Soccer ball intramurals among the fourth, fifth and sixth grades nave begun. Team captains are Larry Smith, Leroy Gardner, John Privett, Mike Williams. The games are played during the noon hour 12:25-12:50. At the pre sent time Larrv Smith and Lernv Gardner have each one win and zero losses, while Mike Williams and John Privett have no wins and one loss. Seventh and Eiehth erarles are playing "Flag football". Can- tains are Neal Penland and Dan Brosnan.- Their first game-was rained out so there are no stand ings yet. New Girls Thelma Sanders has recently become a new member to Mr. Snyder's eighth grade class. Her nome was in The Dalles. Mrs. Clary, librarian. pointed out that these books rep resent a tremendous range of reading area, so there are books of interest to all. Heppner seniors will iournev to Pendleton Friday and Saturday to have their pictures taken by Cole's Studio. This is an earlier date than the one secured last year. However, Jay Sumner, the Mustang edito.r, commented that such an early date will facilitate getting this year's annual to the printer. A familiar sound around school this week is achoo sniff ! These queer sounds emit from the students who just came back from the press conference at Eueene. Excluding the weather, they re port having had enjoyable times. Vic Groshens. Shirlev Kononen. Mr. Norman Peters, chorus and band instructor is already busily making plans for the Christmas program. The chorus is planning a program for December 19. De tails of the program will be an nounced later. Running for state vice presi dent for Future Business Leaders will be Jim Morris. He is the president of the local chapter and has announced the following campaign managers: bnirley Ko nonen, Vic Groshens, and Mary Stewart. The junior class members are roaming the halls each Friday noon selling colorful yellow and blue pom poms. These add great ly to the school spirit at games. o . mm 0-KI-2U The month of October is nrov- ing to be a very interesting time ior tne u-ki-zu Lamp Hre group. We have planned a whole series of meetings on junior high girls' problems. The first meeting we had a personality quiz, then in our se cond meetin Mrs. LeRoy Gardner demonstrated to the girls correct care of hair, nails and skin. She tried various hair styles on dif ferent girls to show which were the most becominc. At our third meeting Miss Beverly Bradshaw talked about color, line and de sign in clothes. The girls tried different colors on their skin to find which were the most be coming to them. On Oct. 22 the public health nurse will tallk to us on personal hygiene. The girls have been keeping a question box on ir. hieh problems wnicn will be opened and discus sed at a mother's tea on Oct. 29 by a panel of mothers and hich school girls. All this activity will come to a close Nov. 6 when the group will give a boy and girl party using a political theme. This will consist of a buffet din ner at Sharon Lindsays followed by a sravanger hunt which will be followed by games and danc ing at the multipurpose room.
