Heppner Gazette Times, Thursday, June 21 , T95& Lex Club Meets Saturday Bv Delpha Tones The Amlcitia Club met at the Jim Bloodsworth ranch on batur day night, with 10 couples pre sent. The evennig was spent in playing pinochle, with the fol lowing winning prizes: High wo men; Eileen Padberg; second high, Lucile Mathews; traveling, Em Peck; high men; Bob Kilken ny; second, Eldon Padberg; trav eling, Gar Leyva. Refreshments were served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Padberg, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mathews, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kilkenny, Mr. and Mrs. Gar Leyva, Mr. and Mrs. E. E.-Peck, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Munkers, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bloodsworth, Mrs. Mildred pavidson, Mrs.June Coo per, and Mr. and Mrs. Oral Wright from Heppner. Dora Sue Davidson Is employed at the Bill B. Marquardt ranch this week. T. E. Messenger and son Car roll motored to Lexington over the weekend from Mitchell, aiier his wife Leita who has been staying at the Bill B. Marquardt ranch and at the T. E. Messengei, Jr. home in Hermiston. The business meeting of tne Lexington Christian and Congre gational Sunday scnools was held last Thursday night. The meeting was called to order by the acting chairman Norman NnrthruD. A report of the daily vacation Bible school was given. New business was taken care 01 and the meeting was turned over to the chairman of the church board, Karl Miller. Regular busi ness was taken care of and the meeting adjourned with a prayer. The following were present: Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Munkers, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Miller, Mrs. June Cooper, Mrs. Cecil Jones and Rev. Norman Northrup. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt enter- ninpfi with a pinochle party at their home on Tuesday evening with the occasion being Mrs. E. MrFadden's birthday. High nries went to Jim Bloodsworth and Clarice McFadden. A lovely decorated cake for the occasion was served with ice cream and coffee to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bloods worth, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones, Mrs. Bertha Hunt and son, Don ald and. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt. Mrs. A. F. Majecke and Mrs. W. E. McMillan attended tne Ke- bekah lodge meeting at Hard- man on Tuesday. The women's fellowship group nf the church met on Tuesday afternoon at the church.The meet ing was called to order by the irp nresident. Jo irvin. ine minutes were read and approved and the devotionals given by Delpha Jones. The new business was preparing a box of clothing for the Indian mission at wapaio, Washington under John Runyon. The clothing was sorted and packed, and will be sent soon. There is to be a mending day at the Cecil Jones home next Tues day afternoon, and any one wlsh- na in inm is invited to attend and anv one with" clothing for this cause may leave them either there or at the parsonage Deiore Tuesday. Those from here who attended the Hermann-Rhuling wedding in Spokane Sunday June 17 were Mr. and Mrs. G. Hermann, Mr. and Mrs! Harlan Crawford, Rollo Crawford, Robert Drake, Gene Rietmann. Paul Tews from Hepp ner and Mrs. Lena Holdt of Chi cago also attended. Mrs. Holdt is visiting at the Hermann home. The McCabe family held a re union at their cabin near Parkers mill in the mountains to cele brate Father's Day and the 80th birthday of A. A. McCabe. Those present were A. A. McCabe, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McCabe, and daughter, Arleta, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. McCabe and children, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McCabe and daughter, Eleanor, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McCabe and children, Mr. and Mrs. James McCabe and children. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lundell and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Eubanks and child ren. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ingalls and Mr. and Mrs. Algott Lundell. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carlson entertained at a pinochle party at their home Saturday evening. There were six tables in play. Those receiving prizes were Mrs. Ernest McCabe, high; Ernest Mc Cabe, low and Donald Peterson, 300 pinochle. Mrs. Grace Ware spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dixon Mur phy in Pasco, Wash. Charles Ely left for his home in Coos Bay after visiting his brothers here. George Ely took him as far as Salem where they visited Georges son and family Mr. and Mrs. Frances Ely. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dobyns are spending a few days in port land. James Lindsay, who recently underwent surgery in Portland is convalescing at the home of rela tives there. Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crawford stayed at the Harlan Crawford home near Echo over the week end took care' of their grand daughter, Tara, while the Harlan Crawfords went to Spokane. Larry Ritchie of Portland was a visitor here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Leathers and children spent the weekend n Seattle. Mrs. Paul Pettviohn gave a birthday party Friday afternoon in honor of her sister, Mrs. ueo nrake. Four tables of bridge were in play and one table of nedro. Those receiving prizes were; in bridge, Mrs. Mabel Cot ter, high, Mrs. Omar Rietmann, low and Mrs. Victor Rietmann, Jack high. In pedro Mrs. Algott Lundell, high, and Mrs. Anna Lindstrom, low. Mrs. Drake re ceived many lovely gifts. Mrs. Robert Jepsen entertained the hridee club at her home Thursday evenine of last week. Mrs. Ernest McCabe received high prize, Mrs. Walter Jacobs, na high and Mrs. Ray Boyce, low. Mrs. Norman Nelson and child ren are visiting relatives in Salem and Portland this week. She was accompanied by Miss Inez O'Neal of Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Crawford of lone and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Doherty of Heppner attended the funeral services of W i. &oi vester in Arlington Saturday, June 16. Mr. Solvester was an uncle of Mrs. Crawford and Mrs. Doherty, and was a resident in The Dalles Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Hams and children have moved into their new home on Main street that they purchased from Merle Baker. Mrs. Sadie Olson of Spokane, is visiting her brothers, H. O., Fred and George Ely. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rietmann and son John, visited relatives in Hermiston Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Earmuth and Mildred Bristow of Portiland visited relatives at Heppner and lone. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lundell and family of Pendleton spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. ana Mrs. E. R. Lundell. Shirlse McGreer left Tuesday for San Francisco where she will attend summer school. She is a student at the University of Oregon. BOARDMAM ITEMS ThP Garden club held its an nual Sandflower Sister party on Monday at the home of Mrs. Claud Coats, with Mrs. Leo roiis as co-hostess. Gifts were ex changed and names drawn for next year. A surprise nanaKer phipf shower was included in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Tim Rlppee. Regular business was conducted and officers for next year were installed by Mrs. Earl Briggs as loiiows: Mrs. naie Macomber, president; Mrs.. Date for the flower and hobby show, and silver tea, was set for the afternoon of June 27 at the grange hall. Mrs. Arthur Allen will be in charge of flowers, Mrs. Rollin Bishop, decorations, and Mrs. Ed Kunze, kitchen. The condition of Ramona Wiz ner, nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wizner, is re ported some improved. Jimmy Lilly remained here to visit his grandparents this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Settle visited at the home of their son and fam ily, the Delmer Settle's in Long Creek Sunday. Mrs. Granny Capon is now staying at a rest home in Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matteson and Dale were dinner guests on Father's Day at the home ot Mr and Mrs. Bob Kingman. Lee Fleming came in Friday nicht from the Evans ranch and put in cement sidewalks in front and back of their home.
