Mrs Prock Entertains With Bridge Party Mrs James Prock entertained last Tuesday evening with two tables of bridge. Guests were Mrs Ned Sweek, Mrs Creston Robinson, Mrs Riley Munkers, Mrs James Mallon, Mrs Fred Gimbel, Mrs Marlon Green and Mrs William Labhart. High score was held by Mrs Robinson, Mrs Labhart was sec ond and Mrs Green low. Mrs Van Rickards went to Twickenham Saturday after their boys who had been visiting their grandparents. Mr and Mrs Wayne Leathers accompanied by their son Wayne, Jr, Laura Lee Shanks and Hankie Cupper drove to Portland recent ly where they met the Leather's daughter, Deanne, who had been on a tour through several states. James Hunt and Judy Allen of Fox were here Sunday visi ting his mother, Reeta Hunt and family. Mr and Mrs Harold Lippert and two sons took a truck load of cattle to Portland the first of the week. Robert Gertson is back here from his home In Portland visi ting with friends. Mrs Forrest Noland was on the sick list the past week. George Kirk, accompanied Mr and Mrs Mike Hutchinson and four children to Dayton, Wash ington Saturday where they spent the weekend at the home of the Joe Mellor family. They will return by way of Pendle ton where Mike is due for a checkup on his hip on Monday. . Those in John Day Saturday were Mrs H W Scott and son Robert Dale, Mr and Mrs Ansil Martin, Mrs Jim Derbin, Miss Caroline Martin and Chuck Wil liams. Miss Elaine Reynolds is work ing at the Flower's ranch on the river. Mrs Stella McCarty and three sons and her mother, Mrs Jo Schrum went to Springfield for a few days on business and visi ted Stella's sister and family, the Clayton Sweeks. Jim Durbin left Friday night for Salem on business and his wife, Vesta, will stay with the Ansil Martins until his return. Going to Heppner Saturday ev ening were Mr and Mrs Ernest Johnson, Mr and Mrs Ansil Mar tin and Mrs Vesta Durbin. Mrs Johnson will spend a month with her parents, Mr and Mrs N D Bailey, while she Is under the doctors care. They are busy getting the ce ment work done around the school yard and the lawn plan ted. Those helping with It were Mead Gilman, Elmer Matteson, Maynard Hamilton and Leonard Galaffie. Harold Lippert left Friday night with a load of stock for Portland. GOP FINANCE HEAD James F Short of Salem, state Republican chairman announced Tuesday the appointment of Glen A Holden as state finance chair man for the Republican party in Oregon. Holden Is a former resident of McMinnville now residing in Os wego and conducting his insur ance business in Portland. The 31 -year-old Republican succeeds Loran L Stewart of Cottage Grove, who resigned. Mrs Holden is the former Gloria McClintock of Sa lem.
