90 Enroll in Vacation Bible School at By Mary Lou Marlow The Dally Vacation Bible school of Community church finished its two weeks by presenting a pro gram Friday night with Miss Zel ma Cowan in charge. Total en rollment was 90, with an average attendance of 71. The school voted to give Its offering this year to the church to be used for painting the outside of the building. Hand iwork of the pupils was displayed following the program. Mrs. Evangeline McNeill and daughters of Cannon Beach Bible conference, and Lanson Ross, youth speaker, were overnight Vis itors in Boardman Sunday. Ross was guest speaker at Community church. A truck and trailer owned by Hubbard Lumber Co. of Caldwell, Idaho, loaded with wheat, was crowded off the road into the ditch on highway 30 at Boardman last Thursday afternoon. A car driven by Eugene Sheppard, about 21, from Twin Falls, Idaho, started to turn off the highway onto the service road, and turned into the side of the truck. The truck was badly damaged and wheat was spilled all over the road and in the irrigating ditch. The truck driver, Roy Diaper, was uninjured, as was his companion Charles Wolfe. Sheppard and another un identified youth, were on their way to Vancouver, Wash. The truck was going to Portland. They will attend the wedding of Miss Carma Darlene Barlow and Mr. David Pinkston at the Magnolia Avenue Baptist church in Riverside, June 22. Capt. C. A. Paul, USAF, visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gantenbein Thursday. Capt. Paul has just fin ished a six weeks training course at Moody Airforce base at Zal dosta, Ga., and before that was flight commander at Laredo, Tex., for three years. From here he went to Great Falls, Mont., where he will be in charge of All Weather Fighter Interceptor jets. Capt. Paul lived at the Gantenbein home 10 years ago when they resided at Sandy, Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Nlckerson of Colorado Springs, Colo., 'were recent visitors with their nephew, Charles Nickerson, on their way home from Salem. Roberta Dilley of Eagle Creek has been a visitor the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Shat tuck. Mr. and Mrs. Earl May have moved to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baker of Corbett visited three days last week with her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Miller. Mrs. Effie Miller returned home with them. Sigvald Aase, school superin tendent, left Sunday for Eugene to attend summer school at U. of O. Mrs. Keith Tannehill of The Dalles visited Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tannehill three days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black and daughter Diane left last week for Newport where Black will attend FFA summer school. Mrs. Black and Diane will visit Mrs. Crystal Barlow at Taft, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Turner at Philmath. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Miller took their son Jim and Larry West to Corbett Saturday where they will attend Trout Creek Bible camp for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Miller visited overnight at the home of his sister, Mr. and -Mrs. Ralph Baker. Mrs. Warren Dillon and son of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, visited Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dillon and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Getz last week Mrs. Dillon also visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Compton at Heppner Junction. Among those attending the an nual Pioneer picnic at Cleveland, Wash., last Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Shattuck and sons, Roberta Dilley, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West and children, Mr. and Mrs. Don Downey and sons and Mrs. Louise Earwood and daugh ter Shirley. Mrs. Clifford Jones visited her mother, Mrs. Loren Amack in Portland last week. Her sister, Mrs. Fred Eley. accompanied her home. Mrs. Toivo Simila and children of Portland are visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Skou bo. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lilly and four children of La Grande visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elvln Ely, Sunday. A weekend visitor at the Ely home was their grand daughter, Gale Vaught of Rich land, Wash., while her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Vaught, at tended the Portland Rose festival. Visitors were Mrs. Keith Tannehill of Portland and Mrs. Golda Cox of Tacoma. Mrs. George Anderson and daughter Colleen and her brother, Bud Puckett, went to Gresham over the weekend to pick straw berries. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Thorpe of Hermiston were weekend visitors at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe. Sandra and Teresa Thorpe accompanied them home for a week's visit. Heppner Wranglers Hold Hey Dey Meet About 150 persons attended the annual Hey Dey held by the Wranglers Riding club at the rodeo grounds. A street parade downtown preceded the event. Th annual conference will be held October 15 through 17 In the college's Memorial Union build ing. Theme of this year's con ference will be 'The Church Serv ing the Community." Key speaker at the conference will be Prof. Louis A. Wolfanger of Michigan State university East Lansing, Mich. Wolfanger is na tionally known for his work on land use and community plan ning.
