The topic for the afternoon was "Sea foods". Mrs. Craber was project leader, assisted by Mrs. Jerry Brosnan. Mrs. Robert Brindle served a sea food dinner at noon. Others present were Mrs. V. E. Hughes, Mrs. Randall Martin, Mrs. C. B. Andrews of Beaverton and Mrs. George Currin. Episcopal Guild nsors Card Party Spo St. Elizabeth's Guild of All Saints Episcopal -church spon sored a public card party in the parish hall Thursday evening. Five tables of bridge and four tables of pinochle were in play. In pinochle, Mrs. Lincoln Nash won first prize and Bill Collins, low. Mrs. Gene Ferguson was high in bridge and Mrs, Bruce Lindsay, low. Mrs. Glenn Mc Lachlan received the door prize. Refreshments were served fol lowing the party. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dowen, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Gunderson, Mr. and Mrs. James Mallon, Mr. and Mrs. John Sny der and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Pratt. John Snyder had high score, James Mallon, second and Mrs. Dovven, low. o CHURCH DINNER WELL ATTENDED The Ladies of the Altar Guild os St. Patrick's Catholic church served a harvest dinner to about 250 Sunday afternoon, at the fair pavilion. Mrs. Harold Laird was in charge of advertising and Mrs. Ray Smith was chairman for ticket sales. Dick, Mrs. Floyd Jones, Mrs. Howard Bryant, Mrs. Frank Connor and Mrs. Cor nett Green. lone Sorority Has Social Meeting Beta Omego chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the lone Legion hall on October 17. This was the October social meeting. Tiie theme of the party was, Back To School. Tests were given in arithme tic, geography and spelling and relay games were played. Refreshments of cookies, coffee and hot chocolate were served. Rainbow Girls Give Annual Dinner Heppner Assembly of Rainbow Girls held their annual dinner Monday night for Masons and their daughters and initiated Mary Shannon. The girls were in charge of the dinner, assisted by members of the advisory board. Each Rain bow girl introduced herself and her Masonic father. The Rever end Lester Boulden gave the in vocation. About forty were present. PONY KICKS By Shirlee Upton 7B is working hard to have their Hallowe'en skit in readi ness for the date of the hayride. The committee in charge is Bob Irby, Gearldine Swaggart, Cheryl Crist, and Julie Ffeiffer. The world map in Mrs. Boul den's room is being colored as each section is studied. Africa has been colored in by Kenneth Dag gett and Billy Mahon. ' Poems and pictures were made in reference to Columbus Day. IONE School Notes All teachers went to Pendleton Monday to the institute there. The National Merit scholar ship testing program will be held at the school Wednesday Oct. 23. Many of the seniors are interested in this program. lone will play football with Boardman at Boardman Friday October 26. o Eastern Oregon Shrub Quiz Leaflet Issued An easy guide to identifying 30 Eastern Oregon shrubs is now available in a single-sheet circu lar published by the Oregon State college extension service. Titled,' "Eastern Oregon Shrub Quiz", the circular lists and has pictures of the foliage of 30 dif ferent shrubs found east of the Cascades. Persons taking the quiz are asked to name the shrubs from the pictures. An accom panying circular gives answers to the quiz. The teaching aid was devel oped for use by 4-H clubs, as a quiz sheet for study groups, and as a handy reference guide for visitors and others on outings.
