( After the bride and groom tut . the first piece of cake the rest was served by Mrs. Edward Al drich and Mrs. Ernest Christoph erson, Jr. The cake was decorat ed to represent a garden wedd-, ing with the full bridal party on it. Three large bells decorated the top and also featured were but terflies seashells and doves and flowers. Women of Golf Club Organize Auxiliary Fourteen women of the Willow Creek Country club met Friday morning for coffee at the home of Mrs. Larry Dowan and organized an auxiliary. Mrs. Dowen was elected presi dent, Mrs. Frank Anderson, vice president and Mrs. Harry O'Don nell, Jr. treasurer. Every Tuesday will be ladies day at the golf club, with start ing time to be 9:00 a. m. fol lowed by a sack lunch at noon. A food sale has been planned for Saturday September 21 at Central Market with Mrs. C. E. McQuarrie as chairman. Plans were also made to serve a stag night dinner at the Elks with Mrs. Lowell Gribble acting as chairman. 25th Anniversary Open House Honors Frank Hamlins Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wright hon ored Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamlin Sunday on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. Early in the afternoon a din ner was served to members of the family. During the open house which was held at the Hamlin home from 3 to 7, approximately 60 friends dropped in to offer their congratulations. Many relatives and friends unable to come to Heppner for the celebration tele phoned during the day. ' t Edmondson-Pierson I Vows Exchanged In La Grande Garden In a garden ceremony in La Grande Miss Helen Pierson, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Pier son became the bride of Jack N. Edrrlondson, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Tash, Heppner. A garden wedding was held at the home of the bride's parents at 607 M avenue August 31, at five o'clock. The Past Bishop, C. Lloyd Walch performed the cere mony. The wedding music was played by David I. Stoddard at the organ, the soloist, Mertice Berry sang "O Promise Me", and "No Other Love." There was a white garden altar, decorated with candelabra, white gladiolus and orange blos soms. , The bride was given in marri age by her father. She was wear ing a ballerina length champ aign lace over taffeta gown matching shoes and picture hat She wore a pearl necklace, gITt of the groom. Her bouquet was yellow roses and daisies. The matron of honor was Jean Elliott ,a sister of the bride. She was wearing a ballerina length gown of kelly green, and a match ing picture hat she carried a bas ket of yellow daisies. The brides maids were Cinda Lee Elliott and Suzanne Clark, both nieces of the bride. They wore ballerina length dresses of kelly green, made Identical to the matron of honor. They had matching poke bonnets and carried baskets of yellow daisies. The best man, Robert E. Clark, is a brother-in-law of the bride. The ushers wre Howard Pierson of La Grande and Floyd Sayers of Heppner. The mother of the bride wore a winter white dress with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The groom's mother chose a wine lace over taffeta dress with black accessories her flow ers were also pink roses. The reception was held at the Sacajawea hotel with decorations of autumn colors and fall flow ers. The bride's tables was cent ered with a four tiered wedding cake decorated with yellow and brown roses to carry out the fall theme. The bride and groom cut the traditional first piece of cake. The reception was under the charge of Mrs. J. N. Baker and Mrs. Cliff Stewart. Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Wilbur Nichols, sister of the bridegroom, served the wed ding cake. Pouring were Mrs. C. D. Kelley, Mrs. Cecil Mellinger, Mrs. Kenneth Pierson, all aunts of the bride, and Mrs. Cecil Hale, a cousin , of the bride. At the groom's table were Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Cutsforth. In charge of guest book and Dancing Classes Give Recitdl Friday Doris Long presented her danc ing classes in recital Friday eve ning at the multipurpose room in the grade school, -x Those dancing were Donelle Mallory Susie Koenig Sherri O'Brien, Linda Eckmari, Linda Van Winkle, Barbara Blake, Bar bara Gribble, Sheridan Wyman, Elaine Laird and Laura Lee Sumner, all of Heppner; Barbara Bloodsworth, Jeannette Ledbetter, Martha Doherty, Dora Sue David son, Beverly Davidson, Hugo Ley va, Lexington; and two students from Kinzua. Fourth Birthday Party Held Thursday Michael Wagoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Wagoner, had a party Thursday afternoon celeb lating his fourth birthday. Ice cream, birthday cake, bal loons and hats were a feature of the afternoon. Guests were Judy and Debbie Bennett Marsha Young, Jimmy Schaffitz and the guest of honor. gifts were Mrs. Robert Clark, sist er of the bride, and Mrs. Robert Wilkins. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Kenneth Pierson Jr., Mrs. Ronald Bridges, Miss Phyllis Col lins and Miss Phyllis Nichols. Special music for the reception was provided by a ladies quartet, Mrs. Raymond Berry, Mrs. Keith Hibbert, Mrs. George Hendrick son and Mrs. Robert E. Clark ac companied by Mrs. C. D. Kelley. They sang "Walk Hand in Hand" and "Let the Rest of the World Go By." The couple took a honeymoon trip to Payette Lakes and McCall, Idaho, coming home through Lewiston. For her traveling the bride wore a light blue wool dress and matching hat with black "ac cessories. They will be at home at 303 M avenue In La Grande. The bride attended La Grande high schools, Eastern Oregon col lege and Brigham Young Uni versity Provo, Utah, the groom at tended Heppner schools, Oregon State college and Northwestern School of Commerce. The groom is employed at the Inland Ma chinery Company and the bride at Wilkins Real Estate and Insurance. Guests from this area were Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Tash and Floyd Sayers, Heppner, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Cutsforth, Lexington. First Ladies Night Of Fall Held at Elks The first ladies night of the new fall season was held Thurs day evening at the Elks club. Both bridge and pinochle were played with refreshments served following the cards and lodge. Mrs. Pat O'Brien and Mrs. Glenn Ward were in charge, assisted by Mrs. Marion Green Mrs. Delmer Buschke Mrs. Marshall Lovgren an1 Mrs. Matt Hughes. High score in bridge was won , by Mrs. Ned Sweek and second high by Mrs. William Labhart; ' in pinochle Mrs. Kemp Dick had j high score and Mrs. Walter Beck- et second. The door prize went to Mrs. Frank Wilkinson. lone Sorority Has Novel Sunday Party The members of the lone chap ter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha at tended a surprise "come as you are" party Sunday morning, Sept. 15 at 6 a.m. The social committee called on members at their homes and es corted them to the home of Mrs. Delmer Crawford where rolls and coffee were served. The ways and means commit tee announced they are making plans for a public Hallowe'en party to be held October 31 at 8 p.m. at the lone American Le gion hall. Dinner Party In Honor of Birthday Diane Schaffitz celebrated her 10th birthday Friday evenine with a dinner party at the home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs, E. K. Schaffitz.
