Mrs Earl McCabe, chairman of the Juniors activities, held a meeting at the Legion hall Tues day aiternoon Feb 4. They had games of riddles and were tohd stories about Washington and Lincoln. Mr and Mrs Emil Rilling, miss ionaries from Southern Rhodesia, Africa, gave talks and showed slides at the Baptist church Thursday evening of last week. They were accompanied by their three children. The Nazarene church held its missionary meeting at the home of Rev and Mrs Charles Wilkes Thursday of last week. It is the Foreign Nazarene Missionary Society and the officers are Mrs Wilbur Akers president; Mrs Ralph Crum, vice president, Jack Crum treasurer and Mrs Elbe Akers has charge of the box work. Their paper is The Other Sheep and they study Japan with Mrs Wilkes as chairman. They meet the first Thursday of each month. After the business meet ing a baby shower was given in honor of Mrs R II Woodroof of Maupin. Any one interested in giving gifts may leave them with Mrs Wilkes. Refreshments were served by Mrs Wilkes and (Mrs Elbe Akers. Clothing has been sent to Honduras and New Mexico. Among those from here who attended the 8th National Assoc iation of Wheat Growers at the Davenport hotel last week were Mr and Mrs Lloyd Howton, Mr and Mrs Walter Jacobs, Mr and Mrs Roy Lindstrom, Mr and Mrs Milton Morgan, Oscar Peterson and Kenneth Smouse. Over 200 were served at the spaghetti and tuna dinner at the school cafetorium Friday even ing Feb 7 sponsored by the P-TA Cake Walks were also enjoyed. Stanfield grade school played here in the afternoon and Hepp ner High school played in the ev ening, lone grades won both games. lone won the B string game and lost the A string game to Heppner. The primary grades played basketball during the halves. Mr and Mrs Lewis Ball enter tained at a pinochle party at their home Saturday evening. Guests present were Mr and Mrs W G Seehafer, Mr and Mrs Joe Gaarsland, Mr and Mrs Walter Corley, Mr and Mrs Donald Ball, Mr and Mrs Sam Esteb, Mrs Ed ith White, Dale White, Elmer Petersen and Mrs Imogene Moon ey. Mr and Mrs Clifford Aldrich spent Sunday at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Luther Garner in Pendleton. Mr and Mrs Robert Rietmann and sons spent Saturday in Pen dleton. Mr and Mrs Alvin McCabe of La Grande spent the weekend with relatives here. Mr McCabe is a student at EOCE. The Extention Unit met at the home of Mrs Joe Hausler Thurs day Feb 6. The project leaders were Mrs Elmer Holtz and Mrs Bryce Keene who demonstrated table setting and hospitality. There were around 23 present. Mrs Kenne received the door prize. Mrs Holtz and Mrs Keene served refreshments. Mr and Mrs Clarence Holtz at tended the dedication of the Cal vary Lutheran church in Sunny side, Wash Sunday. The Co-Wed club met recently at the home of Mr and Mrs Noel Dobyns with Mrs Robert Jepsen and Mrs Robert DeSpain as host esses. Mrs Bonnie Story of Pen dleton gave a talk on child de linquency and child guidance. The club meets every 4th Thurs day night. Mrs Hattie Crabtree moved in to her new home on Third street last week. Mr and Mrs Lewis Halvorsen, Mrs Leo Crabtree of lone and Mr and Mrs Archie Munkers of Lexington assisted with moving her household goods from Salem.where she made her home for several years. Wallce Matthews returned home Thursday of last week from the Pioneer Memorial hos pital where he was a patient for a few days due to a fractured rib received when he was kicked by a horse at his home south of lone. , Mrs E R Lundell, Mrs Cleo Drake and Mrs Paul Pettyjohn were Pendleton visitors one day last week. They visited at the Ray Turner home. Mrs Cecil Thorne is visiting her son and family, Mr and Mrs William Eagle at Misoula, Montana. Alton Yarnell was a recent Portland visitor.
