Keith Tannehill, son of Mr. nad Mrs. Clyde Tannehill, has entered .the U. S. army, and Is at Camp Carson, Colo., for his basic training- Mr. and Mrs. William Garner went to The Dalles Wednesday of last week to visit Duane Brown in the hospital there. Garner re turned home, and Mrs. Garner went to Bend to visit at the home of Garner's mother, Mrs. Blanche Garner. She returned home on Thursday. Mrs. Henry Zivney was in Port land last week visiting at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Rash. While she was there a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Rash Oct. 12. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Grandparents are, Mr. and Mrs. Zivney and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rash, Board man. Great-grandparent is Mrs. Lulu Stevens, of Portland. Sigvald Aase, school superin tendent, attended a meeting of secondary school principals at Salem Monday and Tuesday of last week. Mrs. Rosela Mix, Hay Springs, Nebr., and her son Myron Mix of Terrebonne, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Briggs last Friday on their way from Hay Springs to Terrebonne. THE HEXALL STORE Ray Anderson, who was here from Willamina. Mr. and Mrs. Seth Russell were here last week from their mine near John Day. Their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Russell and children, The Dalles, visited them Sunday. The Garden club met Monday nijjht at the home of Mrs. Louise Earwood with Mrs. Bob Stewart as co-hostess. There were 12 mem bers present. Roll call was ans wered by giving the name of a new bulb planted this fall. Mrs. Earl Briggs presented a talk on origin of Hallowe'en. The club discussed plans for planting a memorial garden for old settlers here. Mrs. Walter Hayes was ap pointed to investigate the possi bility of getting the lot north of the post office for this. Jim Thorpe and Jerry Peck left last Friday night for Kansas City, Mo., to attend the National Con vention of the Future Farmers of America. Mr. and Mrs. Marin Carpenter and children, Seattle, Wash., were weekend visitors at the home of Carpenter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Carpenter, Cecil Hamil ton and Delbert Carpenter accom panied them from their jobs at Bellingham, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Zearl Gillespie left Saturday for Mitchell for a week's hunting trip, and to visit at the home of Mrs. Gillespie's brother-in-law ad sister, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Messenger, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Zerba and children Dennis and Deborah, of Athena, visited Mrs. Zerba's mo ther, Mrs. Blanch Jones, Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ball and daughter Barbara, Westfir, were visitors at the homes of their par ents, Mr. and Mrs.Roy Ball and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kress, from Thursday till Monday. Friday visitors at the Kress home were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Steinhaus, of Nampa, Idaho. Mrs. George Slcard was taken to St. Anthony's hospital In Pen dleton Monday. Mrs. Eileen Anderson and son Ronnie, Pendleton, were here over the weekend. School will be dismissed Mon day and Tuesday of next week for Teachers Institute. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Olmstead have sold their farm here to the Pattee Bros, of Condon, and are moving to Arizona to live.
