Wagner, Glen Long, Misses Beth Mateer, Juanita Stark, Dianna Montee, Wanda Martin, Joann Isackson, Sue Comstock, all of Pendleton; Mrs. Ed Wilson, Ukiah; Mrs. Lee Fleming, Monu ment; Mr. and Mi's. The bride was a graduate of Pendleton high school with the class of 1957 and the groom grad uated from Heppner high school in 1955. After a short honeymoon, the couple will be at home in Heppner where the groom is em ployed. o Traffic Safety Theme Of Soroptimist Meet At the regular meeting of Sor optimist International of Heppner, Miss Leta Humphreys, president elect, presided in the absence of Mrs. Robert Penland, president. Topic of the program was "Va cation Driving." Each member gave suggestions for traffic safe ty, which was followed by discus sion of what the organization might be able to do toward en couraging safe driving or securing legislation that might lower' the accident rate in Oregon, o Need Letterheads? W. 10th, Pendleton, Oregon Social H appemngs CHERRY GRAY BECOMES BRIDE OF GEORGE HERMANN ON SATURDAY By Delpha Jones The Hope Lutheran church was the scene of a 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday, June 16, when Miss Cherry Gray, daughter of Mrs. Nita Gray of Ukiah and Carl Gray of Idaho, and George E. Hermann, son of Mrs. Alex Hunt of Lexing ton, were united in marriage. Rev. Merlin Zier performed the double ring ceremony. Baskets of painted daisies and mock orange tied with white satin ribbon bows, were at either side of the altar. Escorted by Dean Hunt, the bride was lovely in a white lace and satin gown with lace over satin bodice and tulle skirt, with insets of lace flowers. She wore a veil caught on either side, cas cading to the waist in the back. She carried a white satin Bible with a cascade of white stephan otis and baby red roses. Mrs. C. C. Carmichael played the prenuptial music and accom panied Vic Kreimeyer, who sang, "Because" and Prayer." Mrs. Dean Hunt, matron of hon or, wore pink with a white car per lace with a yellow and brown orchid and the bride's mother wore blue lace with a pink car nation corsage. After a short wedding trip the young couple will be at home in Lexington where they have purch ased a home and where he is em ployed. Mrs. Hermann is employed in Heppner at the R.E.A. office. Thy are both graduates of Lex ington high school. o- Mary Ruth Green Honored At Bridal Shower Wednesday Mrs. Claude Graham, Mrs. How ard Bryant and Mrs. Paul Jones were hostesses last Wednesday evening at the Methodist church for a bridal shower honoring Miss Mary Ruth Green, whose wedding will be an event of June 23. The groom's mother wore cop- McDonald-Benge Wedding Event Of Sunday At Condon By ECHO PALMATEER Miss Lynn Marie Benge, daugh ter of Mrs. Harlan Devin of Con don and Terrel Benge of lone, and George McDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. George McDonald, Sr., of Denver were married Sunday, June 16 a 4 p.m. at the Com muntiy Congregational church" in Condon, with Rev. Stuart Goude officiating. The bride, given in marriage by her mother, wore a ballerina length white lace dress over satin, with a fingertip veil held in place with a crown of lace, sequins and pearls. She also wore white lace shoes and carried a Bible with an orchid. Mrs. Bobby Dixon, matron of honor, wore a white dotted swiss dress with blue dots. The brides maids, Karen Kruse, Leann Pad berg and Janet McDonald, wore blue dotted swiss dresses with with white dots. The attendants all carried bouquets of Esther Reed daisies. George McDonald, the groom's father, was best man and the ush ers were Ralph Lee Benge, Boyd Devin and William Dellisario. The candlelighters were Garnett Parman and Joan Arbogast. Mrs. Jack Harris was at the organ and Mrs. Van Rietmann sang for the ceremony. The church was decorated with blue and white delphiniam and white gladioli. At the reception, which follow ed the ceremony, the bride and groom cut the first piece of the cake and the remainder was serv. ed by Mrs. C. W. Burton and Mrs. Walter Frum. Mrs. Rudy Mis tish was at the punch bowl, Mrs. Robert Cason and Mrs. Darrell Padberg poured, Mrs. David Gon zales had charge of the gift ta ble and Mrs. Clarence Kruse was in charge of the guest book. The bride's mother wore beige with lavendar accessories and the groom's mother wore beige with pink accessories. For going away the bride wore a brown suit with white accessor ies. The couple will make their home in Denver, after a honey moon trip. No invitations are being sent. . o Elks Have Flag Day Service and Ladies Night Card Party Flag Day was commemorated with a special service by mem bers of B.P.O. Elks No. 358 on June 13 at the lodge hall. The program consisted of, offic ers march, Mrs. C. C. Carmichael; introductory exercises, exalted ruler William Labbart and offic ers; prayer, chaplain Glen Ward; song, Oliver Creswick; history of the flag, Gordon Pratt; response, W. C. Rosevvall and altar service, officers. Flag bearers were Bruce Rigby, Wayne Hams, Bill Parsons, Jimmy Farra, Donald Van Winkle and Mike Smith. Following the service, during the regular lodge meeting, the women were entertained at ntne tables of bridge and pinochle. High score in bridge was held by Mrs. La Verne Van Marter, Jr., and Mrs. Donald Bellenbrock was second. High in pinochle was Mrs. Jack Van Winkle and second was Mrs. Clyde Pettyjohn. Hostesses were Mrs. Kemp Dick, chairman, assisted by Mrs. Bud Wagoner, Mrs. Ned Sweek, Mrs. Don Bennett, Mrs. Jack Healy and Mrs. Harley Young.
