Minimum Tuesday morn ing was 54 above. Coach Marion Morlan, Bill Bill and Jim Thorpe, Ivan Kress, Gerald Anderson, Bill and Jim Aardappel attended the Shrine football game in Pendleton Sat urday night. Mr. and Mrs. William A. Brun kow and daughter Shirley, Mon roe, Wisconsin, have been visit ing for a week at the home of Mrs. Brunkow's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Potts. It is the first time the sisters have seen each other in 23 years. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Coats went to Seattle, Wash, last week to visit at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Mallery. They were to be gone about a week. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stewart and son Randy spent the weekend in Estacada visiting at the home of Mrs. Stewart's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Veelle, Sr. Mrs. William Garner and daughter Anita returned home Sunday from Bend where they visited at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Blanche Garner for a week. Carol Hamilton, student nurse at Providence hospital in Port land, arrived last Friday evening to spend several days at her home here. Monday she and Larry Thorpe went to La Grande for the day. Mrs. Tolvo Siinlla and five children of Portland are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. andn Mrs. Adolph Skoubo. Her husband brought them up last Friday evening, and returned to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Van HoVegard and children Rickie, Penny and Lonny, Walla Walla, Wash., were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bedord. Guy Ferguson returned home Sunday from Good Shepherd hos pital in Hermiston where he had been for a week and a half. See. rmtston JO 7-9111 Sid Ferguson, Butte, Mont., have returned to their homes after being here for his illness., Coach Marion Morlan called the first football practice Monday morning for which six boys turned out. They were Bill and Jim Aardappel, Jim Thorpe. Dick Garner, Martin Shattuck and Bob Locks. Morlan said he expected about four more later. Practice will be held twice a day from now until school starts. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kress were Mrs. Kress's mother and brother, Mrs. Frances Meyer and Clarence Meyer, who were on their way home to Lewiston, Idaho from Portland. Bud Ball and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Eden and two sons of Westfir were weekend visitors at the home of Ball's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy- Ball. His daughter, Theresa, returned home with him after spending the summer with her grandparents. Mrs. Russell DeMauro and daughters Anna Marie and Donna Hood River, visited at the hbme of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skoubo from Thursday to Tuesday. Bill Thorpe and Ivan Kress went to Union Sunday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith. They planned to go fish ing there. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Daniels and three children spent the weekend In Sandpolnt. Idaho visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Zunker and sons Larry and Bradley of Kennewlck, Wash., visited Zun ker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ferguson Sunday. Greg Bedord went home with them to visit Mr. and Mrs. Russell Miller and children Jim and Pat, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller left last week on a fishing trip to central Oregon. Mrs. Effie Miller has gone to Sacramento, Calif., to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Harding. Mrs. Allen Ely and children Renee and Rickie, Spokane, Wash. are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely this week. (From Last Week) Maurice Root, Athena, visited his grandmother, Mrs. Florence Root, last week. His parents, Mr and Mrs. Vernon Root, came after him Sunday, and they all went to Arlington for dinner at tne nome nf Mr. and Mrs. Al Macomber, Visitors last Friday at Mrs. Root's home were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dull and dauehter Barbara, torvailis. who were on their way home from Grandvlew, Wash. Mrs. Dull Is Mrs. Root's niece. Mr. and Mrs. Rav Olmstead and son Ronnie were In Lewis ton. Idaho last week visiting Mrs Olmstead's mother, Mrs. Emma Kress, and other relatives. They took Betty Olmstead there where she will be employed in the tele phone office. Jerry and Neva Haddox office there, leaving here about two weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker went to Portland on business last Wed nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Downey and children left last week on a va cation trip to Sheridan, Wyo. Dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bedord were Mr. and Mrs. Stan ley Zunker, Kennewick, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Earl Downey, Pros ser. Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Sid Ferguson, Butte, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ferguson, Donna and Chuck Ferguson, Ordnance, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Higuera and Mrs. Guy Ferguson. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Ball are the parents of a daughter born Aug. 10 at Pioneer Memorial hos pital in Heppner. She has been named Linda Lou. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball, Board man, Roy Blakeley, Salem, and Mrs. Lorene Audrey, Portland. Great-frandparent is Mrs. Hazel Brown, Bend. The baby weighed eight pounds, four ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cole left Saturday for their home In Port land after visiting last week here at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Lowell Shattuck. Last Thursday Mrs. Shattuck and Mrs. Cole took Douglas Shattuck to Camp Merl wether near Portland. Mrs. Cecil Hamilton and daugh ter Lorelei and Larry Thorpe were in Portland last week visit ing Carol Hamilton, student nurse at Providence hospital. Greenfield grange met Satur day night at the hall. Hosts were Mrs. Claud Coats, Mrs. Florence Root and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball. Mrs. Anna Skoubo was ap pointed chairman for the com mittee for the booth for the North Morrow county fair. There were 27 people at the grange picnic Sunday afternoon. Donald Holmboe, Portland, is visiting his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Buster Rands. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen ac companied by Mr. and Mrs. Gene Allen of Port Townsend, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Allen of The Dalles, left Saturday on a fishing trip to the Lake Basin country of eastern Oregon.
