Mem bers of the Post carried the col ors, a wreath was placed on the memorial plaque, several num bers were played by the school band, a prayer and address were given by Rev. Floyd Bailey and taps were played. A potluck din ner followed at noon at the Le gion hall at which a large crowd attsnded. The Ball family and other rel atives enjoyed a picnic in the park Memorial Day. Mrs. John Eubanks and daugh ter, Sandra, were Portland visit ors last week where they saw her motheft Mrs. Mattie Morgan aboard the plane for the Hawai ian Islands. Mrs. Morgan went on the Gold Star Mothers tour to the Islands where she attended the Memorial Day services there. Those from here who are at tending the Catholic summer school in Heppner are John Mc Elligot, James McElligot, Patrick McElligot, Maureen McElligot, Janet Palmateer, John and Jim mie Swanson, Tom McElligott, Janice Snider, Linda and Susan Hams, and Michael and Jerry Davidson. Robert and Susan Baker are at tending the Catholic summer school in Pendletton and are staying with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gorgor. Mrs. Gordon White and daugh ter, L(5na, attended the gradua tion exercises in Pendleton last week and while there were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Smith. Mrs. L A. McCabe, Mrs. Jimmie Pettyjohn and Mrs. Leo Crabtree and son, Ronald, attended the (graduation exercises at EOCE in La Grande Monday evening. Ronald Crabtree will visit at the Alvan McCabe home there for a week. . Mrs. Charles O'Conner and Mrs. Omar Reitman attended the grand chapter of Oregon Order of Eastern Star in Portland this week. Among those from here who attended the Fat Stock Show in The Dalles this week were Roland Ekstrom, Kenneth Lynn Smouse and Kenneth Nelson.. Mr. and Mrs. Paul O'Meara and Mrs.-Leo Crabtree were visit ors in The Dalles last week. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon White, Mrs. Edith White and Mrs. Imo gene Mooney spent Memorial Day at Yakima and returned by way of Prosser where they visi ted relatives. Recent guests at the A. E. Stefani home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stefani and Mrs. Merle Bou sha Sf Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Hogue of Heppner are visiting the Stefanis this week. Adon Hamlett and Pinky Allyn were California visitors last week. .Mr. Hamlett visited relatives at San Jose and Val lejo and Mr. Allyn visited in Oakland. Jerry Bristow, student at EOCE, spent Sunday with his sister and family Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McCabe. He was accom panied by Miss Janicee Robert son. Mrs. Earl Wright of Baker is visiting her mother, Mrs. Ida Grabill. Funeral services were held for Zenett Loggan at Arlington Monday, June 3. He has resided in Portland the past two years but was a former resident in the Arlington and Cecil communities. He is survived by a sister, Ettie Logan of Portland and was an uncle of Mrs. Ray Barnett of lone. Mrs. Gordon White and Mrs. Joe Gaarsland and children spent Sunday at Bickleton, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Wade and daughters of Walla Walla spent a few days at the David Reitman home this week.. Miss Virginia Jepsen, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jep sen graduated from the Emanu el Hospital school of Nursing Sunday, June 2. The ceremonies were held at the Westminster Presbyterian church with Dr. S. L. Swenson, president of the Co lumbia conference of Augustana Lutheran church officiating. Those from here attending were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Holtz and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson and family. John Jepsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jepsen, graduated Sunday, June 2, from the Ore gon school of Technology at Kla math Falls. Recent visitors at the Franklin Lindsttrom home were Dr. and Mrs. Theodore Jackman of St. Petersburg. Florida. Dr. Jackman was the tour leader for the Llnd stroms when they took their trjp around, the world two years ago. College students home for the summer are: Dorothy Dobyns, Judy Mason, Janet Howton and Donald Eubanks from 'Pacific University; Wayne Reitman and John Jepsen from Oregogn Tech; Dennis Swanson from Portland University; Jean Ann Swanson from- Marylhurst College. Mr., and Mrs. Duane Baker of Forest Grove spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker. Janet Howton was accompan ied home by Clinton Agee. Judy Mason is working for her aunt, Mrs. Clrfra Kincaid dur ing the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baker are the parents of a son, Patrick Edward, born in Pendleton May 20. Weight 3 lb. and 12 oz. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Baker of Lexing toon and Mrs. Margaret Harper of Torrence, Calif, are the grand parents. The baby is in the in cubator in the St. Anthony's hos pital in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Robert De Spain are the parents of a son, Chris David, born at the Pioneer Mem orial hospital May 29. Weight 8 lb. 4 oz. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lieu ailen of lone, Mrs. Tony De Spain of Cascade Locks, Glen De Spain of Pilot Rock and Fred Painter of Portland are the grandparents. Mr and Mrs. R. D. Alstott of Hermiston and Mrs. A. J. Stam er of Albany are the" great grandparents. Charles Ely of Coos Bay and George Ely of Salem have been visiting Relatives here the past two weeks. H. O. Ely is a patient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital. Mrs. Agnes Wilcox and Mrs. Mabel Denney of Portland were visitors here last week. Mrs.- Walter Dobyns left Sun day for Eugene where she will visit her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Hardesty. Mrs. Hardeety has been ill at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Palmateer and children returned home last week from the coast and Port land. They were accompanied by Jean Marie and Jerry Healy of Heppner.. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kamrath of Oregon City spent Sunday at the William Rawlins home. . Mr . John Hatfield recently vis ited in western Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. John Armington and daughter left for their home in Los Angeles Monday after vis iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray. . , Mrs.. Georgia Brewster of Port land was a patient in the Pio neer hospital last week. Mrs. Milton Morgan entrtain ed at a coffee party Wednesday afternoon, May 26, in honor of Mrs. Edison Morgan. Others pres ent were Mrs. John Armington, Mrs. Ed Bergstrom, Mrs. James Barnett. Mrs. Doris Gollyhorn, Msr. E. R Lundell, Mrs." Cleo Drake, Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn. Mrs. Lloyd Morgan, Mrs. La Vern Hams, and Mrs. Monetta Aldrich. Thirty-nine children were en rolled in the Daily Vacation Bi ble school at the Community church Monday. The teachers and helpers are, Rev. and Mrs. Floyd S. Bailey, Mrs. L. F. Lea thers, Mrs.. Elmer Swart, Mrs.' Kenneth Smouse, Julie Rietmann Mrs. K. M. Baker, Mardine Baker, Mrs. Delmer Crawford, Mrs. Pete Cannon, Dianna Pettyjohn and Marilyn Morgan. Mrs. Milton Morgan and Mrs. Earl McCabe served refreshments to the child-1 ren. , Some repairs are being made on the streets in lone, during the past week. Richard Ely of Forest Grove is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frankliln Ely. Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay have been remodeling their home near Morgan. They also built a breozway between the house and garage.. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pettyjohn and ;ion Jimmie of The Dalles spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Palmer gave a dinner Thursday of last week in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John Armington nd daughter, Marti of Los Angeles. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Roger Palmer, Mr. and Mrs.. Elmer Pal mer of Heppner and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Palmer and daughter, Bar bara Ann, of lone. Several from here enjoyed pic nicing and boating at Hat Rock park Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm McKin ney of Wasco spent Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Earl McKinney.. The Botts family held their an nual reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Botts Memorial Day.
