Paga 6 Heppner Gazette Times, Thursday, March 14, 1957 Boardman Girl Wins Scholarship By Mary Lee Marlow Maxine Sicard, high school senior, was awarded one of the Elks $100 scholarships at Her miston recently. Later at La Grande, she missed by .5 of a point in winning first place. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller, Mrs. Effie Miller, Miss Jean Scott and Miss Zelma Cowan left Mon day for a trip through California and Arizona. They will also visit the Millers' son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mil ler, at Klamath Falls. At Del Paso Calif., Mrs. Effie Miller will remain at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Harding, while the rest of the party goes on to Phoenix, Arizona. They will be gone about two weeks. While Miss Scott and Miss Co wan are gone Bob Berger of The niiioc uiii snpak at the Com munity church both Mar. 17 and Mar. 24. The Rev. Joseph C. Goodman of Compton, Calif., will speak at the church Sunday, Mar. 31. Rev. Goodman has been a missionary in Borneo for the past four years, and is on furlough in the states. He will show slides and a film of his work, and will also have a display of handicraft and arti facts of the Dykes, natives- of Borneo. Tho i.ndles Aid society of the Community church met Wednes day of last week at the church for an all day work meeting. Mrs. Louise Earwood was hostess. There were eleven present.
