were cotton dresses, skirts,
blouses, reversible skirts and
Jackets of Pendleton wool and
better dresses.
Other entertainment included
a piano duet by Jeannie and
Judy Schmidt and selections by
the high school chorus under the
direction of Norman Peters.
At the business meeting it was
announced that two scholarships
of $25 each to attend summer
camp will be awarded a high
school girl and a girl chosen
from grades five through eight
by Soroptimist International of
Heppner. Selection will be based
on kindness, courtesy and help
fulness to others.
A study on suggestions to open
a teenage center at a local res
taurant was turned down by the
Investigating committee.
Kenneth Keeling reported on
the bloodmobile program and re
quested donors from the assoc
iation. Joe Stewart, school super
intendent, reported on school re
organization. Hostesses were, Mrs William
Barratt, Mrs James Healy, Mrs
Orval Matheny, Mrs Raymond
French, Mrs William Cox and
Mrs Kenneth Keeling.
Extension Unit Meets
At Merritt Gray Home
The Heppner Extension Unit
met Tuesday at the home of Mrs
Merritt Gray for the project les
son on broiler meals.
Mrs Frank Wilkinson and Mrs
Al Fetsch, project leaders, pre
pared and served a delicious
broiler meal to the group.
Officers elected for 1958-59 are
Mrs William Heath, chairman;
Mrs Riley Munkers, vice-chair
man; and Mrs Sam Turner, secretary-treasurer.

Education Report
At the Thursday luncheon
meeting of Soroptimist Internat
ional of Heppner at O'Donnell's,
Mrs John Pfeiffer read a paper
on education in Soroptimism and
a report was given on the East
er Seal sale.
It was announced that the
Red Cross will take blood here
in May and the club has been
asked to help get donors.

the dining room which was dec

Dance Recital On
April 25 For Benefit
Of lone Library
Dance students of Doris Long
will present a recital on April
25 at 7:30 at the lone school
cafetorium for the benefit of the
lone public library. The lone Le
gion Auxiliary will serve pie and
coffee following the recital with
the proceeds going to the Child
Welfare Fund.
