Page 4 Heppncr Gazette Times, TKurs'day, December 13, 1956 WSCS Program on "Children of World" The Womens' Society of Chris tian Service of the Methodist church met Wednesday evening at the church. Twenty five were present Mrs. Douglas Drake was in charge of the program and topic for the evening was "Children All Over the World." Piano numbers were given by Susan Drake, and Linda Smith. Mr.s Norman Peters sang, "That Little Boy of Mine", accompanied by Mrs. Victor Krelmeyer. Mrs. Lucille Owens and Mrs. Stanley Holm gave readings on "Christ mas Thoughts of Children". The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Carl McDaniel. It was decided that the circles will meet the third Wednesday of every month. On December 19th, the Suzanna Wesley Circle will have a potluck dinner and meet ing at the church with the other circles invited, to begin at 10 a. m. Dinner Party Given For Staff Monday Mr, and Mrs. Robert Penland entertained Monday night with a dinner party for the staff of the Gazette Times. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bedford, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wilson, Neal Penland and the host and hostess. o Gcutt Timet Claitlflvdi Pay I lone Sorority to Serve Elks Dinner The Beta Omega Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the home of Mrs. Betty Rietmann on Wednesday evening, Dec. 5 with Mrs. Mary Jean McLeod and Mrs. Joyce Snider assisting as hostes ses. Plans wefe made for the Elks Stag night dinner in Hepp- ner Dec. 20. The proceeds to go to the Crippled Children's hospital in Eugene. Reports were made on the individual projects. Each member is to raise $5 by the middle of February. Some are baking cakes, cutting hair, sel ling Christmas trees and some baby sitting. Mrs. Eulenna Cor ley and Mrs. Maravene White demonstrated making winter bouquets. Card Party At Elks Held Thursday Night There were eleven tables of cards in play at ladies night at the Elks last Thursday evening. Mrs. Riley Munkers held high score in bridge and Mrs. W. C. Collins was second. In pinochle Mrs. Joe Wright was high and Mrs. Ellwynne Peck, second. Mrs. Marry Tamblyn received the door prize. Mrs. Elaine George was chair man for the evening and her com mittee was Mrs. E. K. The bride is the former Leila Mc Lachlan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen McLachlan of Heppner. The couple will make their home in Los Angeles. Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bed ford, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomp son and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gra bill of Pendleton. Duplicate Club Meets at Wilsons The Duplicate Bridge Club met Sunday evening at the home of Mr .and Mrs. Tom Wilson for din ner and cards. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Angel, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meador, Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Van Marter, Stanley Holm, Jayne Dowen Has Fifth Birthday Mrs. Larry Dowen entertained with a surprise party Friday af ternoon, December 7, honoring the fifth birthday of her daughter Jayne. Guests were .Nancy Ferrell, Renee Snyder, Doni Mallory, Kathy and Karen Blake and Jan Fancher. A treasure hunt was the fea ture of the afternoon and each guest received a necklace as a prize. Birthday cake and ice cream were served. Holiday Decorations Viewed Tuesday Night Mrs. Kemp Dick entertained Tuesday evening at her home with an open house and gave a preview of original Christmas de corations. Mrs. Floyd Adams poured and Miss Barbara Warren was at the punch bowl. Assisting about the gaily decorated rooms were Mrs. LaVerne Van Marter and Mrs. William Heath. Mrs. L. D. Tibbies received the door prize. o LEGION AUXILIARY TO MEET The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, December 18 at 8 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Floyd Adams with Mrs. Gene Ferguson as co-hostess. The Christmas party and gift exchange will be held after the business meeting. Sunday Dinner Party In Honor of Two Mr. and Mrs. Terrel Benge enter tained Sunday with a dinner party in honor of Mr. Benge's birthday and for their son, Mich ael, who is home on leave. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dar rell Padberg and daughter Leann, lone; Jackie Downs, Lynn Marie and Ralph Benge, George McDon aid all of Condon; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Hughes and son Terry and Miss Shirley Kononen, Heppner; Pvt. 1c Michael D. Benge and the host and hostess. STITCH AND CHAT The Stitch and Chat 4-H sew ing group met Dec. 11 at the home of Beth Van Schoiack. We had no business meeting but the girls continued to work on their projects.
