Allen ft. 117 lOVa NX 6th 1 i Mllton-Fieeworter SEE ON DISPLAY AT I Heppner GAZETTE TIMES 2 Annual Christmas Party Held Thursday By Soroptimist Club Members of Soroptimist Inter national of Heppner held their annual Christmas work party Thursday evening at the home of Miss Leta Humphreys. The rooms were beautiful with Christmas decorations and boxes of homemade candy and cookies were packed to send to the Veter an's hospital in Walla Walla. Al so, boxes of complete dinners were packed and will be given to the elderly men without families. Refreshments of birthday cake and Christmas figurines of ice cream were served and on the table was the tablecloth sent to the club by members of Soropti mists International, of Tamworth, England. The cake was in honor of the birthdays of Mrs. E. E. Gonty, Mrs. Frank Hamlin and Mrs. Harry O'Donnell Sr. A letter was read from Mrs. Lucy Rodgers of Milwaukie, an honorary members of the Heppner club. December 29 Set As Wedding Date The wedding of Miss Jean Marie Graham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Graham, to Mr, Bernard Damon, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Damon of La Grande, will be an event of Sunday, Dec ember 29 at All Saints' Episcopal church at 2:00 p. m., with the reception following in the parish house. All friends and relatives are cordially invited. Bongers Hold Open House Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bongers held open house at their home from 2 to 6 p. m. on Wednesday, Guests were the doctors, the members of the board of dihectors and the hospital staff of the Mor row county Pioneer Memorial hospital, their husbands and wives. 5 I I We're hoping you'll have a most j glorious Christmas , NORAH'S SHOP Sans Souci Rebekahs Have Christmas Party Sans Souci Rebekah lodge's Christmas party was enjoyed by 40 mebers and families Friday night, December 20 at the IOOF hall. An exchange of gifts and the quarterly birthday party were combined with a fitting Christmas movie being shown by Pete Mc Murtry for the Oddfellows con tribution to the entertainment. A regular business meeting was held before the party with noble grand Esther Bergstrom in the chair. Refreshments of cakes, gelatin desserts, sandwiches and coffee were served at the close of the evening. o Mrs. Fulleton Heads Band Parents Club The Band Parfents club of the Heppner school had its first regu lar meeting on Monday, Dec. 9 at the school music room. Officers elected were Mrs. Rolce Fulleton, president; Herman Green, vice president; and Mrs. Herb Case secretary-treasurer. Plans were discussed for the annual carnival given by the club and a plan is being worked out for the grade school band mem bers to exchange white trousers as they are outgrown. IONE iContinued from Page Four) Around 45 people attended the Legion Christmas party at the Legion hall Tuesday evening, Dec. 17. A potluck dinner was served by the members of the Auxiliary. The hall was decora ted with Christmas decorations. Mrs. Cecil Thome and Mrs Cor liss McLeod had charge of the decorations. Games were played after the dinner. Mrs. E. R. Lundell was honored with a birthday dinner Wednes day, Dec. 18 by her daughters, Mrs. Cleo Drake, Mrs. Lloyd Mor gan and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn. Others present were Mr. Lundell, Mr. Morgan, Mr. Drake and son Robert and Mr. Pettyjohn. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker and daughter Mardine left Friday of last week for Palo Alto, Calif, to visit their son and daughter-ln law, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Baker, Noel Streeter underwent sur gery at the Veteran's hospital In Walla Walla Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Streeter went over to be with him. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn and daughter Dianna, and Mrs, E. R. Lundell visited relatives in Portland recently. Mr. and Mrs. Milton 'Morgan and children Marilyn and Gary left Wednesday, Dec. 18 by plane for Mexico City where they will spend the holidays. The following officers were el ected and installed in the Three Links club at a meeting Monday, Dec. 16 at the home of Mrs. Wate Crawford: Mrs. Harvey Ring, president; Mrs. Cecil Thome, vice president; and Mrs. E. R. Lundell secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Er nest Heliker was appointed war den and Mrs. David Rletmann, chaplain. Mrs. Crawford was the installing officer assisted by Mrs, Heliker. An exchange of Christ mas gifts was held. Mrs. Ring was co-hostess. There were 18 members present and three guests Mrs. Grace Ware, Mrs. 0. L. Lun dell and Mrs. Arthur Crawford. The H. E. C. club of Willows grange met at the home of Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen Friday, Dec. 20 with Mrs. Hershall Townsend as co-hostess. A potluck dinner was served at noon. After the busi ness meeting an exchange of gifts was held and secret pals were revealed and Mrs. Echo Palma teer showed slides of her recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands. Each member brought a Christmas favor suitable for a hospital tray, these favors being donated to the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. The group sang Christmas car ols and listened to pipe organ mu sic. Mrs. Royal Rands was winner of the door prize. Mrs. Miller had her home rich ly decorated in Christmas fashion and presented each one present with a holly corsage, made by Mrs. Rollin Bishop. Russell Miller and Harold Baker spent Tuesday in Heppner on business. Guests present were Mrs. Effle Miller and Mrs. Donald Downey,.
