Featured in the style show were cotton dresses, skirts, blouses, reversible skirts and Jackets of Pendleton wool and better dresses. Other entertainment included a piano duet by Jeannie and Judy Schmidt and selections by the high school chorus under the direction of Norman Peters. At the business meeting it was announced that two scholarships of $25 each to attend summer camp will be awarded a high school girl and a girl chosen from grades five through eight by Soroptimist International of Heppner. Selection will be based on kindness, courtesy and help fulness to others. A study on suggestions to open a teenage center at a local res taurant was turned down by the Investigating committee. Kenneth Keeling reported on the bloodmobile program and re quested donors from the assoc iation. Joe Stewart, school super intendent, reported on school re organization. Hostesses were, Mrs William Barratt, Mrs James Healy, Mrs Orval Matheny, Mrs Raymond French, Mrs William Cox and Mrs Kenneth Keeling. Extension Unit Meets At Merritt Gray Home The Heppner Extension Unit met Tuesday at the home of Mrs Merritt Gray for the project les son on broiler meals. Mrs Frank Wilkinson and Mrs Al Fetsch, project leaders, pre pared and served a delicious broiler meal to the group. Officers elected for 1958-59 are Mrs William Heath, chairman; Mrs Riley Munkers, vice-chair man; and Mrs Sam Turner, secretary-treasurer. (Photo by Dr R W Pfeiffer) Soroptimists Hear Education Report At the Thursday luncheon meeting of Soroptimist Internat ional of Heppner at O'Donnell's, Mrs John Pfeiffer read a paper on education in Soroptimism and a report was given on the East er Seal sale. Special guests escorted to the East were Mrs Walter Jeager of Condon, grand Esther of the grand chapter of Oregon; Mrs C C Carmichael, grand repre sentative to the state of New Jersey in Oregon; Mr- and Mrs Charles O'Connor, worthy ma tron and worthy patron of Lo cust chapter at lone; Mr and Mrs Thomas Gilliland, worthy matron and worthy patron of Purple Sage chapter at Pilot Rock; Mrs J E Taggart, worthy matron and Bob Russell, worthy patron of Queen Esther chapter at Hermiston; Mrs Nina Van Horn, worthy matron of Arcadia chapter at Fossil and Walter Jaeger, worthy patron of Condon chapter. The officers of Ruth chapter, assisted by Oliver Creswick, so loist, gave an addendum, The Jewels of Friendship, and a pan tomime was presented by Rain bow Girls, Sandra Jones, Sheryl Harris, Sharon Keithley, Judy Brinda and Judy Cochell. Refreshments were served in the dining room which was dec orated with spring flowers. Hos tesses were Mrs Harold Becket, Mrs James Hayes, Mrs Frank Connor, Mrs James Thomson and Charles Vaughn. Dance Recital On April 25 For Benefit Of lone Library Dance students of Doris Long will present a recital on April 25 at 7:30 at the lone school cafetorium for the benefit of the lone public library. The lone Le gion Auxiliary will serve pie and coffee following the recital with the proceeds going to the Child Welfare Fund. Former Residents Observe Anniversary A small anniversary party was given April 9 at the home of Dr and Mrs Clyde Fike of Kamiah, Idaho for Mr and Mrs Jack Mills who celebrated their 60th wedd ing anniversary. Mr and Mrs Mills were resi dents of Morrow county many years ago and formerly ranched near lone. Mrs Mills Is the form er Elbra Swaggart. A September wedding is plan ned. The Kendalls are former Hepp ner residents, moving to Ukiah from here.
