' o Times Classifieds Pay I Legion Auxiliary Has Christmas Party The American Legion auxiliary Christmas party and gift ex change was held Tuesday night of last week at the home of Mrs. Floyd Adams with Mrs. Gene Fer guson as co-hostess. Members voted to each donate food for the Christmas basket for a needy family and to take money from the treasury to buy gifts for them. They also voted to send $2.00 to the Leonard Wood Me morial in New York and to order 3,000 poppies for Poppy Day In May. Their January project will be to collect clothing for Hungar ian refugees. It was announced that the au xiliary has ninety one paid up members with a quota of 84. Those from Monument seen In John Day on business Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Mix Cox, Mrs. Jim Crocker, Mrs. Pearl Martin, Dick and Caroline, Darrel Far rens, Hugh Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kimmel and children and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matteson and Dale, Mr. and Mrs. John Owings and two children left Wednesday for Washington to visit her mother and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fleming went to Heppner Saturday to spend the week with their daughter and family, the Stanley Coxes. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McWillis were in John Day Saturday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Ingalls drove to John Day Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wheeler spent the weekend visiting relatives at Fox. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Ingalls and son spent the weekend at the Wheeler ranch with her brother and sister, Barbara and Bobby Joe. Lee Jones spent last week in Pendleton with his daughter, Willa Mae O'Roucke, and family. Those from here in Pendleton on the 15th were Maynard Hamil ton, Dale Matteson and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan. Ansil Martin spent two days at Long Creek visiting at the Sam Scott home. Jessie Scott and son were here from Long Creek visiting her folks Sunday. Elmer Matteson drove to Hepp ner Tuesday on business and for medical care. The Monument mill has been sold and is being closed. Bob Kelly and Dale Matteson cut wood two days at Long Creek. The M. M. M. club held their annual Christmas dinner party at the George Capon home last Thursday. Potluck dinner and ex change of gifts was held. Those present were Pearl Martin, Iris Klncald, Eva Malin, Theo Ow ings, Olive Cox, Wave Jackson, Mary DuBosch, Delsie Sweek, Martha Matteson and the hostess Doris Capon. Monument News By Martha Matteson Mr. and MrsT Toney Hutchinson were in Pendleton Saturday for medical checkups. Maynard Hamilton and Rho Bleakman drove Lee Slocum to Pendleton the morning of the 15th when he entered the hospital for surgery. Those who went to be with him were his wife Ida, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Slocum, Mr. and Mrs. Rho Bleakman and Maynard Hamilton. Gerald Slocum and Willard Gil man were in Hermiston Friday where they branded some cattle that Gerald bought, they then hauled them back here. Mrs. Joe Mellor was In John Day Saturday for a checkup for her two children. Mr. and Mrs. Mix Cox were in Hermiston Saturday and Heppner on Sunday where she stopped for a checkup with her doctor, then they visited with the Perry Wil sons at Hardman. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kincaid and Tommy Haywood were In John Day Wednesday. Thelma Williams accompanied Darele Boyer to Prineville, taking the baby to the doctor.
