Following the installation, a crowning ceremony was held, with Jo Anne Keithley placing the crown on the new worthy ad visor and Dennis Warren acting as crown bearer. Mrs. Norman Peters sang duiing the ceremony, accompanied by Mary Jo Stew art. Refreshments were served to Rainbow girls and members of Worthy Mother Advisor's Club md mothers of the girls who were juests. . Vrs. Tuesdays Piano Students In Sunday Recital Mrs. J. 0. Turner presented her piano students in recital on Sunday afternoon at the Christian church. Pupils were Gail Hoskins, Linda Stewart, Stephen Lindstrom, Billy Wagner, Jean Stockard, Shannon Mahoney, Judy Schmidt, Jean Schmidt, Celia Boulden, Linda Heimbigner, Cheryle Lundell, Karen Lundell and Judy-Smith. In addition to recital numbers, Karen Lundell played Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata on the pipe organ, Cheryle Lundell sang a solo and Karen Lundell and Mrs lurner played a piano-organ duet, "Blest Be The Tie That Binds." arranged by Ethel Smith. At the reception which follow ed in the church basement, Mrs. Lester Boulden and Mrs. Algott Lundell poured. Mothers of the pupils furnished the cookies. Blue daisies and white snap dragons were used about the rooms. Miss Nadine Ruhling Honored At Sunday Tea at Hermann Home Mrs. G. Hermann of lone enter tained with a tea Sunday after noon May 27, in honor of Miss Nadine Ruhling of Portland. Mrs. Harold Dobyns and Mrs. Marion Palmer poured from a table with a center piece of pink roses and pink candles. They were assisted by Mrs. Julian Rauch and Mrs. Fred Rauch. Mrs. Harlan Crawford and Mrs. Lee Palmer assisted with the tea, which was attended by about 35 guests. Miss Ruhling is the bride elect of Helmuth Hermann and the wedding is to take place June 17 in Spokane. Miss June Privett Sets Wedding Date . Mr. and Mrs. Chalmer H. Pri vett announce the wedding date of their daughter, June, to Mr. Alan Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Brown of Lakeview, as Sunday, June 10 at the Hepp ner Christian church at 4:00 p. m. A reception will follow the ceremony. Convention Dinner Planned By Club The Triple Link club met Mon day May 21 at the home of Mrs. Edna Turner with 16 members present. The dinner for the convention to be held June 23, was planned and committees were appointed. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening by Es ther Bergstrom. o MRS. HUDSON'S PUPILS TO HAVE RECITAL Piano pupils of Mrs. D. E. Hud son will be presented in recital at 2 p. m. Sunday, June 2 in the Methodist church. '- e f bd Texaco Texaco Service on Due Date District Director Visits Soroptimist Club Friday Evening Mrs. Marjorie Clark of Ashland, director of district No. 2 of the northwest region of Soroptimist International, paid her official visit to the Heppner club Friday evening. A dinner was held at O'Don nell's Wagon Wheel Lounge where Mrs. Clark gave a talk on the objectives of Soroptimism and was presented a plant from the group. Those present were Mrs. John Pfeiffer, Mrs. R oice Fulleton, Mrs. E. E. Gonty, Mrs. Joe Hughes, Mrs. Loyal Parker, Mrs. Pearl De vine and Mrs. Clark. Book Reviewed By Mrs. W. E. Hughes At Club Meeting The Book Worms met Monday night at the home of Miss Lulu Hager. Mrs. W. E. Hughes reviewed the book, "The Teacher," by Helen Keller. Others present were Mrs. Ted Smith, Mrs. Lucy Peterson, Miss Leta Humphreys, Mrs. J. O. Tur ner, Mrs. Floyd Jones, Mrs.Harry Dinges, Mrs. Fred Parrish, Mrs. James Thomson, Mrs. Cornett Green and Mrs. Jack Flug. o Soroptimists Hear Results of Survey At the Thursday luncheon meeting of the Soroptimist club held at O'Donnell's Mrs. W. O. George gave a resume of the survey of the community activi ties which the club has worked on all year, as a project. It is hoped from the findings of this survey that the Soroptimist club will be able to find a new project. Guests were Mrs. Walter Barger of Gresham and Mrs. Cleve Van Schoiack. Dessert-Bridge Held At Bedford Home Mrs. Jack Bedford entertained two tables at dessert bridge Fri day afternoon. Mrs. Lowell Gribble held high score and Mrs. Lester Wyman was second. Others playing were Mrs. Frank Anderson, Mrs. Oral Wright, Mrs. Laurence Becket, Mrs. James Thomson and Mrs. Robert Fer rell. Mrs. Bellenbrock Entertains At Bridge Mrs. Don Bellenbrock enter tained with refreshments and two tables of bridge Friday night. Mrs. Ned Sweek was high, Mrs. Tom Wilson, low and Mrs. Jack Healy received the traveling prize. Others present were Mrs. Riley Munkers, Mrs. Kemp Dick, Mrs. Creston Robinson and Mrs. Wil liam Heath. Three Members Honored By O. E. S. Ruth chapter No. 32, O. E. S. held a regular meeting Fiiday night at the Masonic temple. A eift was presented by the chapter to Mrs. C. C. Carmichael and gifts were also given to Mrs. Fred Sanders and Miss Sharon Becket, both of whom are leaving Heppner soon. Refreshments were served by the officers. Legion Auxiliary To Meet Tuesday The next meeting of the Amerl can Legion auxiliary will be t the Legion hall on Tuesday June 5, at 7:30 p. m. There will me initiation, and after the meeting the loosing side in the membership drive will en tertain with bridge and pinochle. Norman Northrup; piano solo "He", Beverley Davidson; welcome address, Dennis Do herty; tribute of appreciation, James Laney; salutatory, Don Casteel; accordion solo "Whisper ing Hope", Stanley Shoonover; valedictory, Cherry Grey; piano solo "German Dances", Paula Barak; introduction of speaker, Larry Henderson; guest speaker, Mr. John M. Miller, professor of education Eastern Oregon College La Grande; presentation of the awards Boy Scout cup present ed by the institutional Rep. Cecil Jones to Larry Henderson and runner-up cup to Laddie Hender son; the Beach citizenship cup to Cherry Grey; and the scholastic awards to Cherry Grey, with a special scholastic award going to Jim Laney and salutatorian award to Don Casteel. Eighth grade graduates were Dennis Doherty, Robert Davidson, Stanley Shoonover, Gregory Ley va, Paula Barak, Charlene Jones, Rosetta Laney, and Russell Dol ven. The class motto "Building boys is better than mending men" and class colors green and white, class flower white rose. Dennis Doherty, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Doherty was awarded the citi zenship qup for the eighth grad ers. The farm home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan was the scene of a dinner party honoring the eighth graders on Wednes day evening. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. W. E. McMillan, Mrs. Bob Davidson and Mrs. C. C. Jones. The menu con sisted of fruti cocktail, molded salad, roast beef, mashed pota toes and gravy, string beans, hot rolls, and apple pie. Following the dinner games were played, two for the money and dancing was enjoyed with the youngsters trying their hand at "square dancing". Those present for the evening were Dennis Doherty, Bobby Davidson, Gregory Leyva Stanley Schoonover, Russell Dol ven, Paula Barak, Charlene Jones, and Rosetta Laney. The dinner was served' by Mrs. Gar Leyva Mrs. O. M. Laney with the kit chen work, Mrs. Davidson, Mrs. McMillan and Mrs. Jones. Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Dol ven were guests. Patrick Cutsforth was a pa tient in Pioneer Memorial hospi tal for several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt are the parents of a baby daugh ter born Saturday in Pioneer Me morial hospital.
