where they had been to see his mother who is very ill. Mr and Mrs Fred McCaleb of Corvallis spent two days at the Bud Engle home. Gary Engle returned home with them to spend a week. Mrs Bill Gienger went to John Day Tuesday. Ray Gienger, who has been In the John Day clinic, returned with her. Mr and Mrs Otis Rickers and sons of Mt Vernon spent a few days visiting her folks, the Ar chie Giengers. Mr and Mrs Clifford Preston and family and Mr and Mrs Law rence Hendrickson and Arthur were weekend visitors at the Joe Wheeler ranch. Elza Wallace of Condon visited at the Bob Gienger home Sunday. George Johnson and mother, Mary Mclntyre of Hamilton, Mr and Mrs Dale Goodman and fam ily of Mt Vernon and Mr and Mrs Jim Post of Izee spent Sun day at the Archie Gienger home. Mrs Alvin Gienger and sons spent Sunday at Hermlston where they attended a family reunion of the family of Mrs Mary Rels ing. Her son John Buselck was home on furlough from the Navy. Bill, Archie and Lester Gien ger and Mr and Mrs Alvin Gien ger and two sons moved to the Walfinger place In Fox while haying for Jack Vaughan. Mr and Mrs Forest Noland and children were suDDer guests Thursday evening at the Ansll Martin home. Mr and Mrs Loyd Osborn and Mrs Sophia Leasy went to Prlne ville Sunday to attend the rodeo. Mr and Mrs Arlle Leasy and family of Fox were at the ranch looking after their cattle. Gene Cross and daughters Lin da and Sherry of Fox spent Sun day at the Bud Engle home. Mr and Mrs Ansil Martin had as supper guests Friday even ing the Harold Llppert family. Mr and Mrs Ernie Johnson were in Heppner Thursday on business. Loyd Gienger Is a patient in Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. Mr and Mrs Dean Enrlght and sons of the L S ranch spent Saturday evenings at the Bud Engle home. Mrs Clara Flowers left Thurs day evening for Portland for a few days on business and to vis it her folks. Mrs Norman DuBosch of La Grande is visiting her folks, Mr and Mrs Charlie Roach and her husband's parents, Mr and Mrs Victor DuBosch. Mr and Mrs Miles Gilman and daughter, Fern Pope was visiting at the Willard Gilman ranch for a few days. A birthday party was held at the Cottonwood school house in honor of Mrs Bill Gienger. Those attending were Mrs Bob Gienger, Mrs Gene Vaughan, Linda Cross, Mrs Loyd Gienger, Mrs Jenny Gienger, Mrs Addle Osborn, Mrs Bud Engle, Mies Marlene Lewis and the Gene Vaughan children. Mr and Mrs Joe Wheeler and family left Thursday for Buffalo, Missouri to visit his mother, Mr Delia Wheeler, who is ill. Mr and Mrs Sam Scott and son Robert spent the weekend in Vale with his folks. Millie Wilson and her sister from Tulelake, California arriv ed here Thursday to spend a while in the Wilson home. Mr and Mrs Bob Kingman of Alturas, California are spending their week's vacation with her folks, the Mattesons and Scotts. Mrs Jack Cavender made a business trip to John Day on Friday. . Owen Smith, LeRoy Buxton and Danny Jones were here over the weekend from their camp where they are cleaning right of way between Mitchell and Ochoco. Major and Mrs Elmer "Brick" Smith and daughter, who have spent the last three years on Oahu, Hawaii, spent the last week visiting her father, Lee Jones; sister and family, the Van Dettas and her brother Danny Jones. They left Monday for a new duty assignment at McChord Field, AFB, Tacoma, Washing ton. Mr and Mrs Ernie Roberts of Portland spent the weekend at the Charlie Van Detta home. Charlie Van Detta home. A lovely bridal shower was held on the lawn at the Mae McWillls home Wednesday after noon honoring Mrs Kenly Ward of Long Creek (Miss Shirley Mc Kinnon). Gale Engle drove to Dayton, Washington Wednesday with Mrs Clifford Howell. Jim Croker and son Ronny were in John Day on business Satur day. Fred Shank has been hauling grain for Bill Mahrt. Bob Porter and Georgia Stub blefield are spending two weeks in California and Nevada visit ing Bob's relatives. Mr and Mrs John Simas and Mr and Mrs Fred Crossett spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Earl Barnard and Mr and Mrs George Stirritt. Mr and Mrs Ed Rounds and grandchildren spent the week end in Fox. Mr and Mrs Theron King and Earl Frank made a business trip to Pendleton Monday. Ellen Stubblefield and Vera Gardnt spent the weekend in Mt Vernon with Mr and Mrs Ike Shank. Laura Lee Shank is visiting relatives in Bend and Madras. Orin Stubbleield and his bro ther, Murd returned from a camping trip to Hi-U station. Fred Shank and Theron King moved cattle from Fox to the King ranch on Monday. Mr and Mrs Henry Martin spent Sunday evening at the An sil Martin home. The Wayne Leathers family re turned home Thursday from Chico, California where they had visited a week with their daugh ter and family, the Ab Gates.
