Legion Sponsors Memorial Services At lone Field

Memorial Day was observed
here with services sponsored by
the American Legion at the
Memorial Athletic field. Mem
bers of the Post carried the col
ors, a wreath was placed on the
memorial plaque, several num
bers were played by the school
band, a prayer and address were
given by Rev. Floyd Bailey and
taps were played. A potluck din
ner followed at noon at the Le
gion hall at which a large crowd
attsnded.
The Ball family and other rel
atives enjoyed a picnic in the
park Memorial Day. Those pres
ent were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn

the Islands where she attended
the Memorial Day services there.

Robert and Susan Baker are at
tending the Catholic summer
school in Pendletton and are
staying with their grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gorgor.
Mrs. Gordon White and daugh
ter, L(5na, attended the gradua
tion exercises in Pendleton last
week and while there were the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. W.
Smith.
Mrs. L A. McCabe, Mrs. Jimmie
Pettyjohn and Mrs. Leo Crabtree
and son, Ronald, attended the
(graduation exercises at EOCE
in La Grande Monday evening.
Ronald Crabtree will visit at the
Alvan McCabe home there for a
week. .
Mrs. Charles O'Conner and
Mrs. Omar Reitman attended the
grand chapter of Oregon Order
of Eastern Star in Portland this
week.

Jerry Bristow, student at
EOCE, spent Sunday with his
sister and family Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest McCabe. He was accom
panied by Miss Janicee Robert
son. Mrs. Earl Wright of Baker is
visiting her mother, Mrs. Ida
Grabill.
Funeral services were held for
Zenett Loggan at Arlington
Monday, June 3. He has resided
in Portland the past two years
but was a former resident in the
Arlington and Cecil communities.
He is survived by a sister, Ettie
Logan of Portland and was an
uncle of Mrs. Ray Barnett of lone.

Joe Gaarsland and children
spent Sunday at Bickleton, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Wade
and daughters of Walla Walla
spent a few days at the David
Reitman home this week..

el Hospital school of Nursing

were held at the Westminster
Presbyterian church with Dr. S.
L. Swenson, president of the Co
lumbia conference of Augustana
Lutheran church officiating.

family.
John Jepsen, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Jepsen, graduated
Sunday, June 2, from the Ore
gon school of Technology at Kla
math Falls.
Recent visitors at the Franklin
Lindsttrom home were Dr. and
Mrs. Theodore Jackman of St.
Petersburg. Florida. Dr. Jackman
was the tour leader for the Llnd
stroms when they took their trjp
around, the world two years ago.
College students home for the

Judy Mason, Janet Howton and
Donald Eubanks from 'Pacific
University; Wayne Reitman and
John Jepsen from Oregogn Tech;
Dennis Swanson from Portland

pital in Pendleton.
